My favorite job of all time was working at the Santa Monica Laemmle movie theater from age 19-21. Everything about that place, from the ambiance, the manager, the staff, the customers, the films, and the spirit made it what it was. Marshall, the manager at Riverwatch Cinemas is running his own gem. Riverwatch is a community hub where people of all kinds can find company, healthy escape, fun, life, and good old-fashioned nights out at the movies. Marshall is always on the floor, zipping around and making sure both his customers and his team are happy and running well. A little while back, during the thick of my Ph.D. dissertation deadline, I showed up at Riverwatch a couple of hours before meeting my husband for a movie. All of the decent coffee shops were already closed, but I needed somewhere to work before the movie. Marshall not only allowed me to come in early and work in the nice dining/bar area, but he also checked on me regularly, shared his love and passion for his work with me, and made a wonderful impression on me. I now understand why Riverwatch is the place to be! Movies are constantly sold out, the setting is lively and appealing, and Marshall should be credited for this. Whenever we are down and just need to cheer up or want something fun to do when loved ones visit, we get so excited to go to the movies at Riverwatch. My first experience with GTC Riverwatch cinemas was to watch the new James Gunn Superman movie. Comparing this location to your big name movie chains such as AMC or Regals, I really preferred GTC over other theaters I've been to the last couple years. GTC Riverwatch had the snacks and amenities other theaters had, plus they were spacious and clean. I was also glad their bags of popcorn were not pieces but the whole corn. Many occasions at AMC or Regal, especially at night if I ordered popcorn, it would be pieces of popcorn filling up my bag; not fun to enjoy. I'm glad GTC River keeps their popcorn inventory fresh and ensures customers don't get scraps. They have seem to have special room isolated on the right wing that offers 4D experiences where the theaters in the left wing are all regular viewing, but all their seats are reclining and clean. Ticket prices are fraction of other competitors, but they do not offer military discount. Overall a great experience. Their staff does a great job at maintaining cleanliness within the theater and restrooms. Definitely will be doing the extra drive out here than go to my local Regals or AMC! read more

I don't make it to the theater (movie-for clarification) often. But, once a year I am definitely going to be getting a ticket and finding my seat. And that would be for my birthday. And when I do make that annual trip to celebrate all things "me" I do it at Riverwatch. The amount of incline, the cup holders, the soft comfort of the seat all beckon me. For those who have been around more than 10 years, this is also one of the first places where you could purchase a ticket (and ergo choose your seat ahead of time). Aka, you didn't have to arrive a hour early and save seats while someone else went to the concession stand. This place is top notch, efficient, and tidy. The has a separate lounge area where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine or beer while waiting on show time. Depending on what movie and or time you may be in a large theater or small theater. Price range from $11 to $15 per ticket however if you use movie apps add an additional $5. Concessions are expensive across the board regardless of the theater you visit. "It is what it is". There are no big lines in the afternoon. The recliners are starting to get old and could use some updates. Drinks and popcorn have free refills. You can choose between soda or icee. The only downside to the soda selection is that they only have diet coke. It would be nice to have other diet selections. Finally, they are getting some movies worth going to. COVID almost ruined the movie industry. Previews showed some others that may be worth seeing. Popcorn was a little salty, but part of that may be the added butter. Went here to see the new Guardians of the galaxy- unfortunately the seat I was assigned was broken and unable to recline at all. It was unfortunate that they had not blocked off this seat, as I paid the same price as everyone else for a malfunctioning seat. Otherwise nice theater! read more

