Three days later he had provided the cremation service, arranged two pastors, a Naval flag presentation, a salute by the local Legion, newspaper notices and an online obituary, helped get us a wheelchair, and we were sitting in the church surrounded by caring friends and family. Dozens of other detailed requests were handled with grace and efficiency. Being a local funeral director who knows all the groups and people in our area, unlike the national chains, he could also speed along contact with all the people we needed to involve. Meanwhile, Sam was relaxed, friendly, compassionate, completely transparent about services and costs, (which were very fair), and he brought no pressure to any of our decisions (unlike other funeral directors we have experienced). On October 20th, 2024 my husband and I had to make the hardest decision of our lives to put down…read moreour baby girl, Ivy. She was very sick and could not recover. We brought her to Urgent care vet in auburn and they were amazing, she then went to Pettigrass for private cremation and we just picked her up. Mr. Pettigrass was so kind, gave us hugs and talked to us for a while. He was the perfect person to respectfully care for our baby and help us in our time of sorrow. Thank you for the thoughts and meticulous care you took to memorialize our baby. His pet cremation services are much needed in our community. Also, it didn't cost us an arm and a leg to be able to honor our baby.

You expect that a funeral home will gently walk you through the process…read moreof dealing with the death of a loved one. I can't review this without anyone that reads it thinking we are crazy. They discouraged a meeting saying it was a prepaid funeral and my mother had almost everything decided. I gladly agreed to text messages vs calls however she sent hundreds of texts at any time of day. Never did we just go through a list of things that needed to be done or chosen instead it was random text messages with nothing remotely professional. They were misspelled, lacking punctuation to the point where I didn't know what half of them meant. This is a funeral home not a friend. I am also still questioning what prepaid means because it seems it's just whatever was in the cd is deducted from the final cost. I have not heard that my mother chose music even though they tried to charge for church music when they weren't going to the church. We have to transport our own flowers and there is no electronic picture option even though she acknowledged most offer it. They left out the picture of my mother in the obit because she didn't bother to open the attachment. She spoke with us with a smirk the whole time we tried to express our frustration. I just can't imagine a worse experience, let alone when you're trying to grieve in peace.
