I always go to Danielle, but Jen and the rest of the girls (and Bob!) have always been really friendly and make me feel amazing. My color comes out great every time, and they are always good at recommending new products and letting me know when i do and do not need a cut (not out for the $$, just for the quality!) I went to Foilz for the first time and got my base touched up and cut. I saw Samantha, a sweet, professional and personable young lady. She took about 5-10 min to assess my hair color, damage, cut and talk about what I was looking to achieve. You could see how intent she was on doing her job to the best of her ability and how interested she was to understanding what I wanted. The process began immediately (I went on a Thursday morning - 30 min after I called I was in the chair). During the application process, Samantha was checking the color, carefully applying it and running it through. 45 min later I was getting washed and ready for the cut. I had severe "chemical bang" - her cute nickname for the damage done by a local high end salon where I paid a small fortune for the damage). I could see she was a real natural. The finish result was incredible. Bouncy, shiny and healthy hair - despite the chemical bang. She blended it to perfection that it was no longer even noticeable. I must add that I am a real snob when it comes to salons and I have high standards. I went there on a whim to kind of hold me over for a future appointment that I had made for Danka Planka ( a high end salon recommended by In Style). Needless to say, I canceled that appointment last week and made an appoiintment to see Samantha again next week. She is awesome and an added perk is she is probably half the price . It is now a month later, and just got another compliment on the CUT AND COLOR today. For the first time in a long time, found someone who listerened, didn't take advantage and actually see a RIdiculous improvement in the health of my hair. she just gets it. Also, must add was given a business card and get 20% off if I refer someone AND The salon mailed me a 'welcome coupon" for 20% off next cut and blow dry as a "thank You". After overpaying for TERRIBLE cuts, highlights and blowouts in Manhattan, I decided to give my local salon, Foilz, a whirl. I had gone to Foilz 2 years ago before I got married and got the best color ever from Jen P, who moved and is no longer there. After being completely fed up with city prices and service (feeling like cattle every time I was in even the most upscale salons), I asked Jen for a recommendation and she immediately referred me to Marcy. I went in wanting a change and asked Marcy to take my blonde hair to a deep auburn. She warned me that because of my greys I'd have to come in for a LOT of maintenance which would be expensive, and also asked me to wait a day to reconsider staying blonde. I was so impressed with her honesty (almost any stylist would have jumped to have you in their chair and done the job right then and there). I woke up the next day, came back in, and asked her to touch up my less than stellar highlights which I had gotten at a very expensive famous salon a few months earlier. Marcy did a phenomenal job lifting my golden yellow highlights to a beautiful champagne blonde. She was thorough, honest, and kind. And the price was the cherry on top (I paid about a quarter of what I normally pay). The salon is extremely clean, friendly and comfortable to be in. I've since gone back for blowouts and I am never rushed. I am so happy to have found a new home for my hair in Bay Ridge! I was going to another Bay Ridge salon to have my hair cut for the last 3 years. Although they gave an OK cut, I always had to wait. The last time was the last time for them as I had plans for a dinner date at 7 and my appointment was for 5. I arrived on time and was told that they were behind and they could not take me until 6. You would have thought they would have called me. Anyhow, A friend told me about Jennifer at Foilz and I went last night, my appointment was 5:30 and she was waiting for me, what a nice change. She gave me a great cut, to bring out my best features, not the SAME CUT EVERYONE ELSE HAS!! We discussed how I liked a bit of a more conservative look for work but liked to get a little funky after work and on weekends. When she said "The cut is the cut, the product sets the mood" I realized she knew her stuff. Anyhow I was out by 6:25 and her 6:30 customer was eady to get in the chair. I have been a high maintenance blond for years and my blond was looking really shabby. I stopped in and Sam did an amazing job giving me a beautiful, healthy and modern blond color!! She is talented and really pays attention to what she is doing, she is committed to giving you all her all!
