we had such a great experience working with Alex. we hired focus remodeling to re do our kitchen that was really not functional before hand. he got started on our project right away, and was so friendly and personable to work with during the entire kitchen renovation. he was very knowledgeable about different options and explained the differences in all of the materials we considered. our house is over 300 years old and comes with a lot of structural challenges. nothing was level and the framing needed work. Five stars just doesn't seem like enough for Focus Remodeling--they are truly exceptional. We have renovated 3 houses and 3 condos, but never worked with anyone who is as meticulous and committed to doing everything the right way the first time as Focus Remodeling. Alex remodeled a kitchen and bath for us and repainted every square inch inside the house in just 6 weeks! Along the way he corrected problems left by former contractors, shared sources that helped us minimize cost, and came up with a creative solution that allowed us to install a much larger refrigerator. His crew was wonderful. They did high quality work at every step along the way and stayed late on a number of occasions to finish up work. Everything in the house was treated with care and they cleaned up each day even though we told them it wasn't necessary because we were between renters. And when everything was finished, they the place was ready for showing. We didn't have to do a thing. What we appreciated most, however, was Alex's approach to dealing with the unforeseen--whether that was the issues that inevitably come up when renovating a 75+ year old home or dealing with the insulation, heat pump and gutter guard installers who invaded the site at various times during the renovation. Nothing ruffled Alex or his crew. They graciously worked around the other contractors and found ways to make everything work. We could not have been more pleased with the work that was done and the way everything came out. It exceeded our wildest expectations. And we have already let Alex know that when the current tenant moves out of our other rental property, he'll be renovating that kitchen for us. Alex and his team are the best of the best! Our new home in Sudbury needed extensive remodeling and repairs when we bought it this summer, and he was a joy to work with from start to finish. He oversaw the most gorgeous hardwood floor installation throughout the entire house (which included repairing/adding a new subfloor), two complete bathroom remodels, wallpaper removal, resurfacing, and fresh paint on every interior wall, pressure washing, new shelves, all new door hardware and painting/replacing, new appliance installations, the list goes on and on. There isn't a corner of this house he didn't improve. His work is impeccable, and I'm so grateful my realtor recommended him for the job. He's kind, honest, responsive, and his pricing is very reasonable - exactly what you would want for any home project. I've used Focus Remodeling for two jobs over the past year. The first was modernizing an old cramped laundry closet, and the second was renovating the attic area in an old house into a presentable and usable space. In both instances working with Alex was great. He answered right away upon initial contact, came out within a day or two to review the site, quickly provided an estimate, and started working within a week once I accepted the offer. The prices were reasonable, on par with other quotes I received, but I felt Alex did a better job up front explaining how he would approach the project. Competent specialists (plumbers, electricians, etc.) were brought in as needed. In both cases the job was finished in the time frame estimated up front. If any obstacles came up, they were explained and we agreed together on what to do. In the end I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and the value. read more
