From the moment we arrived, we were shown nothing but kindness and hospitality from the operators Tara and Mike. The welcoming environment of this place extends into every nook and cranny. Guests can access free microwave popcorn, sodas, ice, and coffee, and can access the main lodge at anytime and sit on the couches or read in the library area. There is wifi accessible and our room came with a tv that included access to a variety of apps, including Netflix. We were fortunate enough to bunk in a family suite and it is perfectly suited for a group of people that are looking for a home-away-from-home feel. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and open-concept kitchen and living area, it really felt like we had our own apartment here. The kitchen and bathrooms are thoughtfully stocked with travel-sized toiletries and condiments, and there are plenty of dishes and cookware to utilize. There would be no need to worry about cooking in the morning, however, because breakfast is prepared and delicious! Every morning was plenty to fill me up for hours, and the variety and quality of food was really exceptional. It is served at a communal table, so everyone at the lodge eats together. This turned out to be the most pleasant surprise, as we began establishing friendships and connections with other people. Between the friendly staff, the beautiful location, and the impressive breakfast, Hisega Lodge went far and above my expectations. I intend to recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in the Rapid City area.

They never warned us…read moreahead of time about this unreasonable charge even though we'd indicated we were bringing dogs on the reservation. It went from bad to worse once we got to our room. I don't understand how they have any good reviews. Plus, how can a place supposedly new be so gross? The bathtub was filthy (see photo) which is impressive since the shower also seemed to not work without a wrench--so how did it accumulate so much soap scum and pubic hair? The lock on our door was completely broken. (See photo) There are chunks missing from the mildewed wall. (Again, see photos) The lady working the front desk was worthless. The drivers are awesome and informative. Front desk staff were amazing. Our room is big and very clean. When we finally met the housekeepers, they assisted us with our supply needs. Ample parking for everyone. There's a restaurant at the lobby. Elevators were fast. About 20 minutes away from Mt. Rushmore. We highly recommend this locations. Also, was impressed with General then President Eisenhower's private WW II plane was customized for his military surveillance throughout. Would have liked a walking audio tour and the aircraft maintained and painted to original era but considering the FREE price of admission (FREE-but subsidized by our tax dollars!), one cannot complain.
