Based on my daughter's suggestion, and a ton of YouTube comparisons, I hired Forestry Films for her wedding on 7-7-2018. We just received the wedding film and I love it! It was hard to justify the cost to my wife, but this was probably the most important thing for me. I had been out of work for 18 months, and right in the middle of that, I'm helping to plan my daughter's wedding. Now that I'm working again, I've engaged Forestry Films to edit the full ceremony and speeches. Part of my original deal included the raw footage, and even though I know Premier Pro pretty well, there's no way I could edit as well as Forestry Films. Let's be honest, you can get a wedding videographer for $3000, but if you really want quality, you're going to spend $4500-$7000. When I was comparing, I wanted at least above average quality. Ever since I discovered Forestry Films in college, I was determined to have them as my videographer when I got married. So when I got engaged, I knew it was Forestry Films or nothing. Unfortunately for me, they're based in California, and at the time, I lived in Florida. So, it was really painfully expensive to hire them. (They were a fourth of my wedding budget - no joke) . BUT after watching their video? I can say it was worth it. And as crazy as that sounds, I'm standing by it. Here's my explanation: I work part-time as a lifestyle photographer, so I have pretty high standards for visuals. I knew I needed someone with stabilized, non-shaky and in-focus video. I also knew that I wanted to not just be able to capture the visual aspect, but also the audio. How else would I be able to hear my dad's speech again? Or my vows? Audio is super important, and Forestry Films nailed it. But most importantly, I knew if I wanted my wedding video to tell a story - not just of my wedding, but my marriage. And if you hire Forestry Films for anything, you hire them because they will tell your story. Their videos aren't a recap of your day, they're a romantic and intensely personal narrative of who you and your significant other are... It should also be noted that they won't alter the video to fit their narrative. They won't make you and your partner out to be something you two aren't. No, they'll accept you for you and they'll run with it, and make it into something tangible and beautiful to share with the world. That is what I expected from them, and David and Harmony delivered. David and Harmony gave me a wonderful video that'll treasure forever. (I've cried every time, by the way.) I shared it with my family and friends. (They loved it.) And, one day, God-willing, I'll share it with my children and grandchildren too. Some day, my parents, family and friends will pass away - but I know when that day happens, I'll still be able to remember their memory at my wedding - the way the talked, moved and laughed. That's something not even photo can capture. And that kind of experience is priceless. For that reason, I view my film more as an investment that only gets more valuable with time. So thank you, David and Harmony. Thank you for making my day special. For capturing everything, accepting us as we were (weird and wonderful), and for giving me a treasure of a lifetime. It almost seems silly writing a review for Forestry Films because after you've watched even one of their videos, you know you have to pick them to film your wedding day. I know the only thing getting in the way of you picking them is budget, but sit down for a moment and listen up... when all of this wedding stuff is over, will you care more that you have a beautiful film to look back on or had a caprese salad as an appetizer? Drop the caprese salad and do what you already know is the right thing to do... pick Forestry Films to shoot your wedding. As we watched other weddings they had done, we looked at each other and wondered, "Are we even cool enough for these guys to film us?!" But through their sneaky ways and the happiness of the day, they made us look like Oscar winners... and the best part about all of it was that we were just being ourselves! Forestry Films is absolutely professional and doesn't get in the way of anything and yet captures everything. Our friends and family were shocked when a video came out because they didn't even know people were filming that day! We chose Forestry Films because my now husband has pretty high standards for film and photo competency. Of the top videography vendors we were in between, Forestry seemed to be the best fit for services offered (including raw footage) for the price. Yes it was a large investment, but it really was worth having videography. Initially I felt a bit out of the loop because I wasn't part of the initial call with them (just my husband). All of the other vendors made a point to speak with both the bride and groom for consultation calls or meetings. It wasn't a deal breaker, but a one off. Once we committed to booking the date, it was really easy to work with Harmony and David on an agreed payment plan (we split our total into smaller payments every few months to make the wallet hurt less). We even received a thank you package that was so sweet and thoughtful. The day of our wedding they were able to do their creative video capturing without too much direction (not a good or bad thing, just an observation). When they needed to get certain shots, they would communicate what they wanted us to do. It took about 6 months to get our finished product, but it was well worth the wait. When we booked our package, it also came with the raw footage so long gas we provided a hard drive. I was fairly impressed by how well our highlight film was put together. I also loved that they also have us the entire ceremony and reception speech footage stabilized. Even the packaging really made a statement on presentation. Their personalized handwritten notes really showed how much effort and love they put into their work. The only reason I can't give them five stars is because there were things I wish could have been improved: - I (bride) wasn't acknowledged when I sent payments and correspondence, but the groom was addressed in emails (payments