It can be very difficult to get cabs in the JP/Roslindale neighborhoods... that is if you don't know about Forest Hills Taxi. They are a local company and both reliable and quick to arrive. They usually have several cabs waiting at Forest Hills MBTA station and arrive at my house within 10 mins. when I call. The dispatchers are crotchety as all Hell... you give them your address and they bark out "look for the cab" and hang up on you. So, if you need to know specific time frame, make sure you ask at the beginning of the conversation. read more

So, yeah, I was sure I had already written a review for Forest Hills Taxi. I guess I hadn't. See, when I moved to Boston a year and a half ago, Forest Hills Taxi was the beez-fucking-kneez. They were usually at my house (in Rozzie Square) in like 5 minutes, no qualms no bullshit. So, I thought I'd given them this GD glowing review and felt the need to correct that shit straight away. Anyway, this is the update to a review that was never written, I guess. Memory FAIL. Anyway, so, after my initially bitchin' first impression of them, like a relationship that goes south well before you acknowledge it, shit slowly started to deteriorate. They became less reliable, took longer to arrive. I'd have to call them multiple times just to get them to come, and in some cases it'd be like 45 fucking minutes. And now sometimes, they just don't even answer the fucking phone! So, in the span of like 18 months they've gone from 5 stars to borderline 2. They're pretty GD close to 1 star right, now. The reason I give them 2, is that it's still worth it to give them a call. And if by their infinite grace they actually decide to answer the GD phone, they might actually still dispatch a cab quickly. After they were 25 minutes late picking me up (and were not even on their way to my house), I canceled and called Bay State. I also got into a little back and forth pissing match with the dispatcher, who even called me back to yell at me more. Save yourself the aggravation and call almost anyone else. read more

U r better off walking. Don't even bother calling these clowns. They told me that my taxi would be there "as soon as possible" - I asked if that meant 1 hour, 30 mins, or 5 mins. They said it was their policy not to say. 55 mins later I call and they tell me that they thought they had picked me up. They sent one 15 mins after that. Morons read more

Man, there is a lot of hate for these guys. I don't get it. I've had nothing ng but good experiences, aside from one night where we got sick of waiting and just drove ourselves (though it was a crazy busy night, and even Uber was quoting us 45 minutes to get to Fort Point). Places which Forest Hills Taxi has taken us: the airport at 4AM; downtown on short notice on a Friday; the airport again, but this time with an in-law who is Very Particular about cabs; a wedding when no one was sober enough to remember the name of the church. When I see a 2 star average for a place, I think "will likely harvest your organs for resale," not "once they were late picking me up." No, they're not Uber, but they're also not criminally mistreating their employees while shoveling money to Trump. Blame the broken-ass medallion system if you want, but these guys do a perfectly fine job. read more

DO NOT CALL! I called to be picked up a 1/2 hour goes by and no sign of the cab. I called to see where my cab was I was told that a road was blocked off and they couldn't get me. I then asked why I was not informed of this when thy found this out. They never called to tell me this I was late for my flight. The dispatching lady was rude and argued with me when I asked about all this. She told me to get a life and hung up on me. I cannot believe the level of disservice. I was treated so terribly and with no sign of remorse from a company that was supposed to do their job. I'm disgusted.... read more

Call anyone else but this cab company. This morning I needed to go to the airport at 5:30am. It took well over 20 minutes for the taxi to arrive; and when it did finally show up, the driver pulled up to a house on the *street around the corner from me about a hundred feet away* and started to honk his horn. At 5:50am! After he finally drove to my house, the driver never got out of the car to help with bags. I needed to give him directions to the airport. Once at the airport, once again, no help with bags. Call Metro Cab or Hello Taxi, or anyone other than this company. read more

