Views views views! Great change of pace after days of hiking. I rented a 1 seater kayak from glacier outfitters. It may look like a far walk but it isn't! Totally doable. The staff was very nice to explain everything to me. They showed me the lake map and where to go and not go, etc. Instructions were very clear. I rented 2 hours (they have you 15 mins for the round trip walk). The walk from the rental to the lake I thought was a bit of a walk but it was not bad to haul the kayak there, they are on wheels so it is not bad. You leave the wheels near the trees. Returning the kayak was fairly easy as well. There are lockers available that you can put your stuff if you don't want to take it with you. The minimum number of hours is 2 hours and it was 40 something. Overall it was a good experience! Everything was great. Would recommend and use service again. read more

We made reservations at Glacier Outfitters for kayaks for the day. (highly recommend reservations) There is a small parking lot and some street parking but it was not a busy day and it was full. We had people waiting for our parking spot when we returned to the car. I'm not sure where people would park when it gets very busy. Perhaps there is another parking lot I didn't see. When you walk up to G.O. you sign waivers, pay the fee and are gathered in an area for instructions. The man who provided the instructions was very informative. Advised us of areas in Flathead Lake to avoid including a rough water area and a few bald eagle's nests as they recently laid eggs. After instructions, you are provided with the kayak, paddle, life jacket and a cart to roll the kayak down to the lake. Now, I'm pretty strong but the kayaks are heavy. I did think to myself, how would someone with less strength get this kayak down to the lake? Something to ask about if you are renting as it is several yards to walk with a heavy kayak. The carts were easy to remove and stash while we spent the day in the lake. When you finish kayaking, you simply load the kayak back on the cart and roll it back to G.O., drop off gear and you are done. We had a great experience with Glacier Outfitters and would use them again. read more

The hail to the lake wasn't bad since we had wheels - and a lovely paddle in the sun andnshortly thereafter in the pouring rain! Gotta' love this weather. We reserved kayaks from GO, but the weather was bad on that day. The guys and gal at GO were super friendly, understanding and accommodating. We went about our day until the weather cleared a bit and returned to GO later in the day. They made sure the wind and water conditions were safe before agreeing to rent the kayaks to us. They had offered to refund us if it wasn't safe to go out. If you're beginners like us, we felt much more confident after the quick safety briefing. In the end, we had an absolute blast!! Rented E-Bikes to ride Going to the Sun Road from Avalanche to as far as the road allowed us (Weeping Wall) in late May. If you don't have a hitch for the e-bikes they do have bike carriers that strap to your vehicle (only two e-bikes can fit on these carriers). If you have a hitch they have racks that can carry up to five e-bikes. Process to rent was easy, total for 4 e-bikes and a carrier for seven hours was $599.00. Had to be turned back in by 7pm. Be aware of any construction on Going to the Sun Road along lake McDonald which will drastically impact your commute time back to Apgar Village from Avalanche. They have plenty of other gear and outdoor activity equipment to rent. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

We rented kayaks from here to take to Lake Macdonald and had a great experience. First off, rent the kayaks for sure!!! It is honestly a must do in my opinion and was a pretty surreal experience for us who had never visited the park before. Definitely make reservations. As of July 2020, they do reservations for 9:30 am and then first come first serve for the rest of the day. The reservations make it easier so you don't have to wait and earlier is better because the water gets choppy in the afternoon. The kayaks are also super reasonably priced which was a great surprise. They even make it easy to bring the kayaks to the lake by putting them on wheels that are super easy to get on and off. On top of all that, everyone working for glacier outfitters was very friendly and able to help us get what we needed. If I'm ever in Glacier again I will absolutely be renting more kayaks from here. read more

Best suggestion EVER! The pedal assist helped me and 3 teens experience the most beautiful scenery ever... She gave great suggestions on rides if the road was not open, and we even booked a kayak trip during our stay. Easy parking, quick pick up, very professional. We rented the 2-person car camping bundle for 3 nights. Everything was great. Some minor things, the can opener was wonky (which may not seem like a big deal until you're 20 miles from civilization and your dinner depends on opening cans), and the stove went through 3 cans of propane in 3 days for a normal amount of cooking. Other than that, everything else was good quality. We especially appreciated the orientation for bear spray rental (we both thought that you put the spray on your own body before). Shout out to Erin for the great service and her amazing ability to multi-task while a million people interrupted her asking questions while providing us service. At first we were a bit frustrated because I had requested a medium sized bike but was provided a large. I am an experienced rider and know what size frame I need and had concerns that I'd wind up being very uncomfortable. Erin reassured me that the bike would fit me well. She was correct and I had no issues. Both my spouse and I were thankful for the quality of the bikes at Glacier Outfitters. It was pouring rain and a bit of hail on our ride up and down Going to the Sun Road. Having the disc brakes were a life saver especially while descending Logan Pass. We rented e-bikes for the day from Glacier Outfitters to ride Going to the Sun Road. At the end of the day, as we returned the bikes/rack, we noticed that the bike rack Glacier Outfitters had installed had dented our rental car fairly significantly. The employee for Glacier Outfitters acknowledged that the rack had dented the car, that this had happened before, and said that Glacier Outfitters would "probably help with damages". We sent a respectful follow-up email the next day, and were met with a brief, overly-formal response that basically said "You signed a waiver; not our problem." So I guess the cost of renting two e-bikes and a rack for 12 hours is more accurately described as "$325, plus potentially over a thousand in damages." There are other bike rentals in the area, and I highly recommend checking them out before being treated like this. read more

Glacier Outfitters is such a gem. I rented camping equipment (ALL the equipment) from them, and all of the staff I interacted with were extremely kind, patient, warm and knowledgeable. The website isn't the easiest to navigate for orders, so skip that and just call to place your order. I did, and the woman that helped me was super patient with my questions and giving me advice (I should have taken her advice for a slightly larger tent for comfort..). When we finally reached Glacier a few hours late due to a delayed train, we found our whole order prepped and ready to go. The staff showed us how to use our jetboil and bear spray, but most importantly, they went above and beyond to point us to the nearest camp that appeared to have an available campsite, and we managed to nab the last one thanks to them. Seriously, I think this may have been the last available campsite we could have gotten that day. Would highly, highly recommend renting equipment from here - great service, and the equipment was all high quality. read more

They were so patient with us as we were really scared and anxious about the uphill condition towards Logan's Pass. In the end, it was a great bike ride and we weren't intimidated at all! I wish I could remember everyone's name, but I rented s kayak on Thursday late morning and the staff was great, very helpful. Took the two hour time and it was perfect. Just throw the kayak on wheels they provide and roll a block to the lake. Make sure the wheel lock they give you is working, I didn't check mine and at the lake discovered someone had cut the wire previously. OK I just tucked it in the bushes . Lake was glass and paddled out to fish creek camp area and back. Saw some water birds. You could see to the bottoms of water along the shore, beautiful aqua and green hues. If I had more time I would have rented a bike and hit the bike paths nearby. They also offer zip line e and rafting tours. read more

Had a sweatshirt around my face standing outside the mask required area and was told not to enter mask required area. Had no problem with this but just asked what the difference was between that and a mask. Long black haired fella then went on a ridiculous rant shaming us in front of the entire line after a simple question. He then found out we were local and told us "if I knew that you all lived here I wouldn't have copped such an attitude with you."