were from my and my address and follow up emails were signed with my name). I think this changed halfway through the correspondences. - We had our meeting a month prior to our big day to go over the final details and timeline and Forestry agreed that everything looked great. My husband received a call the night before our wedding because they wanted to change our timeline. That could have been discussed a week or two before. - We were asked to complete a questionnaire with things we were looking forward to and things we wanted to be captured for our big day. After reviewing the raw footage, we didn't get footage of our live performers that we requested (or at least audio footage). - We had a problem with our first hard drive purchased for the raw footage. If they had suggested the hard drive they recommended and to have it sent directly to their studio beforehand, it also would have saved time, effort and money. Thanks, David & Harmony! read more

I cannot recommend commissioning David + Harmony from Forestry Films to capture and create your wedding film highly enough! In a sea of generic wedding videos and wedding videographers, Forestry Films really stood out. They create such authentic films that really capture the nature of what your wedding day looked like. Not only what it looked like, but what it FELT like. That's a huge talent to possess. My wife and I had stumbled across their work on Instagram before we were even engaged, but knew we wanted to have them out for our eventual wedding. Thankfully, when the time came they were available! I can tell David + Harmony really pushed themselves and spent a lot of time on our film, it was so complex and well thought out, weaving beautifully throughout our day. It made my wife cry within 15 seconds and by the end we wanted to cheer and clap because it was so exciting. We received our film within 2 months of our wedding (their stated wait was 4-6 months), so it was an amazing surprise! They were thoughtful and kind throughout the process, even sending us an awesome little gift after we signed and hand lettering the final package for us. Forestry films was one of the main reasons my wedding was a dream. We had a small ceremony with 6 people including the minster so I had to choose who was around me carefully. Harmony was such a calming presence. She is so relaxed and easy going, it was awesome getting ready with her. David is the most talented videographer you will ever meet in person, and is legitimately kind hearted. His skill of making something pretty amazingly extraordinary can't be matched. They were out of my price limit along with most videographers but They Were Worth Every Penny!!! They truly care about your love story and love being at weddings and that's important. You don't just want someone talented you want someone that is happy doing what they do. That's David and Harmony. They spent lots of time on the phone, through email, and video chatting up until the wedding day. They go the extra step with sending us a little gift before the wedding and a card afterwards! My husband and I got married a year ago and at first hesitated to get a film because of the money. In the end we decided it was something we wanted to make a priority and...holy crap, it was worth every penny. It was one of the best decisions we made when planning the wedding, to hire forestry films. Their work is so much more than just a wedding video, it's a treasured piece of art that captured our day and relationship so beautiful. I would recommend them 100 percent to every person getting married, and I have. When my husband and I saw the film for the first time we cried, and then again in the 30th and 40th time. And I was really shocked how many people watched it and also fell in love with it. It's easy to love your own wedding but speaks volumes when strangers approach you to tell you how beautiful the film was made, which happened a number of times. Looking forward to my wedding, I wanted SO badly to find someone who'd be able to capture our wedding in a beautiful, real, classic and sustainable way for the decades to come. Sounds simple enough right? Turns out it wasn't. The process of finding a videographer is hard because your wedding is very unique to you/your spouse but David & Harmony will really get to know you and convey your story through a beautiful medium. I actually came across FF while browsing some Bethel Music videos on YouTube, fell in love, thought "what if they're located close by," and of course, they were! They travel for weddings too so no problem if you don't live in CA haha. David & Harmony are not only special in their videography skills but in their love for each other, which naturally flows over to their clients. They work flawlessly as a team (which I'm sure isn't always easy haha). Brides, I know you don't need more headaches than you already do. David & Harmony are pros so leave it up to them, be yourself (don't worry, they'll capture you beautifully through all the ugly crying) and feel at ease (before, during & after your wedding). Good vendors are EVERYTHING! Even on the day of, their presence was so calming. It really re-centered us back on God, reminded us of the importance of the day and helped us FULLY enjoy our wedding. Technically, nothing is a "must" for your wedding but your wedding goes by in the blink of an eye and having FF film our wedding was totally a "must". If you're on the fence (I know it's not a small investment!), really think about what David & Harmony can create for you and consider bringing them onto your team. We also got the add-on recordings of our ceremony and speeches. It's optional but looking back on it, it was really important for us. The short video does an amazing job capturing the feel of your entire wedding but the additional recordings are beautifully but simply edited to deliver the wedding to you in all of its raw beauty. Watching you and your spouse share your vows is a gift that'll really remind and root you in the promises made on your wedding day. Forestry Films was some of the best money we spent on our wedding. We had originally decided against