The bad part is no website so you have to go look but they usually have the things other stores are out of.

Been many years since I went here, and in a recent mad search for Belgian beer (which seems to be…read moreunobtainium nowadays, for whatever reason!), I ended up at Joe Canals. Lots has changed since my last visit(s). The entire back-end of the store used to stretch into what is now a mattress store, and was filled with a large assortment of craft beer and "make your own six pack" sections. While there's still a decent selection of beer here, their main focus seems to be liquor and wines, which dominate the majority of the shelves. Prices are decent, and are on par with every other liquor store in the area. For liquors, they seem to carry some more obscure or harder to find brands, which is a plus. Workers here have always been friendly and helpful as well. The downside, is that unfortunately echoing what others have said about the beer section - WATCH THE DATES. While the styles I tend to purchase age gracefully (stouts, porters, belgians) - a vast majority of the date codes I saw were 1 to 2 years past their best buy, and covered in dust. Many craft styles from local breweries that require constant refrigeration (IPAs, stuff with fresh fruit flavors, etc) were also fairly dusty on the shelves & unrefrigerated. All in all, probably a good place to get liquor and wine, and perhaps "macro" beers, but a heck of a lot of the beer was either expired or improperly stored. Not sure how frequently I'll be back, and definitely more of a liquor place than a beer one.

The Jersey Shore has plenty of bars to choose from, make this one your stop only out of…read moredesperation. When I first got to the LOL (used to be Brandy's Tavern), I sat at the bar and my order was taken right away from a barmaid that looked like she had a chip on her shoulder. Though my service was fast, it was full of false enthusiasm and big fake smiles. I ordered a beer on tap and couldn't handle any more after two sips. The beer was skunky and I could see what looked like dust particles floating around in my glass. When the barmaid was done texting on her cellphone, I got her attention and she apologized for the beer being nasty (all while saying it was because her boss was cheap) and asked if I would like something else. I ordered a Jack and Coke, because how could you screw that up? Apparently at the LOL you can because the coke tasted like the syrupy mess left over at the bottom of the bag. I got the barmaid's attention again and she was incredibly rude about replacing my drink. I didn't get to check out any of their food because I was never offered a menu. I also overheard the barmaid complaining about people not leaving her any tips (and honestly, with her bad attitude, I didn't blame them!). I'm not sure what sort of business they are hoping to accomplish at this place, but it's quite sad to experience. Treat yourself to something better, there are at least five other bars within a 10 miles radius where you'll have a much better time.
