A Beautiful private Lake. We had a nice swim Then sunbathed. Then took the paddle boat out and went fishing. I caught two, she caught four. I'm still hearing about that. We cooled off in the Pool and sunbathed some more. At Dusk we watched the sunset from the Hot tub. Finally we ended our day around the Firepit socializing with some great folks. Why can't everyday be this way. Its official. We Love This place!

Ask the Community - Emerald Lake Naturist Resort

Is there a mixture of ethnic people at the reaort?

I've been there three times and, as I recall, there were Anglo's and Hispanics. Honestly, though, naked is naked. Ethnicity doesn't matter. We're all the same without our clothes ;-)

It's a quiet place to live which is amazing because I can't stand chaos. Dogs are typically on a leash if outside and there's a dumpster in the park area which helps keep the grass clean. I've lived in apartments with dog shit everywhere and that's just not the case here. The park manager is very clear on how things work, pricing for parking your rv,late fees and evacuation rules if late on payment. She has been more than generous as to help me feel safe living by myself, she's there if I need an ear or advice about pretty much anything. I can sit with her for hours just listening to her stories. The stay is reasonably priced and late fees are honestly a blessing considering how expensive everything is now in 2023. I can't say for sure how long I'll be living here but I'm sure l'll be living here for at least 2 more years.

The new park management are a husband and wife team. Nepotism never works within any industry. I had a run in with the park manager named Mark, after seeing my dog playing with my neighbors dog he approached me and asked me to keep my dog on a leash, it's the rule so I did, while speaking with my neighbor with my dog on a leash he walked up to us and asked me if I was going "to comply" I didn't answer bc his approach was too aggressive, he didn't like that so raised his voice and again asked if I would comply, I just looked over at my neighbor, Mark said "don't look at him, do you comply"? I got up and left without saying anything. It was a weird confrontation. Next Mark stalked me in his golf cart, video taped me, then followed me back to my spot, when I was about to enter my Rv I turned and noticed him parked in my driveway video taping me again. I gave my 30 day notice bc I will not be intimidated, stalked and harassed by a little man who doesn't possess the temperament to be a park manager. If you complain to the front office, you complain to his wife, so there is no accountability for the lack of action to this matter, so there will never be consequences for such egregious behavior. The park has gone down hill, and occupancy has gone down since this duo arrived. If you plans to stay long term, think twice, there are many RV parks in that vicinity.

This is a larger RV Resort just north of Houston. I started a one year trip across the US at the…read morebeginning of 2026 and it's my first time in an RV so I may not have a lot of perspective on what to expect for an RV park. However, this is my third " resort" so I feel confident giving an opinion. Overall and considering the monthly rate of around $30/night plus electric I'd say it's ok. Not great and not terrible. However there are certainly a few things that need to be changed for me to give a better review. We had some very cold/freezing weather that really wreaked havoc with their water lines. They shut them off in advance of the deep freeze which is understandable but since then the water has been shut off for repairs three separate times including today. The overall upkeep of the park could use some work as well. About half of the laundry machines don't work and the picnic tables that come with each spot are in dire need of replacement. Many of them including mine have rotted wood which is embarrassing when having guests over. The main gate doesn't work and was supposed to be operational for a while now but is not. I would also guess that at least half of the spaces are filled with permanent campers and many of which are definitely way past their prime. Calling this a resort is a bit of a stretch. One of the other issues that I have to point out is the frequent presence (especially at night) of freight trains which are adjacent to the park. If you are a light sleeper you will have problems with the trains blaring their horns through the night. As for the clientele, from what I can tell, most people keep to themselves and I guess that can be expected when half of the spots are filled with permanent campers and not people on vacation. The staff is decent and helpful and they do have scheduled activities for many evenings and the public spaces of the lake/clubhouse/grill pavilions are nice and clean. The spaces are large enough to park your rig and two cars and the grassy area is usable with decent space and many trees. The weather was too cold for me to try out the pool and hot tub so I am not able to comment on them but they seem decent and clean. I also did not use or look at the public bathrooms and shower facilities. Next time I am in the Houston area I will probably look for a different place to stay. Overall, considering the low price, you could do worse, but I think you could also do better for not a lot more money.

Fantastic site, kind staff. Our go to for trialing in Roanoke! The dog park is handy too!!read more
