Okay for gas - but find anywhere else but here to eat... My family pulled into this Flying J for gas and thought the attached Denny's would be a good place to eat, as well. We were seated at a table and then dutifully ignored for almost 30 minutes. 2 Waitresses even started arguing with each other (within earshot) about who had to take our table - I guess our family of 4 looked like a demanding bunch compared to all of the truckers around... Finally we got a waitress to bring drinks and take our order. Then nothing. It was like we were invisible. After another 25 minutes of being intentionally ignored, I got up and talked to the manager. She had the gall to blame us for not being patient enough and insisted that I pay for the meals EVEN THOUGH THEY STILL HADN'T BEEN PUT ON THE GRILL!!!! After an unpleasant "discussion," we refused to pay, got some rotten-tasting pre-wrapped turkey sandwiches and undercooked pizza from the gas station, and hit the road. Pulled over for a late lunch at the Denny's next door, expecting it to be a quality establishment. Unfortunately, the wait staff here are SO disorganized! SERVICE: Unprofessional and disorganized. Didn't see our waitress again after she had to be called over to take our order, and there seemed to be only one, on-top-of-it waiter who was rushing around trying to take care of everyone. The other waiters appeared to be goofing off in the back of the restaurant; or, we caught the wait staff in between shift changes or something, because even the people trying to pay their bills at the front were grumbling about the wait. ATMOSPHERE, FOOD: typical Denny's fare, but the waitstaff forgot several parts of our order (side salad, tortillas that came with my dad's meal) and had to be reminded. I feel badly that the Flying J is getting a bad review due to Denny's since we never went anywhere but the restaurant. Oh well... The Denny's SUCKED. It was awful, horrible, terrible, gross, icky, disgusting. etc. Yeah, I know, I don't usually start reviews like that, but restaurants aren't normally that bad. The hostess asked the woman bussing the tables to clear a table for us. She complained that she'd already bussed a booth. We like tables. And the hostess told her to get a table ready, now. So it started off on the wrong foot and went downhill. Our waitress was friendly. I'll give her credit and she tried to take care of us. It wasn't her fault at all. We were surrounded by oil workers, lots of crying/screaming kids and one very grouchy busser. The restaurant was dirty. The floors were filthy. Very few tables around us were bussed. It was busy, but not so busy that she couldn't keep up on the tables. Once our order was taken, it took forever for our food to come. It was freezing out and Mom wanted soup, but there was no soup. Actually the menu was very limited. Surprising for about 8 pm. The food was ok. Really was what you'd expect for Denny's. Once we were done eating, it took a while to get our check and then a while to check out. We were very happy to be out of there. It was quiet outside. read more

I'm a truck driver and i had a problem with a truck. The cashier at fly and J didnt hesitate for one second to help me fix the problem. He brought out his tools and didnt even take money for it. We pulled off on the side of the road when we saw a Dennys sign. I figured it'd be near or attached to a gas station, but you have to go through the store part to get to the restaurant if you park in front. It was strange, but whatever. The store inside the gas station (remember, you have to go through it to get to the meal) was crawling with truckers--duh, it's a Flying J. Some of these guys were scary though. And a few needed showers BADLY! My stepdad was a trucker and so I have nothing against them, but this place was really busy and I definitely felt out of place. So, when we went to Denny's, I was expecting more of the same. Instead, our waiter was over-the-top friendly (almost to the point of annoying). I understand you want to earn a tip, but having to wait an hour for our food and listening to his story about how he and the other employees "got dirty" with the Mad Lib placemats was a bit much. He kept doing things that were just...strange. It's hard to explain, but I've never had a Denny's waiter or waitress pour my coffee cream or put butter and milk in my grits--both things he did. Also, his explanation as to why I got fried egg-whites instead of scrambled as I get at every other Denny's I vist, "...you know, when using egg whites, they nevvvvver fluff up like a whole egg." Whatever. We just wanted to get in and get out, but this took forever. With any luck, we won't ever have to travel that long boring route through Texas. And if we are, we won't be stopping here. And just to let everyone know I'm not being ridiculously picky, a woman sitting behind us got up to use the restroom and when she came back said to her husband, "This place is DISGUSTING!" read more

