Patio doors replaced with sliding doors and patio completely repaved.
    Nicholas C.

This was my second project with Nick at Fix It Once and I continue to be impressed by Nick's high standards and exceptional workmanship. This project was a major effort to repair exterior rotted wood around the house, repair our porch, prevent water intrusion from our patio, and replace 5 rear patio doors with 2 new sliding doors. It was a major project with complexities due to the condition of the house and required many decisions. I'm so grateful to have been working with Nick and his partner Dimitri. Nick's experience, communication, and integrity made all the difference. Throughout the project, Nick was an expert advisor and advocate when dealing with other contractors. In the planning phase of the project, he was able to quickly bring his window supplier into the conversation and the three of us discussed various options based on my needs and Nick's recommendations. During the project, he oversaw the contractors repaving the patio to ensure that all the details (design, pitch, properly filling in joints, etc.) were addressed to a high standard and to prevent drainage problems that were causing water intrusion. In one particular instance, he intervened to have the contractor lay in extra stones for the patio wall to make it flush with pavers - a detail that the patio guys would have missed. During the project, Nick discovered that the rotted wood was more extensive (columns and joists that were rotted through) than we expected both on our porch and in a corner of our house due to the original builder's poor workmanship and materials. Nick provided his recommendations, including excavating below the ground to access rotted wood and enable a comprehensive repair to the structural supports. He was able to get a contractor to excavate within a couple days so that he could make the repairs without delay. Nick was able to completely repair the damage with quality/durable materials and make systemic improvements to prevent future water intrusion/damage (patio pitch, treated wood, flashing tape, etc.). It's all about the details. It was clear that Nick spent a lot of time thinking about the details and doing the work in the best possible way. The result is beautiful work that I'm confident will stand the test of time. I'm very happy with the work and look forward to future projects with Nick.

He communicated with us throughout the project of installing a new Timberteck deck. His crew worked straight on through from start to finish without empty lapses of time. The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

The showroom is small but had every option available in situ so we could choose based on the actual product rather than just a catalog. Larry, our architect, was good at listening to what we wanted and giving his expertise when needed. I really wanted French doors and he explained why that wouldn't work like I wanted. He was happy to include them if I really wanted them, but he wanted me to understand the drawbacks so I wouldn't be disappointed if we went ahead. He was right. That is the kind of professionalism that puts Archadeck above others. We have ended up with an even better space than we could have imagined! We live next to a wetland so there was a long process to get permits. Archadeck was with us every step of the way, even attending the town conservation hearings, along with the survey engineer, to answer questions. Once the permits were obtained the work began immediately. Stefano's does the stonework and their crew did an incredible job and quickly! There was a mix-up with a delivery, however, they got it corrected quickly and still managed to get it done in the requisite time and it is solid, beautiful, and everything we wanted. Again, we had a particular design in mind and the crew chief recommended a slight change that made all the difference. They made a beautiful flagstone stepping stone path as well, set firmly with concrete in a very muddy area, that has been holding up amazingly well in the torrential rains we have been getting. The 15 x 15 room went up very quickly, with few setbacks other than the weather. The only major issue was with a third party and out of their hands. We had ordered custom windows so we could maximize the amount of light, air, and view. The manufacturer was less than forthright with their communication. Sarah, the Office Project Manager, and Phill, the Site Project Manager, were checking daily and doing everything they could to get the windows in. They even communicated directly with our electrician so that things could get scheduled quickly once they did arrive. Had it not been for the windows, the room would have been done in a matter of days! This crew worked together like clockwork. We stained the entire interior and painted the exterior, so we got close-up and personal with the structure. It not only blends with our house perfectly, but it is also solidly built with high quality materials. We look forward to using it for years to come! The whole team was extremely professional, asked and answered questions, and gave us great advice when we asked. We never had to wait for calls or emails to be answered. They were amazing to work with! If you are thinking about outdoor living space, then we can highly recommend Archadeck of Suburban Boston. True experts in every aspect of the project.

We signed at the end of April for our 3 season porch to begin work Sept 12, 2022 and be done on October 14, 2022. They finished in February 2023. Pros: Good quality work overall. Cons: Not honorable. We were told initially that some of the windows they ordered wouldn't fit since they had to move a support beam. Then two weeks later, after they told us new ones wouldn't arrive for 90 days, their tune completely changed, saying it was the window company that sent the wrong windows. We had a fiasco with windows without a clear resolution. Communication. We had numerous days of no shows of the crew, etc. Despite the CEO being on all the email communications, he never reached out about the long delay of the windows or any of the other issues. Silence. Added Cost. Almost immediately, when they finally started, we had to pay an extra $4k because our ground was more rocky than they expected. They couldn't have assessed that initially when developing the bid? Not the most tidy. We are not that fussy and have numerous folks work on our house over the years. They left trash around the site, even some of it blowing into our covered pool. We had to ask several times to move supplies that fell into the pool. My minimal standard is that a contractor be honest. I would not recommend Archadeck.
