The staff are really knowledgable and helpful and will do there best to help in any way they can. They have helped me out on nemerous occasions when I have come in here looking for obscure sized batteries or DIY equipment. As well as DIY equipment they also sell such things as batteries, lights, kitchen equipment, household goods and they also cut keys. Their prices are really reasonable, often cheaper than the big DIY shops.

What does surprise me is how they manage to translate some of the customer requests into any form of sense?! If you've ever stood in the envariable, short but fast moving, queue to pay you'll have heard it :O) There's no hard sell here and they'll always be my preference as opposed going to some large faceless DIY store...and even if they are not cheaper (which they are in most cases!) when you take into account the fuel for getting to Weston or Bridgwater your better off going here instead....parking being the only problem if you want to buy anything large/heavy/awkward. Good luck to Darren/Phil/Kelly & Denise and hope they keep doing what they're doing! Mark PS: Why do pensioners HAVE to go shopping at weekends since they really should leave these days for those of us who work all week and who's time is precious & (mostly) we know what we want to buy..rest assured you won't see me shopping at weekends when I hit 66 :o)

Second confusion, yes they have moved from one side of the road to the complete opposite side! Third confusion - surely they can't stock EVERYthing? Well yes, yes they can. Lightbulb with a vintage fitting in green? No problem sir. Skirting board tacks hand made by virgins in Argentina? Third aisle at the back. One of those squeaky balls my dog lost in the park and now he won't play with anything else? You mean this one? *squeak*

Although on both occasions I knew I had a DIY problem I needed to fix, I didn't really have a clue what I was going on about and it probably sounded like I was asking for various 'thingies' in broken English. However both times the shopkeepers have been really helpful and pointed be in the right direction straight away, the items purchased were fit for purpose and good value. On the last visit I wasn't to sure which colour thingy to go for and the shopkeeper advised me to take the ones I thought were right and bring them back and exchange for a different colour if need be. Just the sort of friendly service you want from a local hardware store! I'll definitely be returning if I need to purchase any other thingies.

Clarence hardware is a proper old fashioned shop, a family business that has been open for the last 50 years. The hardware and DIY shop offers something that very few other shops do these days, they offer a one to one service. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are more than likely to crack a good humoured joke or two. They don't have a website because they just have too many varieties of things to list. To give you a picture they stock 11 types of florescent tube and 80 different types of light-bulb. This isn't spatially a huge shop, but they manage to fit a massive amount in...In fact their stock is so extensive that it spills out onto the street, tin baths, bonfire bins, compost and more are stacked by and even hung up on the wall outside. ...Oh and they are extremely reasonably priced. Tip: Clarence hardware offers a brilliant value key cutting service (only a few quid) and free local delivery of large goods. Open 9.45-5.15 Monday - Saturday

This is a cracking little utility shop that can supply you with a full set of equipment to make you the ultimate handyman. I do have a problem with this shop though, as when I go in, i'll browse, find a tool I have completely no need for, pay a little bit too much for it, then go home, wondering why I just spent my money on a collection of hacksaws of various different sizes!

All they know is how to read numbers. They know nothing of the building trade at all, so no good trying to explain anything to them. Every order you give them they get wrong. I came away, and back to a job in the Forest of Dean to find most of the items in the bag were wrong. It is a good half a day to go to the nearest Toolstation and get back to work. I then decided to order direct from the warehouse. This order was made on Wednesday morning. I was told that I would definately get the delivery on Thursday. I received part of the order, but the bulk of it was not there. As one of my employees received the goods I couldn't know it was incomplete until it was unwrapped. I phoned Toolstation to be told that the courier had it on the van and that it would be re-delivered. I left that job at 5.45pm, there was NO DELIVERY. I phoned the warehouse to ask what the hell was going on.They told me that because it was after 5pm the order probably wouldn't get delivered before next Monday. I now have 2 tradesmen at £180 per day each turning up for work tomorrow with nothing to do. Apart from that the owners of the house are coming back from holiday on Saturday to find NO HOT OR COLD WATER, NO TOILET AND NO COOKING FACILITIES. I will probably lose this contract because of the Cowboy outfit called TOOLSTATION. This is probably the 15th time I have ordered from them and not one order has been correct. If your son wants a cowboy outfit for his birthday, buy him The Toolstation company. They are very polite on the phone when they ask for your credit card number. That is when the politeness stops. I will tell everyone I know to avoid this bunch of idiots like the plague. I am now ordering the goods from Screwfix. They might charge £5 for delivery but their prices are cheaper and their service is better. so It is far cheaper to give Toolstation the big elbow.
