There's a lot of martial arts academies to choose in the area and my main reason for picking FBTKD really was simply schedule - back to back classes for both boys with an option each day Monday to Friday from which you pick 2-3 that suit you. It is further from our home and not one that anyone we know goes to. Fast forward a few months, we have been nothing but impressed. Mrs. Chapman not only knows my kids' names, she knows them, their personalities and quirks, and responds to what they need for their belt requirements effectively in class, while also doing the same for a room-full of kids. Last night, we had the first award ceremony for the belt promotion - each child was acknowledged individually, even if they weren't able to attend and each got a framed certificate (not just a piece of card stock that can get crumpled in the car ... it was in a frame). There are also other regular events the kids can attend, such as parents night out. The last one was video-game related - Mrs. Chapman's two assistants, Ms. Aneva and Mr. Nicholas put together a fun program that took kids energetically inside video games. It was obvious a lot of thought and effort had gone into the planning. Both boys had a blast! A great opportunity for fellow students to become friends. I am so looking forward to seeing my kids grow up through the ranks at FBTKD.

They are fascinated with his "Ted talks" ( you have to come to listen to them). Professor Ted understands the importance of "Basics". He's not about fancy, gimmicky approaches and methods. There are some dojos that flaunt their rapid belt promotions. However, Professor Ted knows that jiu-jitsu is more than just belts and stripes My sons have learned valuable fighting and defense skills. I am so glad that I have found this place!…read more I was on the search for a trustworthy, reliable martial arts school for my 6 year old son. After going through countless phone calls and online searches, I found Meng's Martial Arts. Facility is clean, spacious and well maintained. Plenty of room for students to exercise and learn. Diverse class and Sifu Ryan usually has an extra set of helpers/assistants to assist the students. The staff is very attentive and gives a lot of emotional and physical support. The Tiny Tiger program (ages 4-7 I think) meet 3 times a week, for 45 minutes which I believe is great in addition to their reasonable prices! The class is more than just being physical and learning self defense. My son has learned to be more respectful and disciplined, to have more self control and awareness. His attitude has changed so much, and he's made new friends! Parents are more than welcome to lounge around in the lobby, or sit on the sidelines and observe the class. If you're looking for a martial arts class for your child (or yourself) this place is it! They're very open to new students, and have no issues answering any questions or concerns. My google search led me to Performance Pilates and the reviews are true, this was a great experience! Everyone was so kind and welcoming when I arrived, and you can tell that the instructors are knowledgeable. Things were a little different than I am used to with teaching fascially, but it was a nice change and I liked how different the moves felt on my body. Cody was patient and provided modifications where needed so all of the class felt included and able to participate. Fun bonus - all the instructors were dressed up and the studio was decorated for Halloween! Will definitely return when I am back visiting the area!
