I missed out on trying the flying trapeze in New York City when I visited in 2009, so I was ecstatic when the Philippine Flying Trapeze opened last year! And so conveniently right in the middle of BGC, too. Several weeks into their opening, I jumped at the chance to give it a shot. Will Hsu and his friends all have literally run away and joined the circus, and I am insanely jealous. As experienced as they are as professionals or as hobbyists, they are extremely welcoming and eager to accommodate. I guess they would have to be, if they're supposed to help calm your nerves. It takes a lot of guts, and a free spirit to strap on that harness, climb up that ladder, and jump off that ledge. But you know that they're with you every step of they way, because they're constantly reassuring you of safety measures, and relaying the procedure to you. But that is all the calm before the storm, because when you're up there, there's nothing else to do but close your eyes, and take the plunge! But, don't be daunted; although the ledge that you jump off of seems like a hundred steps up from the ground, it's not so bad from up there. The big net that you will eventually land on breaks the visual.
It's not hard to fall in love with flying trapeze, especially if you are the thrill-seeking kind. If you try it, and find that you can't get enough, hey hold regular classes that you can enroll in, and everybody is welcome! In fact, more than adults, I noticed that they are mostly children that sign up for them. If not, you can come in on a per jump basis. It isn't expensive, for an extraordinary experience.
So, hop right up! How often can you say that you'd willingly jump off of a perfectly good ledge? read more
