He is 4, has a very hard time sitting still, is very playful & is easily distracted (but he really does want to do well.) All the master instructors & assistants are patient, lead by example & go above & beyond for my son. Master Jin however, is my son's favorite & has truly made an impression on us! He engages with him, motivates & influences him to focus & succeed by acknowledging his needs & helps him build confidence in the best way possible! He is a great leader! It's a very empowering, nurturing and playful environment for the kids. I know as I tried 14 gyms (yes, there are 14…read morenot all kukiwon though) I could write pages about how bad most gyms in katy are, and how they have unqualified teachers with low degrees teaching for low pay, as it's just a business to those gyms, but I want to focus on how amazing Black Dragon is Master Seong is an amazing instructor and is an 8th degree black belt. He teaches all the classes and it is easy to see he lives taekwondo. It does not seem like a business to him, but his life. This gym is not easy. It should not be if you want to get better at martial arts. He will not just pass students to other belts until they are actually ready, unlike many gyms. Students are well behaved as he pays a lot of attention to his students and teaching. The gym is clean, staff are all friendly, and they have many classes at different times, to fit busy schedules. My kids were both already black belts and we all had 5 years taekwondo experience before we had to move to katy. We were sad to have to leave the gym we loved, but very happy to have a new martial arts family at Black Dragon where I can see improvement every day still..
