If you are visiting Westmead Hospital or Children's Hospital Westmead you can try the 5 minute walk or catch a bus. The bus stop is at the bottom of the ramp & across the road. This station would be great for those wanting to explore Parramatta Park. You could get off here and amble through the park back to the Parramatta city centre. In fact when you plan to attend a Parra Park event, like Australia Day, this would be easier than Parramatta Station......and I'm pretty sure all trains stop here!

Although the transport website claims they've only been in operation since earlier this year, I think it was just called something else previously. I'm pretty sure this was the first free bus loop in Sydney, and I remember going on it for the first time quite a few years ago. It goes from the interchange at the train station to Argyle and Macquarie Streets west, up O'Connell, past the Leagues Club to north Church Street, Prince Alfred Park, Lennox Bridge, Phillip Street, Parramatta Wharf (where you can catch the Rivercat), Charles and Macquarie Street and back to the interchange again. Phew. Actually, the whole loop only takes about 25 minutes, so you can jump on anywhere and get to anywhere you want in pretty darn quick time. I'm all for walking, but to save some weary feet and to keep cars off the road, this is a fantastic initiative for the community and tourists alike. The driver of one I caught the other day seemed a little harried at the other less-than-perfect vehicular operators on the road, for which the solution, I think, is more buses. More free ones. Yay.

As train stations go, Asquith is pretty nice. Its small and doesn't handle big crowds so waiting…read morefor a train here is a much nicer experience than many other stations. Except at school arriving/leaving time where students from the two high schools in Asquith pack the platforms. On the down side, there is very little cover so waiting for a train in the rain is a fairly damp experience. There is no connection between the two platforms so if you find yourself on the wrong side of the station, you need to leave the station, walk down the road a bit, up over the railway bridge (with not much footpath and much traffic) then down the road a bit to re enter the station on the other side. Not much fun for the elderly or those with mobility issues. The big downside to Asquith station though is that very few trains stop here. Its closer to home than Hornsby so I would much rather walk to and from Asquith but end up at Hornsby most of the time because there are something like 2 trains/hour at Asquith. Occasionally I luck out on the way home and get an Asquith train (and a shorter walk) but not often.

Outdoor seating on the verandah or inside near the bar, come here for a relaxing setting. Although the outdoor temperature was a bit cold on the day we visited, they have outdoor heating and blankets to keep us warm. They have a top cocktail list and we began with one each. The flavours of these were lovely and refreshing and the presentation also fit the setting. Brunch always has to have a Bellini and this one was a nice mix of Champagne with white peach and vine peach liquor. The skyline swizzle was a mix of rum, açai berries, raspberries, fresh lime and bitters. Gin, pineapple, lime and bitters made up the Honolulu cocktail and it was awesome. Food wise, we left it in the hands of the waiter to order us an array of foods, beginning with some beautiful oysters and a vinaigrette. The menu is predominantly seafood, a natural choice given the proximity to the sea. From the sea menu, we tried the Balmain bug risotto, which was cooked just as risotto should be, and with the addition of nice small chunks of Balmain bug. Beautifully presented with edible flowers, Creme fraiche and edamame, this was a popular dish amongst our group. We also tried the yellow fin tuna tartare with avocado, black sesame and ponzu, accompanied by some rice waters. The kale and avocado salad with quinoa, chickpeas, seeds, pine nuts and mint was so refreshing and nice and light to go with the meal. We also had the swordfish steak special with sugar snap peas and a romasco sauce, a seafood lasagne and a side of bread and butter. It's a perfect location, lovely food and efficient service.

Still, I can't really complain about this place because it was rather clean, and quite accessible as well. Okay, it is probably not one of the best stations that I have visited, but it was still rather nice.

Marayong Station, is a very local station, with few customers on the platform. Just one station…read morefrom Blacktown, it is perfectly situated on the T1 Richmond Line. Unfortunately, due to this, trains will come less frequently and have more stops. When staffed, the staff members are extremely helpful and friendly and will assist at any time. I definitely recommend Marayong Station.

This station seems to have seen better days. Still, you can actually catch a train here, though most of them tend to shoot past in their rush to get to Central Station.
