We tried to be patient with them and paid them in advance, and some of this money was not used for our project, but used on another project. We tried to be understanding of the situation within the company but the owner was terrible about communicating with us. We finally got what we contracted to have done finished before Thanksgiving with the promise, after we paid him, he would be back in the spring to help us with our sprinkler system, and replace any plants that died. We have been calling since March to schedule a time for him to come out, but he never returns our calls or texts. We hired another company to help us with our sprinkler system this spring as well as finish setting up the water feature. We also contracted someone else to finish planting the back yard and replace all the plants that have died in the front. The quality of the work is satisfactory but we now know from other landscapers in our area that we paid a premium for the work.

They were supposed to winterize the drip system and told me they had done it. Come spring the backflow had to be replaced because they never winterized it. Then it was rebuilt by Anthony. The backflow was never tightened up and leaked everywhere when it was turned on. They came back and fixed the backflow but never turned the water back on. So the whole season nothing was getting water. Every time I asked if everything was working and getting water I was told yes. So when I finally took it upon myself to check for myself, I discovered they never turned the water back on after fixing the backflow for the second time. So the whole spring and summer they lied to me about the plants getting water. So I'm working up a case with the Registrar of Contractors office.

In March 2024, I handed my landscape architect's plans to José Robles, to bid. He presented me with a quote of $80,000, promising that the job would be completed in eight weeks. With enthusiasm and trust, I signed the contract and paid a 50% deposit, and told by Jose he had to have 60% down to purchase all materials immediately, even though the job wouldn't begin for another 14 days. I believed I was making a sound investment in my vision and I felt good about giving project to Patriot/Jose, a family that served in the USA military, as Jose told me his adoption story and all about his foster father who served our country. As the eight-week mark came and went, my excitement turned to anxiety. The job was far from complete, and my concerns grew louder. When I confronted José about the deposit, he admitted to using my hard-earned money on other projects, promising to do his best to get my job finished as soon as possible. His words were hollow as months dragged on with minimal progress and countless broken promises. In my quest for answers, I reached out to vendors who carried similar products I had chosen, only to discover that Patriot Landscaping was not to be trusted. Desperate to move the project forward, I took matters into my own hands and purchased the materials myself. However, I was forced to make major compromises, settling for what was available locally instead of the carefully selected items I had chosen and José had assured me that my preferred materials were on order, but as I discovered it turned out to be a lie; none of the suppliers would accept his order. Despite deducting the cost of these materials from the remaining balance, the job remained unfinished. Frustrated and heartbroken, I ultimately took Patriot Landscaping to small claims court and won a judgment for over $15,000, plus 6% interest. Yet, even after this victory, they have made no genuine effort to communicate or settle the payment. In summary, I urge anyone considering the services of José Robles and Patriot Landscaping to tread carefully. My experience has been riddled with distress, financial loss, and the emotional turmoil of wanting to be a good client while facing continued letdowns while watching him drive up in his brand new Tesla, new truck and new trailer that he purchased during this time.
