Our insurance changed and I need a new optometrist. The location is listed as open until 4pm, but it was closed when I arrived at 12:15. The sign said they would open again at 1. Maybe they close for lunch? Call ahead so you don't waste your time. To the business: Please let customers know you close during the day. Just needed adjustment on glasses I didn't purchase from him and Shu said sure sit down. He fixed them at no charge. Everyone else in Burlingame, that I asked charged at least $10 Like I told Shu that is horrible business ethics on their part. Why would I want to business with them, who are obviously money hungry. Nice place for eye care! Located right on broadway in downtown Burlingame, this place is pretty neat. It's tucked next to some popular shops, and is quite visible when you drive through downtown. I got an eye exam here and 9 month's worth of contact lenses. They cover most major insurances. Inside, the decor is cozy, like going to a friend's house. There are designer glasses on sale. The price is very reasonable--the contact lenses are cheaper than online! Also, after I ordered, it arrived in 2 days--also faster than online, and shipping was free. Maybe they get better deals on contact lenses as eye professionals! In terms of the service, the eye exam was on time, fast, and professional. The whole eye exam was done in less than 30 min. Dr. Kita is quite professional--he noticed my old lenses had too high power, so gave me lower power lenses to protect my eyes. Overall, my go-to place for all eye care needs. Dr. Kita and Sho rock! My whole family go there for all our eye needs. Frame selection limited due to the small space, but it's good. A yelp-ish note: They even recommended doctors for laser eye correction which tells me the main concern is eye health and customer comfort. read more

3 years ago I walked in (I wasn't a client yet), to see if I could get my glasses frames adjusted. Shu was very kind, helpful, patient, and a pro. He made my glasses/nose pads fit my face, and did this for me again a few weeks later when I came back with the same pair (I had tried to adjust them again and messed them up...again), without ever making me feel like I was annoying. He also changed out the existing nose pads for thicker, better ones. Since then I've been going to them and have always had a good experience. Dr. Kita is very calm and efficient (eye exam done in ~20 minutes), and Shu is great as always. He takes care of paperwork swiftly, follows through with requests quickly, offers good advice, and he always has a really pleasant attitude. I can't give advice about For Your Eyes Only for people who have more complicated eye issues but if you need an eye exam and glasses/contacts do not hesitate to come here. They also have a pretty impressive selection of trendy as well as classic frames, for such a small shop. read more

Thank you Dr. Kita and Shu for a pleasant and hassel-free experience. It's an amazing feeling to meet as strangers and leave feeling like friends. And I wouldn't have met them if it wasn't for the frustrated search for an Optometry that accepted my type of insurance. I called six places that would accept my insurance (Eyemed)+ certified optometrists onsite+ good inventory of eyewear and wait for it...friendly staff. Frustration started when I was told that Eyemed is the "inferior" insurance compared to VSP (gee, thanks. I'm just grateful to have insurance) but moving on. Long story short, I live in Oakland and looked in the east bay, SF and finally in my old neighborhood of Burlingame. And poof, Dr. Kita was there. Speaking to Shu over the phone was great. His kindness and patience melted away my cynicism of finding a decent (and affordable) pair of reading glasses. He answered my questions with ease and humor, and had greater composure when I had to change my appointments a couple times AND forgot my wallet at the eye exam. Dr. Kita was as polite and enjoyable to speak with. Very thorough exam, he explained his findings clearly, and without the dryness of medical conjectures you sometimes get during an exam. Moreover, he asked questions about me. His genuine, inquisitive nature was so fresh. Yes, the space is tiny. But I walked away with a fabulous pair of Calvin Klein frames, an updated eye exam and a warmth in my heart by meeting the nicest people around! read more

Great little place! It's quite small, but they actually have a variety of selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses so you won't be disappointed when you walk in and look around. Dr. Kita is wonderful and is thorough with the eye exam. I found this place randomly years ago when I accidentally sat on my glasses, and they fixed it right away with no problem. I've been coming here for about 3 years now. No complaints! I had an appointment this afternoon at 130p. I was sitting at my desk waiting while my stomach growled. I called in, spoke to Sho and he said "Can you get here in 15 minutes?" BAM! I was in there at 1130a! So accommodating! Parking is a hit or miss being that it's Broadway. But I found one fast! Dr. Kita is FAST. Fast as in it's thorough and complete but FAST because he knows what he's doing. He asks questions and makes sure that you're taken good care of your eyes. Sho is very helpful and patient. Apparently my insurance coverage changed. He took the time to call my insurance himself and get the updated rates and coverage himself for me. So helpful! He placed my contact lens order and advised that they should be ready either tomorrow or at the latest Thursday. FAST! It's true that the location is small but it certainly quaint and again, personal customer service is priceless. read more

Dr. Kita is great and my husband and I have only had good experiences going there. My husband stopped by and he got an appointment for the next day. The appointment was quick, friendly and on time. A few months later I had the same experience. They took the VSP insurance and handled the claim for me. Just had the co-pay. Today I stopped in because my husband's glasses needed adjustment. Dr. Kita fixed it right away free of charge. Nice friendly small town kind of place. The office is really small but that just sort of adds to the charm. read more

These guys are incredible!! I've been going here for a year and a half now. I went him to Mass for vacation and realized on my flight there I forgot to bring my contacts. I came into the optometrist because I shattered my glass frames and my new ones were going to take 5-10 days to arrive. Dr. Kita loaned me a new set of frames temporarily while I waited for my new frames to arrive. Since I don't wear contacts this was a huge lifesaver and I couldn't thank him enough for being so generous with his time even though I had already bought new frames from somewhere else. read more

The quality of service has gotten worse and worse though. The exams don't seem to be as thorough, and the high pressure tactics after the exam are ramping up.