Absolutely ridiculous that I call for a cab and am sitting here waiting over an hour. Please don't tell me that it will be here right away, if it won't be. Be honest and say the wait is over an hour. I've called 4 times in the past hour and each time it's down the street. With all the competition between cabs, uber, and Lyft, you'd think your company would try a little harder. It's as if you are an annoyance to have called them. It was 8 am. Maybe that's a busy time. "Location?" (I give it) "Going where?" (I tell them.) "You're all set." (phone clicks off) I call back because I was interested in some kind of timeframe: "I just called to request a taxi for ... etc." Before I can ask further dispatcher breaks in "You're all set" I quickly say before she hangs up again, "Can you give me any idea if it will be within the next half hour or longer?" "No. Soon as possible." Hangs up. I can understand needing a window, rather than a specific time, if not an advance call but not being willing to engage at all is not useful. I did wait half an hour, feeling irked at being spoken to like a nuisance. Then I called back to cancel; I just lacked confidence it would come in any kind of timely way. Wish I could feel confident using a local company. Improved communication skills would go a long way to not leaving a bad feeling. read more

Terrible. Required a ride downtown and needed in 15 minutes. Called office three times, first time no car ever showed up even though I received a recording that it was in front of the house. Their response, will be there in 2 minutes! 30 minutes later, another call to office where is taxi? Response, we don't know, will send another. 50 minutes after second call, in front of wrong house, will be along in a few minutes. 55 minutes later taxi showed up. Next time Uber. read more

If desperate to get home from Forest Hills and the bus is MIA/not coming for 40 minutes, etc. these guys are . . . . well they happen to be there. Last time I was in this situation and decided to pony up for a cab I thought I was being kidnapped. The guy said oh yeah when I told him where I was heading but veered waaaay off the beaten path and kept on veering. So I started giving directions. Apparently to this driver "now, stop at the next light - this one right here - stop HERE" means "totally ignore me and keep on driving until I start yelling." Not worth the $7. read more

Giving even one star feels like too much. I called for a taxi and after 20 minutes called just to check if there was an estimated time. They told me that they had picked up the wrong person, but hadn't bothered to let me know. They told me they would send another one right away. I got another call after 20 minutes asking where I was. I gave them the intersection again. The woman said that she had never heard of the street. I was blamed for this somehow being my fault. I tried to politely explain my position and was yelled at, (passive aggressively) told to have a nice day, and hung up on. read more

this is the absolute worst cab service I've ever used. it's impossible to get boston or metrocab out to JP as it is. this company is based out here and still can't get anyone to your house on time. I've never had a cab arrive to my house in less than a half hour. I usually cancel the cab altogether after arguing with them that if I knew I could wait 40 minutes for a cab, I could have just taken the train the first place, which they, always being extremely rude over the phone can't understand. it is nearly impossible to get a cab from this place and never once has been timely. don't even think about ordering a credit card cab. you will be sorely disappointed. and very, very late. read more

I'm gonna write to yelp to see if they can hook me up with some negative stars. This place is the worst customer service experience I have ever been through. Here is how my experience with forest hills taxi went: 1) Called for a cab 10 minutes from FOREST HILLS (where the company is supposedly based) at 10:02 2) Waited for a half hour 3) Called back to politely check on the status and received this: "Haven gotten anyone yet hun...people aren't picking up our calls you just gotta sit tight" [hangs up immediately] 4) Wait another half hour 5) Call again. A man asks my name and I said that I don't think he can find it in the system through my name because I never gave it in the first place and he responds "Girl I'm not tryin to get your name for my own purposes. You think I wanna look you up or something? It's just for the cab driver. Chill."...sorry dude, not in the mood to chill 6) Wait 10 more minutes 7) Call to check the status and then they lie and said they tried to call me. What a load of poop! After waiting half an hour, on sunny day, mid afternoon, begging for info when I called back, I was screamed at, asked if I knew anything about Boston ( he had said the gout was at xyz address and I asked where that was). Forest Hills Taxi saved 3 of us from being late to an early a.m. flight to San Francisco after we had called Top Cab (from Yelp recommendations) and they completely stood us up one hour after we had called them. Forest Hills Taxi was phenomenal. It was a post-snowstorm a.m. and it was rough for cabs. Top Cab apparently could not find any drivers but never bothered calling to tell us. We almost drove to the airport (which would have cost us a lot for a 10 day strip) but Forest Hills got someone to our house in 15 minutes and tolerating our multiple phone calls for updates over a short period of time as our nerves were on edge. The driver was terrific. We live in Brookline on the JP/Roslindale line. read more
