    Ohio Basement Authority

My family just moved into our new house in Grandview Heights and were getting some work done in the…read morebasement (new paint, new flooring, etc.). The painters noticed some mold and water damage near a few of the walls. I called Ohio Basement Authority and Jordan came out the next day. Having a finished basement makes figuring out if there is water coming in tough, but he walked me through the possibilities, and how we could remedy each one. Not being used to having a basement (I historically lived in *much* drier climates!), I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that he showed in walking me through the different situations. I decided to go with the interior waterproofing. I was scheduled to have my new flooring installed a day later, so the speediness that Jordan came out literally saved me thousands of dollars (and the time of having another floor installed!). Thanks OBA!

My experience with Ohio Basement Authority has been almost entirely negative. The service could be…read moredescribed as unprofessional for reasons I will outline below. - Jesse, who worked on my basement, showed up late with his crew and left the work unfinished the night of a massive storm. I stayed up half of the night draining the basement with a continuous pump I connected to a hose running to the upstairs shower. - The following day after the job was "finished," I found that the PVC going from my sump pit to yard was overfilling. Water would geyser out of the ice guard by the base of my house upon every pump activation and soak the yard. At the other end of the yard the drain pit was bone dry due to improper installation/obstruction. The crew had evidently not checked if it worked before leaving the job site. - I contacted them, they returned, didn't resolve the PVC issue, and instead replaced my waterguard with this poorly fitted downspout shown in the photos section. After this repair, I noticed the soil would flood with water, indicating a crack or area that wasn't glued. This downspout also sprayed out water every single pump cycle to the foundation of my home. - I called that night and Jesse began to ghost me. I then reached out to the main office multiple times, emailed and called the supervisor (no response), and ultimately got a response from a new lead that wanted to respond to the repair requests. - This lead and some of his workers appeared on two separate visits. Initially this seemed promising as the downspout was replaced proper, but then next rainfall I saw the same indications of cracked PVC leaking into my soil. The newly installed drywell and drain pit aren't dry this time, but now they do not drain properly. They overflow every time we get moderate rain. - My next repair is scheduled for 3 weeks from now. That's 3 weeks of sump water getting sent straight to my foundation. For a job that was estimated as 1 day we are now looking at 6 total days of labor and 4 separate visits for repair requests. The product has not functioned since day 1 and has cost me far too much for the quality of service provided. The original crew failed to perform a proper installation and now I am reliant on repair crews that are bouncing between other jobs. Evidently this home is a low priority for them at this point. This review will remain available until the issues on the job are completely resolved.
