But over the last year or so, not so much. They've gotten really picky and the second you pull up someone comes barreling out to "inspect" what you're bringing. They seem to constantly come up with reasons why they won't take something and just generally act like they're doing you a favor rather than the other way around. I get they don't want people dropping off junk, but we always brought decent stuff. Not like we were trying to pawn off a bunch of broken-down garbage on them. If you just want an easy and pleasant donation experience, go to the Goodwill in Auburn. They take all your stuff with a smile and haven't forgotten that they're getting it for FREE so they'll make a profit no matter what they sell it for.

We used to find great deals on clothing and household items there. I've found the last few visits to be disappointing. People complain about the high cost of Goodwills but this place makes them seem inexpensive. You can still find a deal but few and far between. It's become much much more "Gift" than "Thrift" You know how you can buy kids t shirts at old Navy for 5 bucks? You can buy an old Navy T Shirt here too for the same price. (With cracking decals and stains.) Much of the clothing is more akin to consignment store prices. I will still keep stopping by, but with lower expectations. They definitely have some cool things available with a bit more vintage choices than most thrift stores.

They had some really nice brand name clothing items for decent prices. The customer service was wonderful! The employees were very friendly and easy to chat with. The manager went above and beyond by bringing me a shopping cart when she saw my arms full of the clothing I was finding and sorting through! One small disappointment to me was that the identity protection roller stamp I bought was not pre-filled with ink. I would have preferred if it was. I think it will come in handy, but to be honest I have not used it yet, because it wasn't filled with any ink (it comes in the box so the customer can fill it up). Two years ago I needed a small 4 or 5 drawer dresser, nothing fancy, to be used in my home workshop, for various tools, etc. I walked in and within 2 minutes found the very thing I was looking for, and for a price that was quite reasonable. After two years, I decided that the workshop needed a wider look, with more space for everything, and that the tools and other items I kept in the drawers, needed to be seen so I didn't have to hunt for something. So, I removed the things in the drawer, put the small dresser in my car, and took it back to Sweet Life Thrift. Carolyn Maginot is the owner, and was most gracious to accept the dresser to resell. The shop is small but has lots of rooms of men and womens' clothes, nicknacks, hats, and more, that would tickle anyone's fancy (small furniture pieces, jewelry, antiques, etc.. The parking lot is just up the corner on the right from East Main street and Hughes Rd. She has a sign up every day it is open. If you are curious if she has what you might be looking for, the shop phone number is 530-802-5288. Supporting our small businesses and meeting the owners is good for Grass Valley. The prices at Sweet Life are as competitive and even cheaper than GoodWill. Give it a try and I don't think you will be disappointed.
