This is supposed to be a Gunerra. Loose ball of not established roots in a pot with no growth. :(

I ordered three plants from Forest Farms at Pacifica online. They arrived as scheduled. The box is a little bit overpacked -- the plants are stapled inside of it, and unpacking the box without damaging the plants was a bit of a challenge. I had ordered a strawberry tree, a tube of Gunera, and a 1-gallon pot of giant Gunera. They strawberry tree arrived fairly nice, though a little worse for wear. The smaller tube of Gunera was okay, too, with good leaves. However, the main part of the order, the large Gunera was pathetic. What arrived was a loose root ball that did not appear to have been growing in that pot -- no roots or anything into the soil, just a ball that had been covered with soil. It was incredibly small -- smaller than the other species of Gunera that was in a tube. It had zero leaves, zero growth tips, just a loose ball of roots and possibly some stem. Not expecting it to do anything or survive. I contacted Forest Farms by e-mail, and after four business days, received no response whatsoever. I tried the number from the website, and it just rang. Don't think I'll order again -- two of the plants were good, but they were "add-ons" for the larger gunera. That was sad, and customer service is apparently non existent. *Edit: So, customer service did reach out to me. They offered to refund me for the Gunnera, and told me they "trim the leaves" off. The plant wasn't actually rooted or established in the pot, though, and it was a tiny little rootball. But, they did reach out and did refund for it, and I can't ask for more than that.

Excellent packaging and comes with a catalogue having very wide variety of all plants and fruits!

We asked Greg to give us a bid on a backyard project we'd been trying to figure out for a few years. We'd gotten a few other bids which basically recreated one or another idea we threw out, but we didn't really know what to do. Greg has vision! He was exactly what we were looking for. Someone who could look at our yard, listen to our concerns, and come up with a solution. What he came up with was perfect so much better than our ideas. It was also very reasonably priced. When it come down to doing the job, his guys were super nice, and they made sure to do the job right. Our backyard is beautiful now.

After picking out our plants and paying the young man, he asked me to get my vehicle and drive around back to where the plants that I just purchased were, in order to load them up. I did as he asked and as I drove around the back I pull up along side the man and my plants. Suddenly this older gray haired woman comes out fist clinched screaming at me and began slamming her hands on the hood of my car over and over again then approached my passenger door and open it with my young son in there frightened by this crazy women. I asked what was the problem and she keep saying "why are you parked in my drive way?" To which I calmly replied "to load the plants I just purchased?" but she continued the sharp questioning over and over again, until I finally had enough of her insanity and I told her to shut my door and I'd gladly move it! She abruptly turn and left without another word. Needless to say that place is too beautiful to have a nut job like her at the helm. We won't be back! Sad. Perhaps she was without her meds that day, or perhaps she simply has no manners, but either way, its a shame to have a woman like that working around paying customers!

Shortly after planting, one of the trees began…read moreshowing signs of significant stress, while the other three - planted in the same area and under the same conditions - continued to thrive. I contacted the nursery for guidance and assistance but did not receive a response for more than two weeks. When they finally replied, I was told they do not guarantee their plants. No effort was made to inspect the tree, discuss possible solutions, or offer any accommodation. Instead, the response focused on suggesting that the issue was the result of something I had done. I understand that plants can be unpredictable and that not every issue is covered by a guarantee. However, I was disappointed by both the lack of responsiveness and the unwillingness to work with me toward a resolution. As a result, I will not be doing business with this nursery again. Based on my experience, customers should not expect much support once the sale has been completed.

Not once did an employee offer to help. One employee was not busy and actually walked in a circle around me then went over to help someone else thirty feet away. I then saw the same employee helping another person that just came in well after we did. Not a single employee greeted us. We were looking for specific items and had questions but were ignored. Although the inventory is quite good, we wound up going to another nursery in town and spent a few hundred dollars on shrubs and got amazing customer service. Looks like we won't be going back to Shooting Star Nursery ever again. First impressions are always lasting ones.
