    Gem mining
    Jonathan P.

My wife found this place online and conveniently only 10 minutes away from her mom's house. Our daughter who is 14 months has an infatuation with animals. So when we found out that this place was so close to the in-laws, we said why not? It is a very small petting zoo and it definitely has that farm vibe to it. The buildings and decor all look original and there were lots of pretty flowers everywhere. When we went, the price of admission was as advertised, $5 per person and feeding baskets were also $5 per basket, and the mining gem basket was another $5. It can quickly add up if you have a relatively large family/party that is coming, so just a heads up! There were several species of animals that you could feed and pet, there were also a few that they didn't allow you to pet (might bite). For the most part we saw pigs, chickens, ponies, alpaca, zebra, goats, ducks, bull, roasters, bunnies, and several other bird species (I'm no animal expert, so I couldn't tell you what they were even if my life depend it on it). The reason I'm giving this a 4 star and not a 5 star is because of the condition of the animals. You could see the very dirty water they were drinking from, there were a lot of flies on the ponies, and the chickens were pecking on each other. A couple of them had bare spots where they were being pecked at. Normally other places we've gone, we usually see attendants cleaning and up keeping with the animals, but here there were only 2 employees. One at the register and the other giving the pony rides. The gem mining was a nice added feature. Pretty relaxing, searching for gems in the water/sand thing. Not sure what it's called, but I've uploaded pictures with this review. For the most part, I had fun and most importantly my daughter had fun. She fed a horse and the alpaca and had a blast doing it. We were finished with everything in about 2 hours. That should give you an idea of how small and how quick this trip will be if you decide to come here. Hope this helps!

Petting Zoo setup at my friend's outdoor wedding

Ford Farms was a WONDERFUL addition to my friend's wedding--to think of a petting zoo at a wedding seemed so unconventional but BOY was it worth it! (It was an outdoors afternoon wedding, no biggie!) The animals were adorable. The more and more they kept putting out, the more surprised I was because there were so many! I haven't been to a zoo since I was a kid and the feeling these animals brought back was AMAZING. The animals are well-behaved and well taken care of and the family itself was so professional, friendly and accommodating. They were willing to travel 3.5 hours away to a wedding in the East Bay Area and were so generous with their time. I'd definitely recommend their service to accompany your next party--kids, children's, birthday, wedding or themed. What more could you ask for? And, their son was adorable as he was riding on top of one of the horses, brushing their backs and even told us their names. Great people!

We were the first wedding at Ford farms, and it was beyond the best experience ever. The owners have the BIGGEST hearts you could ever have, and have such a love for people and animals and it really shows through their character and business. I think most of their reviews on all platforms shows this, and the people who have said negative things about them, well quite frankly I don't think they are very happy people to begin with. They have become really good friends of ours and will continue to be our friends forever. OH and my best friend ending up getting married here because of how AMAZING the venue was and how amazing their customer service was. The facility/venue is always TOP NOTCH!! I know here in the valley it can get really hot and the flies unbearable, but they do the best they can and it really shows. If you know these people, they would sacrifice their OWN plate to feed and take care of their animals. Highly HIGHLY recommend, for any and all occasions! Ohhh I almost forget, it makes for some Beautifulllllll pictures SO MANY SPOTS. Keep in mind my wedding was in 2017, and the other one was this year in 2020. They have just made the venue even more perfect for any occasion. Okay rant over, enjoy!!! You will

Look no further. Ford Farms is the MUST HAVE at your future wedding/party/event! I hired Form Farms for my wedding this past weekend and it was by far the best purchase of the entire celebration. 15 animals including miniature ponies, turtles, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, and even a pot belly pig! Holly was responsive, accommodating, and professional. The event was all the way in the Bay Area and they made the trip without any problem! They arrived on time and provided so much education to all of the guests! Perfect for children and adults!

Never disappointed! Tonight was a special event night. Going on every Friday and Saturday 7 to 10! Vendors ( our favorites are the popcorn and dip n dots). A live band in the barn. Haunted house hayride and pumpkin patch. Pretty inexpensive, for all that you get! The best part?! Feeding the animals! Baskets are only $2 ! The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. They are also open during the week! Take your family and enjoy!

