I attended four different elementary schools in the 90's and early 2000's but this is the only one…read moreworth remembering. Latimer has changed a lot since I graduated all those years ago, but I have so many memories and stories to share of those good old days. From 1999 to 2000 this school underwent some Maintenance or something and the school was transferred to Strawberry Park for the year. The walls used for handball are still there and will likely stand the rest of time. Near the older basketball courts was actually our PE area, and where most of the early morning rallies and attendance. I was there when there was a sandbox, later a tan bark box, which was on the fence opposite of Latimer Ave. I remember the wooden and metal playground in a sandbox near the lunch area, later replaced with astroturf and the current main playground that can be seen from Latimer Ave. I was there when the new (at the time) library by the admin office opened. I remember all the balloons and cheering, you'd think it was a city parade. The previous library had just been a hole in the wall. Near the old basketball courts was just a giant patch of grass with a sci-fi cart you'd seen on an amusement park ride. My friends and I would play make believe so much on that old thing or fill it was sand. Where the newer basketball courts are was just a giant field and a small area for baseball/kickball. The former lunch area was actually near the center of the school by the octagon building. There had been a small tree planted there in remembrance of a girl, I think her name was Christine. I used to climb the tree in the small field by the octagon. I'm so glad it's still there. From Latimer Ave there used to be two portables on the field belonging to Small World Schools, a daycare program which I attended. Always had nice teaches and made most of my early friends there, one of which I still know and talk to. I was on cafeteria duty a few times since we got a free lunch out of it - usually a slice if pizza,or burger, or chicken nuggets, and a choice of milk. We called the lunches we got at school 'hot lunches' and food from home 'cold lunches'. These are but a few of my memories and I'm glad to see the old school is still there. May future generations know the same happiness, acceptance, and warm memories I've carried with me all these years. Thanks for the memories

Baker school I consider to be one of the top schools in the Bay Area. We cannot say enough how much we appreciate the teaching staff as well as the principal and the administrative staff that always have gone above and beyond facilitating good care and teaching for all of our children. I highly recommend the school to any of those in our area that consider having their children attend! Many thanks Baker school for all that you have done to make our children very successful going forward, in fact our oldest is currently attending UCLA a lot to do with the care and expertise that has been put into giving five star teaching throughout every classroom they've attended at Baker school. I was assaulted by the front desk Kathleen Villanueva on 10/31/2024 which resulted in me having to…read morefile a police report. The front desk along with Ms Naylor all committed perjury to police officers and falsely reported that I was the one who did what I called to report about and the HR department of the school district tried to allege that there has been all this misconduct on my part AFTER I complained with a police report on their staff - they ironically have no emails , incident reports, or police reports against me or my conduct at this school as a parent but are now alleging this with zero documentation after I had to file a report on this school - this gross misconduct and illegal behavior needs to be investigated immediately. I tried to complain once before about Kathleen's unprofessional behavior and was ignored. Kathleen and the women in this office have gotten away with so much that they now feel emboldened to put their hands on parents of the students. After I filed a police report and contacted the superintendent- they retaliated and stuck to a similar lie behind Kathleen (which they weren't able to say the same story when separated and on the stand which is why their claims were dismissed ultimately). They are now trying to falsely defame my character to other school staff members and parents by saying there is a retraining order against me when there in fact is not further adding to the lengths these people are going too to save themselves from a pending lawsuit

Teachers like these two are a detriment to education and students. Grading happens so infrequently for assignments, weeks to months can go by after turned in. As a parent it is impossible to be proactive and actually assist your student prepare when assignment are never reported until final grades are reported. None of the teachers can even give a course summary of topics covered prior to the starting semester and act as if the curriculum is a national secret. Schoolwork is never sent home so you cannot even see what your child is learning, assist or even get a tutor because the teachers keep all work internal. It appears that the majority of work is now computer generated so the teacher can sit on their asses all day long and pump out AI generated assessments with out actually doing anything. The principals are equally derelict and will make every excuse under the sun to avoid making any real changes. If your child has to attend this school and you are concerned about their education, or college... run, don't walk to the exit. Good teacher are worth their weight in gold, unfortunately Moreland Middle School educators are worth their weight in crap. Both of my children have suffered from this pathetic excuse for education.

Ever since I finished 8th grad this school district has gone through some major revamping. By the time I got to De Anza college they even beat out Cupertino and Palo Alto school districts. Mind blown. They did a good job of retraining teachers that have bad reviews from students and parents. Some of the bad teachers were even let go. After looking around and going around every school for an inspection, they did a good job of keeping their curriculum up to date. So much better than the antiquated stuff I had to see when I was a student here. For teachers that work here, they are highly appreciated especially during their retirement year. He and his classmates were all accepted to their top choice high schools with placement in honors and advanced classes, and I have no doubt that they're all very well prepared to succeed in high school and beyond. We loved everything about the Old Orchard experience from the school's seamless response to Covid, the inclusive sports program, investment in arts and language, and diligent preparation for high school admissions process.

After OOS, kids attend highly selective high schools, and doing great at rigorous classes; which is again a great compliment to OOS teachers for good preparation. OOS does a great job at helping their 8th grade students with the high school admission process. The school community is wonderful, great families, many of which became our close friends. The classes are small, allowing each student to grow. There are always lots of opportunities for parents to be actively involved in school life, but it is not mandatory if your busy life does not allow you to do it. Highly recommended this school!

My wife and I found Canyon Heights Academy (CHA) more than 3 years ago when researching pre-schools…read morefor our first child, and have been hooked ever since. We now have our boy in 1st grade and our girl just started in pre-k. There are many aspects that make this school the best Catholic school in the south bay by far, but the ones we value the most are: 1) Integral formation: many private schools focus on academics to the point the kids look overworked and bored... even though well achieved academically. At CHA, the integrated curricula go through all aspects of human formation: intellect and values, integrated in a seamless way. What's more important is that children at CHA develop a love for learning that goes beyond the classroom. The result? CHA children are not only well versed academically, they're forming their conscience and values that will make them successful -and happy- in life. 2) Community is the blood: school is an extension of your family, and at CHA, we feel at home. Other families are generous, participative, and loving. The principal (and his family), teachers and other staff members are dedicated, kind and readily available to discuss any issues or concerns you may have. Truly unheard of nowadays. 3) The pre-school Montessori program is amazing: children are curious and playful, and CHA encourages them to play and learn in their Montessori classrooms. All their teachers are trained in this methodology and do an fantastic job. 4) Faith is not only accepted, but expected: in other schools, we have sadly witnessed how faith is diminished to a "religion" subject on Fridays for 30 minutes, while principals ask you to attend mass as a "pre-requisite" to qualify for special rates. In public schools, we're at a point where faith is not only banned, but mocked, and our children are target of bullying because of their faith. At CHA, faith is part of our lives and strengthens the individual. Not an after thought! Overall, we are truly enjoying our time at CHA, and can't tell you how lucky we were to have had stumbled upon this school. We really hope that we may be able to continue to attend this school for years to come.
