We got in a few people ahead of us. It's a deli. You can get sliced meat and cheeses here. They have a hot menu and cold cuts menu. You order your sandwich and then grab your chips and drink. All items separate. We ordered a sandwich to share. A 20in Phillidalphia cheese steak. She asked what we wanted on it, and I asked her right back what she would put on it. She said everything. Done. We took a seat since we were eating in. Maybe about 12 seats inside. Right by the deli chiller, or the windows is what you get. It's not meant to be fancy as they are focused on food. Due to the rush, it took a few minutes, but it was served up soon. I was in shock. She had split it into 2 10-inch subs, and I couldn't believe how much food it was. Had to wait a few for it to cool. It's been open 49 years. As soon as I walked in the door, the pleasing aroma of an Italian sub hit me in the face. It smelled so good. I ended up ordering a yummy turkey sub, but was tempted to order the Italian. Next time. What made the visit worth noting is the hospitality of owners. Richard and Jo Ann. Their kindness was something you rarely find anymore. The nostalgic mom and pop deli is a blast from the past, but in a good way. It was such a delight to converse with them. I wanted to stay longer and listen to the stories of the decades old business. I forgot to ask when their 50th is, but should be celebrated in a world where five years for business is a success. In addition to all the sauces, mostly Vietnamese and Korean, there are seasonings, spices, fresh produce including guavas, durian (frozen whole and peeled), baby bananas (apple bananas? not sure the variety) and Asian greens like Shanghai baby bok choi, gai lan, and water spinach, garlic chives and long beans. Didn't see pea vines but they are quite hard to get. Bulk rice and dried mushrooms, and fresh fish and seafood as well as meats including organ meats. Noodles fresh, frozen and dried as far as the eye can see. A small section of housewares. Outside the market (which is in the old Toys R Us if you remember back when) there is a small food court with roast duck, banh mi and pastries. There is also a Korean bbq restaurant and a noodle and dumpling restaurant nearby in the parking area, the Korean bbq is across from the market and the noodle dumpling house is next to where the old Borders bookstore had been (on the way out of the shopping center.) Worth the trip. We enjoy cooking at home, especially Asian food and we enjoy grocery shopping so this was a really fun excursion. And since we eat a lot of bok choi, we'll be back soon.