I just had my 40th birthday party at Ford Farm. It was an amazing evening. Holly and her husband were very accommodating and easy to work with. They went above and beyond to make sure my party was all I wanted it to be and more! The venue is rustic and beautiful and the kids all loved the animals. We will absolutely use them again in the future and recommend them to everyone we know!

It was my son's first time he's 17months, I have an almost 4 yo and my nephew is 8yo. We normally visit the beginning for the month but this past weekend was the only weekend that worked with our schedule and they do recommend visiting earlier since it's not as busy. We arrived just alittle around 11am there was a line at the entrance. Entrance fee is $10/car (suggest carpooling). There was definitely quite a bit of ppl. From reading recent reviews I'd said our experience was better than theirs despite the busy weekend. Thankfully they allowed us in to park, it was busy and we ended up parking on the second dirt lot. We did our normal train ride and hayride. The line for the train ride was extremely long we waited about an hour. But it was also my first time experiencing the train going all the way down to the pumpkin patch area. Which was quite nice, the ride was longer and it saved us a trip walking down hill with our littles. The hayride was probably a 15-20min wait. The prices had little to no change since our last visit 2 years ago. We decided to eat some tacos at Charlie's since they weren't busy and it was the closest food vendor also prices were very reasonable. Ordered 4 tacos and one quesadillas for the kids and it was pretty good, the service was fast and friendly. They addressed the long wait issues and reassured the public that they are working on getting another train, working on a bridge to alleviate the traffic and getting more staff. Overall I do highly recommend going the weekend in the beginning of the month to avoid long waits and the crowds. We did see so many vendors on the area where the train rides were but we were just to tired and so were the kids that we didn't get to check it out. Perhaps next year. The kids had fun regardless. The staff we encountered were nice.

And take you back to the beginning. There is also a tractor ride that also takes you to see the whole place. The rides are beautiful both of them. I love the trees and the decorations and everything. They do a very good job arranging everything. We came last year and we bought tickets for the train but there was a bee attack. I had a flowery blouse and they were on me all the time I was there. So we had to leave. Good thing I saved the tickets and they honored them this time. They told me if I don't used them that day I could come in Christmas and use them then. I thought it was nice that they do that. So we used two tickets and now we have a good excuse to come back on Christmas. yay! The prices are modest. Everyone around were enjoying themselves. Very fantastic place to spend the evening. They only open on weekends though. So plan ahead.

My favorite is thanksgiving dinner. It tastes just like November-- Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. They have other tasty savory pies like the chicken pot pie, blueberry pulled pork, and the breakfast pie. Of course, you could get some sweet ones too! The main reason we stopped was to try the Okie Pies. I had never heard of them and I am always looking to try new things. They remind me of a large empanada or handheld meat pie. We tried 3 savory and 1 dessert Okie Pie. They were out of blueberry so we settled for Apple and it was good but super sweet. I love desserts and unless you're a diehard apple pie fan you may find this to be too sweet. Savory flavors were salsa verde, chicken pot pie, and blueberry BBQ pork. The blueberry BBQ sounds odd but it was everyone's favorite. Everyone was very friendly and there was even someone who let the kids pet the goats and roosters. We'll stop on the way back home for more blueberry BBQ Okie Pies.

I finally had a chance this summer on a day off to take the 40 minute drive and check it out. I was not disappointed. This is a small but year-round farm stand right off the side of the road with gravel space for cars to park. It is not greatly protected from the elements--and it was a hot hot day. I'm glad to see they at least had a few fans for the employees. The owner regularly works her stand, and when I was there, she offered to cut some fresh herbs or flowers for me while I perused the wonderful assortment of fruits, veggies and local honey. I ended up with some of the sweetest green grapes I've ever tried, a few different honeys to try (avocado and orange blossom), some freshly roasted peanuts, cucumbers, and an assortment of stone fruit. Everything was delicious, but the grapes were my favorite. Check out Sweet Girl Farms on Social media, or check out their website. They are active in the community, help to support other community growers (they even have eggs and other offerings), and enjoy a worthwhile visit to what should soon obtain the title of local treasure. I may not be able to stop by every week, but I hope to be a several times a year regular. This place is wonderful!
