First we went about 30 minutes out to one of his spots and caught 12 Sheephead all of sizable quality within 30 minutes (we threw back 4-5 smaller ones) and then we went inshore for Spanish mackerel and caught 5 in about 30 minutes then we went for some trout, no luck so we moved on quickly to look for Redfish, we caught a few up in the beautiful river but it was slow so we went to try for some more Spanish. What a trip. So many experiences and he was really knowledgeable. I fish all over and he's one of the most knowledgeable Captains that I've met. We loved our fishing trip with Charlene so much that we booked her again later in the week. My…read morefamily was in town for vacation and I'd done some research on fishing and Charlene popped up. We chose to book with her and we were impressed! Our first trip was a Sunday morning, bright and early. We met Charlene at the Port St. Joe public boat ramp at 7 am and away we went. A quick boat ride and we started fishing. We caught at least 40 fish but only 3 of them were keepers. Flounder and Trout were the keepers but we caught several more kinds. Even if we had to let a lot go because of size (too small or too large), we still had plenty to keep and a ton of fun. My husband had a fun battle with a 33 inch Redfish. The trip was 4 hours and we fished in three different locations. As the week went on, we wanted to head out again so we gave Charlene a call and hit the water that Friday. That time we caught 5 keepers including Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, and Trout. Again, lots that were too small but it's a lot of fun to catch and release as well! They know the fishing in this area and will put you on the fish red Snapper, King Mackeral, Spanish Mackeral, Triggerfish, Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper, Vermillion Snapper. grouper and amberjack are ALL ABUNDANT both inshore and offshore in this area. If you want to keep and eat your fish be sure you check the season as The government has gone way overbaord on season and limits you practically have to have a lawyer with internet access on board to keep up with changes. That said Captain Chip knows the seasons and limits so if thats a concern call ahead. The pricing is very reasonable from 4 hrs to 2 day charters. I recommend 6 to 12 hrs for bottom fish (grouper, snapper, Amberjack) that gives you time to get to the fishing grounds and have plenty of time to limit out
