We love the "exposed" pattern and are excited to wear it in South Texas! We got a women's vest and half zip men's top.

When I asked her about tips for hiking at Glacier she recommended layers. And since it was a day following rain she recommended a bag for the muddy shoes. She was spot on re: how muddy we would be today. Thank you Stacia for a great encounter!!

Those that don't usually have a sign that say no animals. This store does not have any such sign and I decided to bring my dog in with me just to look around. He's very well behaved and was on a leash. The lady at the front counter did give me a greeting as I came in but said nothing about my dog or any no pet policy. After I passed her and was no more than 15 feet into the store, I heard her ask her coworker, quit loudly enough so that I could hear, " What happened to our no pet signs that used to be out front?" Why be so caddy to make comments behind my back instead of just telling me I'd sorry we don't allow dogs in the store? I would have gladly returned my dog to my truck and come back in for my purchases, instead I just took my dog and we left.

Views views views!…read more Great change of pace after days of hiking. I rented a 1 seater kayak from glacier outfitters. It may look like a far walk but it isn't! Totally doable. The staff was very nice to explain everything to me. They showed me the lake map and where to go and not go, etc. Instructions were very clear. I rented 2 hours (they have you 15 mins for the round trip walk). The walk from the rental to the lake I thought was a bit of a walk but it was not bad to haul the kayak there, they are on wheels so it is not bad. You leave the wheels near the trees. Returning the kayak was fairly easy as well. There are lockers available that you can put your stuff if you don't want to take it with you. The minimum number of hours is 2 hours and it was 40 something. Overall it was a good experience! Everything was great. Would recommend and use service again.

We made reservations at Glacier Outfitters for kayaks for the day. (highly recommend reservations)…read more There is a small parking lot and some street parking but it was not a busy day and it was full. We had people waiting for our parking spot when we returned to the car. I'm not sure where people would park when it gets very busy. Perhaps there is another parking lot I didn't see. When you walk up to G.O. you sign waivers, pay the fee and are gathered in an area for instructions. The man who provided the instructions was very informative. Advised us of areas in Flathead Lake to avoid including a rough water area and a few bald eagle's nests as they recently laid eggs. After instructions, you are provided with the kayak, paddle, life jacket and a cart to roll the kayak down to the lake. Now, I'm pretty strong but the kayaks are heavy. I did think to myself, how would someone with less strength get this kayak down to the lake? Something to ask about if you are renting as it is several yards to walk with a heavy kayak. The carts were easy to remove and stash while we spent the day in the lake. When you finish kayaking, you simply load the kayak back on the cart and roll it back to G.O., drop off gear and you are done. We had a great experience with Glacier Outfitters and would use them again.

My first rental with them I lost a binding during one of my first two runs getting on a lift and hobbled over to them sheepishly as if I had done something wrong and was ready to get dinged or reprimanded, but they fixed it in an instant without hesitation or lecture and sent me back on my way. My second rental with them I returned the rental a half hour after they closed (100000% my bad) but since they were still at the shop finishing up, they allowed me to sneak in the board and boots. They could have been pricks about it, but weren't, so am thankful for that, as I was departing Whitefish the next day so would have had to work some magic to get the stuff back to them. They will also hold your shoes for you when doing a one-day rental (an important detail to remember when taking into account when they close!).

The only reason I rented from Stumptown was for this piece of equipment. I was assured on the phone that as long as I had a reservation I would get what I ordered and that it would only be an issue if we were to walk in with no reservation. Upon arrival the board/binding combo was unavailable. Do not expect to get what you request.

Had all the equipment we needed to stay warm on a chilly day with scattered showers. Taught us everything we needed to know to navigate the waters safely. Arranging our private group trip was easy and convenient. The guides are deeply knowledgeable and competent, and put together both great accommodations (camping setup in a local KOA campground, prepping all our food) and amazing hikes. We had an exciting but challenging grizzly bear encounter that the hiking guide handled expertly - we had complete confidence in him, for good reason. If you're planning any kind of guided hiking adventure, you really want to choose this company - although others operate in the park, this is the company that the others are required by Glacier to work with, so it makes sense to go directly with them.
