New park management! I lived at Forest Retreat for 3 years, for the most part I had a good experience, great neighbors, and the park management kept the park clean and maintained. The new park management are a husband and wife team. Nepotism never works within any industry. I had a run in with the park manager named Mark, after seeing my dog playing with my neighbors dog he approached me and asked me to keep my dog on a leash, it's the rule so I did, while speaking with my neighbor with my dog on a leash he walked up to us and asked me if I was going "to comply" I didn't answer bc his approach was too aggressive, he didn't like that so raised his voice and again asked if I would comply, I just looked over at my neighbor, Mark said "don't look at him, do you comply"? I got up and left without saying anything. It was a weird confrontation. Next Mark stalked me in his golf cart, video taped me, then followed me back to my spot, when I was about to enter my Rv I turned and noticed him parked in my driveway video taping me again. I gave my 30 day notice bc I will not be intimidated, stalked and harassed by a little man who doesn't possess the temperament to be a park manager. If you complain to the front office, you complain to his wife, so there is no accountability for the lack of action to this matter, so there will never be consequences for such egregious behavior. The park has gone down hill, and occupancy has gone down since this duo arrived. If you plans to stay long term, think twice, there are many RV parks in that vicinity. read more

Grass never cut and when it is you have a mess to clean up at your site. Horrible new management. If you wonder why sooooo many open spaces I can assure there's a reason. Noise from all areas. I get the nearby stadium loudspeaker, the rodeo park at end of road with Fast and Furious cars all night, and late night loud music from bar across the back pond but when it's all day from someone in the park and just disrespectful and rude and nothing is done about it but they tell you they're working on it so you continue to pay monthly that's wrong. Worse when it's a grown older adult causing the issue. And the If you're not in the low paying clique and you're paying for the most expensive spot losing you is ok compared to clique. Do your research. Lots of parks in the area. I have pics of grass uncut and mattresses laying outside for days but will have to find review site that allows photos. Hope this helps someone. Oh and don't expect any electricity refund soon after leaving. A nearby park gave us same day we left but here we are still waiting for our refund from Forest Retreat. read more

Bathroom area is clean and plenty of them to choose from. Dotty the lady at the front desk is very friendly and welcoming. They have a mail system that works not like the last place at Laurel Springs RV Park which only had organization over small mail in envelopes. Good luck finding your package at Laurel Springs. Forest Retreat has an organized mail room. The dog park has plenty of room for the dogs to run. The park has cameras to see who is doing what and a nice pool area. Fishing next door to the resort at Bull Silas Park. The location is close to shopping and things to do. read more

My wife and I spent 3 months this winter in our RV. Among the choices in the area, this one is the best, by far. The staff is friendly, spots level and clean, bathhouse is the cleanest I have ever seen. Spaces are pretty well portioned with area between in most locations. The proximity to essential needs for shopping is excellent with the new strip mall area. However, the neighborhood is very sketchy, be aware. The only complaint for the park is connectivity. WiFi and cable are included but they are NOT suitable for anything. Cable connection is reminiscent of my 1970's TV with antenna. WiFi, well it didn't work for most of the time, at all, and was soooo weak it barely functioned for an iPad. I would stay here again, but don't plan to work here or watch netflix. What a pleasant surprise. Moving out of our house in Kingwood and stayed here to help with the transition. This has got to be one of the nicest RV parks my wife and I have stayed in. Grounds are well maintained and quite attractive. Shower/restroom facilities were immaculate. People were friendly and helpful. Nice RV park but management is strange. Lots of non stop barking dogs and kids that scream and holler out playing. This park is FULL of full time working people. BIGGEST complaint- the 50 amp plug had burn marks. We asked several times to have it replaced. The breaker we checked and worked but a little un-nerving plugging in with burn marks. Never got changed. It's been 19 days since we checked out and still have not seen our deposit refund!!!! Refund is finally in the mail. Don't think we will stay here again. read more

Nice park but a little pricey for a one night stay. Website doesn't give rates. They charged us $49 with our Good Sam's discount.

We've been here a few months now. Park is very well kept, safe, and clean. (And most importantly) quiet at night. Owners are very friendly and helpful. There are a lot if very cool special touches such as coffee, ice, free cable, and dog treats available. The pool is quiet and refreshing most days. Laundry on site is a dollar a load, so it rivals going to a Washateria in town. The other people here are friendly and welcoming. We like the little nature trail and dog run as well. I think our only complaint is that in the evenings the WiFi can be slow (we think because so many people use it) during the day, I don't tend to have a problem. You can't stream Netflix, but I was able to web surf Facebook or eBay just fine. Forest retreat has made our temporary living situation so wonderful. read more

My daughter and her family lived here for a year and I visited often and got to know the managers as well as I was often there to help with my grandchildren and pick them up after school. I was also able to participate in some of their activities and found them to be great. I especially loved the Friday night pot lucks and bonfires. It is very clean as well and seems to have a wholesome environment and qquite safe. I did worry a bit about my grandkids and their bicycles but the residents seemed very aware of the fact that kids were around. I would highly recommend this park. read more

We have stayed at Forest Retreat two times. Each stay was for three months, and I have nothing but good things to say. The staff is friendly, and the park is super clean. Laundry is also reasonable, and well maintained. Campfire Friday night is also great fun. We stayed in a 40 ft 5th wheel. read more

I've never posted anything on Yelp before but this time I can't resist. DO NOT EVER STAY AT Forest Retreat RV Park in Porter, Texas. We have friends in Kingwood who's house flooded. They have a motorhome that they have been staying in, dry camping. Our friends went by Forest Retreat, told them their house in Kingwood had flooded And ask if they could dump their waste and fill up with water. They were told NO if you want to rent a space for the night you can. This is not The spirit of Texans. read more

We stayed here for three nights over Memorial Day weekend. The park is very clean and there is a pool, small dog area, multiple bathroom/showers, and nice clubhouse area with free ice, coffee and newspapers. Cable and wi-fi were working and we took advantage of both. Trash is picked up curbside each morning. The concrete pull-through site we reserved was level and hookups were well placed. There were some long-term residents but the larger room additions/porches and "yard junk" were pretty much non-existent. We were a little disappointed in that the website indicated there were lots of trees, the name of the park is even "Forest Retreat", but in reality the only trees of any size were along the outer edges of the park and only those spaces on the outer ring backed up to the woods. The trees within the park itself were small and sporadic and none of the sites were shaded by trees. It is basically a parking lot with some grass and some small trees. Our "patio area" left us on the concrete staring at the side of the Class A rig next to us. Not many people out and about so it was quiet, although there was some music/PA system announcements from surrounding locations that could occasionally be heard. They also claim to not allow "aggressive breed" dogs, but we came upon a woman walking a large gray pitbull while walking our pup early one morning. So...clean park with nice amenities but not really the "wooded" atmosphere we were expecting. Even though it is 25 minutes from our home, we will most likely not return. read more
