I can tell you now that it's not the same. I dropped her off Monday morning at 8:45 to a playground with 100 kids. I didn't get to meet her camp counselor, and I was not able to enter the school due to Covid. I was okay with that, and nervous at the same time but again, I had attended there as a kid for several summers and my daughter has been in school since she was 2yo. She is friendly and delightful child so I thought I was making the right decision. By 9:30 am I was getting a call while at work. The director called me and told me that my daughter was having a rough morning, and trying to adjust. We picked her up early. The next day I called around 1pm and they said "they hadn't heard anything, so she must be fine." Thursday morning we dropped her off at 8:45, before my husband could make it to work, we were receiving a call saying that she was crying, and we need to pick her up right away and that this would HAVE to be her last day. The director told me that she didn't have the staff or the time to accommodate my child. They had 3 teachers to several 3 & 4 year olds. As a mother I was distraught. I couldn't believe that they had through my thrown my 4 yo out of summer camp. I wrote this to say that I am very disappointed in what this school has become. Also, I feel as if they didn't have the staff, why would they take on more than they could handle? So if your child needs special accommodations, or more attention than the average child. This is not the school because they clearly don't have the time. If I could have given zero stars I would have. I sent my daughter here with the intentions of her attending the school for kindergarten, but that won't happen. They made my child feel little, and they made me feel horrible as a parent.

They would hold students back for a wide variety of silly reasons such as them having below average handwriting and being slightly younger than other students, and if they had a slight speach impediment, even if they excel in all other areas.

We wanted them to learn, of course, but we also wanted to make sure they were welcomed and recognized for their own unique personalities and interests. My wife and I believe a great school must know and understand each child as an individual, while also having the resources, programs, and experts required to challenge and inspire our children. Community School has exceeded our expectations. The teachers do a wonderful job of working in small groups with the kids so that they truly understand each child's strengths and challenges. They "get" each one of our kids. But it goes beyond that as well. They encourage the students to find something that they feel passionate about and then push them to pursue that interest. My oldest son is proud that the school trusts him to choose his own projects in woodshop or sign a contract for independent work in math. For my daughter, Community will always be the place that encouraged her to be comfortable on a stage in front of an audience. Community is a special place. My children head out the door excited for school every single day. They love it even more than we do.

First, the teachers are all so caring and get to know your child more than any other school we've experienced. Second, the Individualized Learning that is promoted throughout the school really allows your child to flourish according to their strengths. For example, if your child is good at math, they can accelerate and not be held back like most settings. Every child is ensured of meeting grade standards, however. It really feels like children are learning differently these days, and St. John is at the forefront of an innovative approach. Lastly, a Christian education is important to us, and St. John embodies a Christian learning experience that we desire. My kids love going there and we can't imagine a better environment for them.

During COVID we were removed from the chaos and drama, because DaySpring students are used to self-direction and independent work. Isn't that the point of education?
