I'm glad that not only Venice but many of the cities in Italy have open water fountains. It's refreshing to be able to find clean water on the go for free when you're visiting and travelling around town without having to stop at a shop and buy bottled water. Thankfully my sister was smart enough to bring refillable water bottles with filters with her on our Euro trip and these water fountains really made staying hydrated easy. Some people huddled around several of the fountains with reservations about drinking "tap" water, but I'd rather drink tap water than die of dehydration. I think people forget how important it is to drink water on the go. You just don't realize how dehydrated you are on a warm Italian day until it's too late. Thanks Venice and other cities in Italy for your free drinking water that's easily accessible. read more
