Used to really enjoy this place, mostly for the ease of donating items... we didn't really "shop" there, but always felt good taking donations there. But over the last year or so, not so much. They've gotten really picky and the second you pull up someone comes barreling out to "inspect" what you're bringing. They seem to constantly come up with reasons why they won't take something and just generally act like they're doing you a favor rather than the other way around. I get they don't want people dropping off junk, but we always brought decent stuff. Not like we were trying to pawn off a bunch of broken-down garbage on them. If you just want an easy and pleasant donation experience, go to the Goodwill in Auburn. They take all your stuff with a smile and haven't forgotten that they're getting it for FREE so they'll make a profit no matter what they sell it for. read more

Getting real tired of thrift stores claiming their overpriced item sells for such and such an amount on eBay. First of all, no it doesn't. The people pricing don't seem to understand that an asking price on eBay is rarely how much it actually sells for. They need to be referencing the "Sold" tab of an item on eBay. Secondly, how much it resells for on an online auction site shouldn't dictate your prices. Do you know why? Because YOU'RE. A. THRIFT. STORE. Not a vintage boutique!! If you want to charge boutique prices, change your name. Well organized and friendly staff but, for the love of all that is holy, lower your prices!! read more

I love this little shop. On Tuesdays all clothes are priced half off. The first Fri and Sat of the month, everything but orange tags are half off the entire store. My Mom got Dad a worth $300 or more like new LazyBoy recliner for $75!!! read more

Ok.. it is a Thrift Store. So you are not going to get glamor, but the thing I like about this one is, it helps the local Hospice. The selection is only what is donated, but it does have some good selction of just about anything. I encourage everyone to donate to your local Thrift Store--just make sure it gives back in some way to the community. :) Peace... read more

Went in the other day because they were having a "big sale". The poor woman ahead of me asked the cashier if the price of a particular furniture item was firm. (Remember that sign I mentioned in my first review that sits on one of the displays and says, "We listen to offers"?) Right. Not only did the cashier roll her eyes and tell the customer no, she and the other cashier proceeded to insult the customer after she left. "Who does she think she is? Does she think this money goes into MY pocket? Would she try something like that at Target?" I gently mentioned that they do have a sign stating that the store listens to offers. Me, and my comment, were met with stony stare and "Will that be credit or debit?" First of all, Target pays for their inventory and does have to recoup a specific price point to make a profit. You do not pay for your merchandise. Everything you sell was donated...given to you free of charge. If you don't like people asking if the prices are firm, take down the freaking sign that clearly states that you listen to offers. Second, yes, I personally do ask about discounts at Target and nearly any other retail store where I shop. If an item is a floor model, or in a box that clearly is damaged or taped shut like it is a return, the item is scuffed, scraped, missing a part, marked discontinued, etc., then hell yeah - I'll ask if the price is firm. I'll ask if there are any coupons available that week. I'll ask if the item is going on sale next week. I'll ask if they can honor the sale price this week. Back to the review. I don't care for people (paid or volunteer) who bash and insult customers who are not present to defend themselves, and who do it in front of other customers. If you must bash, at least wait until you are in private. read more

It is a great store with great volunteers...but some are forgetting the flip side of thrift. You say it is for a good cause, and I agree, but some of us cannot afford to go pay retail, so we shop at thrift stores because we are poor. Yes, we are benefiting a charity with our donations and buying there, but the other side is that before thrift stores were trendy, they were needed by the needy. THEY STILL ARE! And I am one of those needy! Case in point: Used, beat up plastic storage boxes, $6.50 at Hospice. New on sale plastic storage boxes at the hardware store across the street, $7. Caveat emptor. As a needy person, this place does have high prices! End of story! read more

Neat little thrift store - and remember, it's for Hospice! Fairly decent selection of stuff. Books section is okay, not great, but okay.

When I first moved here, a friend told me about Hospice of the Foothills because I love to shop. LOL. I mean I reaalllly love to shop. Haha! So I dropped into HOTF and I loved it! I bought some christmas decorations, a chair, and some clothes for my boyfriend! I can't help myself now. When I need a little shopping to heal what's hurtin me, I drop into HOTF for some shoppin therapy. LOL. Sometimes I go in and take pics of stuff I see for my friends and text them the pics so they can tell me whether to buy it or not. Stuff is so cheap here you cant go wrong when you need a quick shopping fix and don't have a lotta coin. The peeps here are pretty cool too, so all in all you can't get a better deal than HOTF. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

This is a great place to come and find treasures.The stuff they have is like new or very lightly used.Prices are good.They have furniture that is in good shape. And it is giving to a good cause. My husband used hospice in his last days,and they were great and I also have taken advantage of there grief group. So by helping this thrift store helps so many people. read more

waaaaaaaay over priced. Some jeans are up to $9, lamps $30, I've seen shoes as high as $40 for crappy old boots. Plus there is always bad oldies music playing way too loud. This used to be a place to browse and loose yourself for a while, now I find myself annoyed with the music and high prices, walking out empty handed most days. I only go on sale days now where the prices are still just above normal thrift rates. I always donate to the fire dept thrift since they haven't raised their prices in 30 years. I know, b/c I've been going there that long. That is what I consider a real thrift store. read more

I love this place! Since we are no where near a Salvation Army or a Goodwill, it is a nice little place to go. Prices on some items are higher than they should be, but overall I was pleased. I purchased a beautiful couch that I had been looking for for only $110, and a beautiful comforter for my bed in a Wedgewood-blue design for only $15. Agree about the books: not much of a selection. Best for trinkets, some jewelry, and throw pillows. read more

I love that this store make donating my things easier and I also love that they support the Hospice which is a very good cause, however this store needs to take the word THRIFT out of the title because there is nothing thrifty about it. The prices are more aligned with a boutique gift shop and as others have noted, the prices are sometimes as high or higher than buying new. I used to shop here regularly many years ago but now I only go in once in awhile. When I do, I am incredibly shocked by how high the prices have climbed and I end up leaving empty handed. The price they put on old, outdated furniture is particularly ridiculous. There are far better thrift shops in Nevada County that I now give my time and money to which is a shame because I do love the cause that they represent. If I am going to spend my hard earned money for something however, especially when it is USED, I expect to pay used prices. read more
