Recently I picked up my new glasses. From the moment I put them on I suspected there was a problem…read more They gave me severe double vision. The girl told me to wait and put them on the next day since I had been wearing my other glasses. I ignored that advice and put them on when I got home. After 4 hours of torture, I took them off. The next morning I tried again. I wore them for several hours, but had to change to my old prescription when I drove as the double vision made it unsafe. I called and was told to wear them for at least a week. I tried to explain how bad it was and that it was dangerous, but the sweet girl just kept saying, "I understand," and not inviting me to come in. After a couple more hours of hell, I looked closely at the lenses of my old vs new glasses and there was a definite difference. I called back, got another girl who this time gave me an appointment. When I arrived I got the same girl who helped me the previous day. She is the reason I am writing this review. Unfortunately, she never said her name. When I explained that I was having a serious problem seeing out of the glasses, her attitude became rude and dismissive. She said, "Weren't you just here yesterday?" in and angry tone. I explained how bad it was and tried to show her the difference in the lenses. I said, " There should be a prism in the lenses." She snapped at me, There IS a prism in them!" I held my ground while she searched her computer for what I do not know. She seemed intent on proving me wrong. I asked if there was a machine she could use to check the prescription and see if the prism was correct. She finally went back to look. Fortunately Glenn appeared at that point (if you go there, insist on having him help you with your glasses) after a while, she came back and told me Glenn said they were sending the glasses back to the lab. I asked if they had the prism in them and she replied (I kid you not!), "I don't know. I don't know how to check." The story has a happy ending. The glasses came back with obviously different lenses and I could instantly see out of them. I wore them driving home. But the way I was dismissed and disrespected has shaken my faith in this practice. I have had more glasses than years that girl has been alive. Eye glasses serve one purpose - to help you SEE. Brushing off a patient and telling them to wear glasses for "at least a week," is dangerous!

The manager Theresa was amazing, she went above and beyond to help me out in a pinch. she was able to find a frame to fit my lenses to get me by. The frame selection there was very nice. I will definitely be stopping in again when I come to visit in the summer. This time I would love to check out the doctor and buy some new glasses. Theresa I can't thank you enough for saving my trip home, you are lifesaver!!!!

I am pretty diligent about keeping regular with my eye exams as my family has a history of glaucoma. Dr. Mila Batushansky is superb when it comes to eye health. She performs a very comprehensive and robust exam every single time. This includes looking at the back of my eye as well as measuring eye pressure. I was pleasantly surprised to find out years ago that her office boast state of the art technology that allows you to do that. Eventually, after having kids, I started bringing them in for exams as well. She is equally as great with kids as she is with adults. Dr. Batushansky was the first eye doctor that convinced me to try contact lenses. She was very patient with me while I tried on multiple brands during the first few months of wear until I finally found the ones I liked. They offer contact lens "training" for beginners that helped me learn how to put them in and take them out. The office is very welcoming and comfortable, although there isn't even much waiting involved as they really do keep to appointment times. The front desk staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. On many occasions they would speak to my insurance to get resolution. I also love that they offer variety of frames for every price point. To date, I've gotten multiple, including designer brands. Overall, I've recommended this office to all of my friends and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a very knowledgeable, up to date with latest technology, well-studied and well-read doctor.

While I was in Johnstown, he caught my weak side and pawned one off on me. The pup was cute and all he did was shake, so I named him "Shivers". I asked my brother why he shook so much and he said he was cold, seeing the dogs were born and had been living in S. Carolina. Okay... He was right, the dog continued to shake and he is as happy as a clam but he still shakes from time to time. He sleeps in my bed, under the covers and jumps into my bubble bath before I do. Drain. Oh yes, we are talking about glasses and A-1 Optical. Which brings me to this... Located very near to my house, quick and convenient for emergencies, like puppies grabbing your reading glasses off the night stand and dropping them on the floor to lose a screw or to mangle the hell out of the arm. Walk right in and the owners, Barry and Janet who are always very pleasant and understanding will do the best that anyone can do to fix your glasses as soon as possible. My husband has had recent Lasik surgery and no longer wears glasses, but he has stopped into the shop many times in the past for glasses and quick repairs. I have stopped in myself numerous times, because of lens popping out of my glasses or loose arms. Nine times out of ten it is a quick fix, no charge or a very minimal charge. They have walls and walls of glass frames and sell contacts. Their optometrist has been with them for years and they seem to have a steady flow of business and repeat customers. The owner of my local garden center buys his glasses from here and the garden shop also does snow plowing in the winter, so they have worked out a barter system with A-1 free glasses equals= they will never have to shovel or plow again. That's nice! Now, to find an answer to waking up in the middle of the night to step in dog do! I rarely call him Shivers anymore, in fact he has quite a few names, "you little SOB, you little bast--d, you little"... A-1 is at the rescue for your eye care needs. They accept most insurance, are family owned with friendly service. Check them out!

I went to Pearl closer to my home since I do not live nearby. They said 1st off some people cannot wear plastic, something to do with the geometry of frames vs face and that the store I purchased from should have taken better measurements. When I called the store the woman was rude. I am just going to pay a little extra for now on. Pearl has been nothing but helpful and kind while the woman at A-1 is always experiencing a bad day. ONCE AGAIN, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

It was weeks ago and sorry to say I forget their names, (sorry guys!) BUT hopefully you know it's you! The service was top notch and both were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, honest, funny, and engaged with my 6 yr old who was bored out of his mind! Thank you both!! I was greeted with two friendly smiles, my glasses were adjusted a few times until I felt comfortable, and the frame assortment and pricing is the best I have encountered with this level of service. Highly recommend the Lens Crafters in Oxford Valley Mall, upstairs, by the old Macy's department store. (I parked at the Food Court and it was the perfect spot to enter in through.)

But Erin, who was fun as well as a total sweetheart, helped us with the different types of lens options, etc once he decided on a frame he liked. She also explained which frames could handle the lenses for his particular prescription which was pretty nice. Although he didn't get them that day, she had no issues with writing down estimates for the various lens formulas with the frames and even offered to call to the store nearest him to see if they had them in stock. Erin was awesome. I highly recommend seeing her if you are in the area.
