Notably, my meniscal tests during the physical exam were negative. ​However, during the follow-up, the surgeon focused completely on a horizontal meniscal tear identified on the MRI--a finding that is usually degenerative and often incidental or asymptomatic in nature. ​Omitted Information: Other relevant MRI findings were not disclosed. After requesting a copy of the MRI report myself, I learned there was also a semimembranosus (hamstring) tendon tear. This issue is not treated surgically, and it aligned perfectly with the PA's initial clinical assessment. ​This lack of disclosure regarding alternative explanations left me feeling that the focus was more on scheduling a procedure than on fully exploring the correct diagnosis.