The problem is not the Flying J, is the Denny's inside! The wait staff is the worse that I've ever seen. Took us 10 min until someone finally came over to greet us and the place had only 6 tables to wait to. Waitress and even Manager kept passing by and nothing. Finally got a table, 15 to 20 for the waitress to come over to take drink order, the food came out after 30min and nothing looked really apetizing....we all got sick that night!! They have so many oil workers, construction ppl, and travelers that pass through there and they dont btr their service eventhough they get so much business from them. read more

Worst service ever. I think the girls at the register were either high, or just pain stupid. There was a huge line, and one of the girls just walked away from her register. The other girl had no clue what she was doing, she was more interested in chating than working, and three manager didn't seem to see anything wrong with what was going on. Took me 15-20 in line to get my change back. The bathrooms were dirty. Just all over horrible! I wish I could leave no stars. Then there was the Denny's! We walled in and the four people behind threes counter just looked at us like they wished we wouldn't come in. The hostess came, looked at us, got menus and led us to a table without saying more than two words to us. We sat for at least 5 minutes, probably more like 10 before anyone came. The waitress who came was very nice and told us about her terrible day and how she wasn't our waitress but scheduling was all messed up and there was only one waiter scheduled. She took our order. After a while, part of our order came out. I had ordered the Ultimate skillet, and it was definitely still sizzling when it came out. Unfortunately, I had asked for no peppers, and it had peppers. It was also extra greasy, even for a skillet, and the meat was completely burned. After about 10 minutes, the waiter came and asked if we were waiting for Mac and cheese for our child. We said yes, and he said they couldn't "find the macaroni". Huh? Okay, just bring us something that is quick to make. "Umm, but what do you want?" Just bring us a grilled cheese. "Oh, ok."so the rest of the meal came out, and my husbands eggs were cooked wrong. Sigh. All in all, the worst experience I've ever had at a travel stop, and we travel a lot! read more

Poor service at the Denny's restaurant. Poor service, poor food (egg was raw), wait staff slow as creek water. We could've easily walked out and not pay for our food. Coffee came in a dirty cup, restroom was disgusting, but the service and food were okay.

I drove a truck "water to water" for a time so I've been to a greasy spoon or two. This was the worst experience. Stood for a while to get seated, tables needed cleaning, coffee was cold and black as the oilfield around here, waited longer than usual for the food. No one cared to refill my drink, waitress never checked up - I didn't bother getting her attention. This was one of only about 3 places in my life where I just refused to leave a tip - it was that bad. read more

Don't bother. Service sucks and the retaurant is filthy. Wait staff could't give two shits.

So far so good. Everything looks clean. Even the bathrooms. The gas is at 2.09 a gallon. There is plenty of gas pumps and room for RVs.

Sitting in the Dennys restaurant as I am writing this. I was seated at a dirty table, had to ask for utensils, coffee was delivered with no sugar or cream. It took 30 minutes for the server to take my order, 30 minutes to get my sandwich that was delivered by the host. I have yet to see my server to give me a refill. She just tried to slide my check on the table and I had to ask for more coffee. I have not seen management and the floors are filthy. The management here needs replaced. I've travel all over the US and frequent these truck stops. This is by far the nastiest one I've been to. Garbages were all overflowing with trash. Cats everywhere eating the food people threw on the ground. The inside was just as disgusting, to the point that I refused to by a candy bar from this place. The bathrooms were beyond horrible. The sinks were so black from not being cleaned and soap all over the countertops & floors. It's to the point where a general/district manager needs to intervene! read more

I recommend driving by unless you need gas. This dennys/flying j is the worst i have ever been to. Servers show no sign of caring to seat you as their all arguing or outside smoking. Waited forever for her to take the order only to be told they were out of avacado, and cheese sticks. Turns out after ordering they were also out of nearly all vegetables and couldnt complete any of the 3 orders we had. They offered to bring something else but we waited another 20 minutes and never came (seamed brocoli for my child). Meals were comped even though only 2 were partially eaten. Im shocked this place is still open serving this kibble. read more
