The particular theater we were placed in was absolutely filthy. The seats were stained, dingy, and looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned in ages. I honestly couldn't relax or get comfortable because genuinely concerned about how unsanitary the seating looked. I ended up sitting upright through the entire film because I didn't want to sit back in the seat. The one positive was the concession attendant, who was pleasant and friendly. The popcorn flavor was good as well, but it clearly was not fresh or hot, which was disappointing considering the prices. I'm relatively new to the area, so I can't speak to other theaters nearby, but I personally will not return to this location. Going to the movies should feel enjoyable and comfortable, and unfortunately this experience was neither.

After we ordered our food and drinks, I gave our cashier a friendship bracelet. I handed out a few friendship bracelets to a couple of little girls that were ahead of us. One was with her mom and three girls were with their dad. They were all dressed up. We did have to wait in line for about 10 minutes before we could enter the theater. A group of girls was at the bottom of the theater exchanging friendship bracelets. It was so fun to see that. We ate our food while we waited for the previews to start. We had never been to this theater or anything like it. We don't have AMC theaters in Charleston. The recliners didn't work for 2 of our 3 seats (so minus one star for that). Overall, the theater was well maintained from what we could tell. There was a lot of room for people to walk by if they needed to get out of the row. One of the arm rests came up so it was like sitting on a couch. While watching the movie, the sound was great and the screen was clear, however there were some parts that seemed grainy where at the show we saw the day before at another theater, it was not grainy. A LOT of the Swifties were singing soooo loud and you could still hear Taylor so clearly! It was great!! No one was rude about standing in the way or anything like that. Everyone was so nice!! Overall, the staff was great and friendly, the food was delicious, the theater was clean and comfortable despite not all of seats working, and the atmosphere for Taylor was amazing! I was helped by a representative named Destiny, and unfortunately, the level of customer service I received was extremely poor. From the beginning of the interaction, her attitude came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. My family and I made a simple request for an extra popcorn container so we could share our popcorn, but instead of trying to help or responding in a friendly manner, Destiny made the situation feel like we were asking for something unreasonable. Her tone, facial expressions, and overall demeanor made us feel uncomfortable. When I asked a question, she appeared visibly annoyed, sighed, and acted as though our request was a burden. Customer service should be about making guests feel valued, not making them feel like they are causing an inconvenience. To make matters worse, she also failed to provide the candy and drink that were part of our order, which showed a lack of care and attention. What should have been a fun outing with my family was negatively affected by an interaction that could have easily been handled with basic courtesy and professionalism. I hope AMC takes this feedback seriously and works with Destiny to improve her customer service approach. Employees represent the company, and guests deserve to be treated with patience, respect, and a positive attitude.

Marshall, the manager at Riverwatch Cinemas is running his own gem. Riverwatch is a community hub where people of all kinds can find company, healthy escape, fun, life, and good old-fashioned nights out at the movies. Marshall is always on the floor, zipping around and making sure both his customers and his team are happy and running well. A little while back, during the thick of my Ph.D. dissertation deadline, I showed up at Riverwatch a couple of hours before meeting my husband for a movie. All of the decent coffee shops were already closed, but I needed somewhere to work before the movie. Marshall not only allowed me to come in early and work in the nice dining/bar area, but he also checked on me regularly, shared his love and passion for his work with me, and made a wonderful impression on me. I now understand why Riverwatch is the place to be! Movies are constantly sold out, the setting is lively and appealing, and Marshall should be credited for this. Whenever we are down and just need to cheer up or want something fun to do when loved ones visit, we get so excited to go to the movies at Riverwatch.