getting a videographer but a few months before the wedding we changed our mind. I'm a photographer so having the right photo/video team was important for me. I researched a lot of companies and one day came across Forestry Films. I instantly fell in love with their videos and the way that they told each couple's story. Their videos were more than the typical wedding video. They really told a story and we knew we had found the right people to tell our story. From the very beginning, David and Harmony were incredibly warm, inviting and professional. I knew that they would take great care in telling our story and making our video personal for us. The price was at the top of our price range as far as videographers so that was a little concerning at first. Considering that this was an investment and we wanted a quality piece of work we knew we were going to spend a little bit of money. What it came down to is that they gave the best package for the price compared to everyone I had researched. They were the style we wanted and having a great film is really priceless. Having Forestry Films tell the story of our day was some of the best money we spent at our wedding and we would do it all over again if we could. Was looking for a videographer for an outdoor wedding that was going to be in the woods in Wrightwood. I thought Forestry Films sounded perfect, until I got the email back saying they wouldn't work with us because we are a same-sex couple. I hope other LGBT couples read this review, and our straight allies as well and skip this place. FYI Forestry Films you passed on providing a service for an active duty military member. I contacted Forestry Films in September 2014 and was invited to have a phone call with David so that he could get more information about my vision for our wedding day. After opening my heart for 10 minutes about the proposal and my relationship, David told me that his company doesn't provide a service for same-sex weddings. The wind was truly taken from my sails and on reflection, I felt that I had been set up (the name of my fiancé - now husband - is Alex and I guess David needed clarification as to whether Alex was short for Alexander or Alexandra, and therefore, whether he would provide me with a quote). I resisted writing a bad review on Yelp at the time and decided to e-mail David and Harmony instead, to express my shock, sadness and disappointment. I ended my e-mail with this: "All I ask of you is that you consider finding a way to inform prospective clients of you views earlier in the process, to avoid the emotional pain and sense of rejection that I felt at the end of our call". David's response: "We will definitely take what you said into consideration and try to figure out ways to implement what you mentioned with our future clients". It's been almost a year, and I guess they're still trying to figure it out. Thankfully, Yelp allows Genevieve, Cassandra, Janelle, Christina and I to do that on their behalf. I am writing this review as someone who was looking for a videographer for my wedding this upcoming August. I looked at some of their great looking samples and sent a request for if they had my date available. Nowhere on the website does it mention they are a Christian faith based company, but I got a response back that they were unwilling to take Cassandra and my wedding video as we are a same sex couple. Similiar to many couples getting married, we were on the fence about hiring a videographer for our wedding day. It is a signifcant expense and of course you want to be sure that your story is captured in a way you can really connect with. We originally found a company that we loved, but ultimately could not book due to a conflict with dates. They referred us to Forestry Films and looking back, we are so glad they did. David and Harmony really made an effort to get to know us as a couple from the moment we considered working with them. i began searching for a videographer after my wedding coordinator strongly suggested I get one as the day flies by so quickly. i must have seen 20-30 video reels from various videograhers but no one stood out to me more than forrestry films, who created wonderfully emotional raw videos. i would have hired forrestry but i didn't need nine hours of footage for my small wedding and (minus one star) there was very little , if any, flexibility in the packages. understandably so though because, as harmony nicely explained, the whole day would be reserved for you whether it be 1 hour or 9 hours. harmony was very nice, prompt, and sweet throughout the whole process. read more

David and Harmony, a wedded couple themselves, really know the ins and out of creating a perfect story of someone's relationship. After a recommendation from our photographer, who had worked with David and Harmony in the past, we checked out their amazing website and viewed some of their previous work. It was stunning seeing the level of detail they went into, and how much they are able to get out of just a 10 minute feature film, or even the 3-5 minute highlight film. We contacted them immediately, and they were very flexible in setting up meetings with us. My wife and I were long distance during the wedding planning process, but David and Harmony were open to web cam meetings. It was during these meetings where they didn't just want to know the details about our wedding, but also the specific parts of our relationship that make it special and unique. They weren't just concerned with the wedding day, but how my wife and I became the couple we are. On the day of the wedding, they showed up with what seemed like a packed up wagon of equipment - cameras, stands, and other videographer equipment I couldn't even begin to name. But they used it all flawlessly - capturing the small details of me and my wife getting ready with our wedding party, making sure they got the right angles and perfect shots (even if it meant doing it more than once ;p) I was really impressed by the way David and Harmony worked so flawlessly with each other - playing off each other almost silently, knowing where to go and which cameras to use.