I am going to say it again.. bougie experience. In Atlanta, you would pay 19-24$ for an experience like this. In some areas the prices would change if it's on a weekend or after a certain time, BUT NOT THIS PLACE. Lets talk about your peach, that comfort you get when seating here. The seats are spacious and comforting. These seats can recline through a side controller. No need to exhaust your strength, just press the buttons (one controls legs and the other for your upper body). The seats WORK FOR YOU. Whatever angle or amount of stretch you want, it's yours to the precision. They do 5$ movies on Tuesdays with 2$ small popcorn like whatttttt. The value. This place is also located near lots of attractions like Costco, TopGolf, Dollar Tree, and Guitar Center. Honestly a hangout that involves watching movie followed by either of those places listed after. Maybe this could be a date. For the price this place gets a 5 star. Memorial Day weekend, my and my friends decided to go see Top Gun Maverick on opening weekend. After looking at showtimes online and see their promotion of a free Top Gun poster, we decided for Saturday 1st GTX showing. The GTX theater is from what I understand bigger screen, better sound, reclining leather seats. My only grip about the theater is that the posters were promoted online as first come, first served. We decided to purchase our tickets Wednesday night. Saturday morning rolls around and we call the theater and no answer. Online does the show the operating hours of the theater. We called several times to see what time they would open. Luckily for us we had a 1pm show time and decided to come about 30 minutes early. I can see right away when we walked in that the limited posters were running out. So to give you context, there were only one other showing in the regular theater for 12pm and we had tickets for the 1pm first showing in the GTX theater. I ran up to claim our posters, which the ticket taker said I had to print out our tickets first. After quickly running to a kiosk and printing our tickets, ran back to the ticket taker and I can see he probably had less than 8 posters left in his hand. He handed us our last few remaining posters. I wish the theater would communicate this to their patrons, because I did not think they would run out of posters on their 1st or 2nd Saturday showing. Note: posters were only given out for Saturday showing. read more

The best thing going for this place is the seating the comfort of laying back in there seating is awesome. The concession pricing is more expensive than going to the grocery stores $30 for a medium popcorn two medium drinks and a 4 oz box of candy with no refills on the popcorn is crazy. read more

The large but cheap cinema had a decent selection of movies. My cinema had reclining chairs, but mine was broken, which really was not great. It was a packed house for a movie that surprised in that respect, and it certainly seemed that the locals had determined that this was the place to be. It's easy to drive to and park at. It has been over a year and a half since we have been to a theater. So after much back and forth, we were here to see The Eternals in the deluxe movie seat theater. The staff may have masks in use but you need to keep your nose covered to make it effective. The theater definitely holds less patrons than regular theaters but they still did not use social distancing for lines or seating. For my own comfort I sanitized the seats we sat in and the general area around us, kept my mask on throughout the movie. The seats were definitely comfortable but I felt like there was no air circulation in the room. I ended up using the small fan that attached to my phone so that helped. read more

Had a truly lovely time, we opted for a Tuesday 4:15pm showtime. Theater was clean, minimal line that moved very quickly and the viewing was comfortable. Temperature in the May have been a tad warm but it is hard to get that right the first of November, temps are just all over the place from morning to night. We opted for Ticket to Paradise as our choice. No problems with the crowd everybody was quietly and respectfully enjoying themselves. So I'm still pretty new to the area. We moved down here from the New England area in January. Other than some theater in Columbia, this is the only theater we go to. We chose it because of the great reviews they've received which are well deserved. It's not far from us (about 15-20minutes), and pretty easy to get to. The staff are fine (I've gotten some people who were really nice, and some who didn't seem to care about being there.) The theater is pretty clean, and the prices are actually decent. In Massachusetts theater prices are crazy high (yikes!). My 10 year old got a kids tray, which includes a popcorn, drink and small candy. It was around $6, maybe a little less. But that was perfect for him. The only thing he needed to refill was his drink. Which made him super excited since he got a small slushie drink with his snacks. He ended up wanting a soda when he refilled it, haha. But we were told all drinks are refillable, which is extremely convenient. read more

Love Riverwatch Cinemas -- this is my go-to movie theatre in Augusta. Getting tickets is easy, especially with the GTC app. The concessions are good -- I like that the popcorn is made fresh unlike some other places where they buy huge bags that sit around going stale. The self-service soft drinks or Icees are terrific. The theatres are very nice and the seats are comfortable. Granted some of them appear a bit worn, but considering how many people they serve on an average week, it's silly to expect the seats to be pristine. The floors are always clean and not sticky. I've been to some theatres where it's hard to walk because the floors were not mopped or swept. The reclining seats are a great way to watch the movies. Even when fully reclined, there's plenty of room for people to get by you. The staff are always friendly. Terrific place to see a movie. read more

This theater is very large and has a great food and snack area. However , tonight the bathrooms were extremely dirty and toilet paper was thrown about inside and outside of the stalls . There were no paper towels available . The toilets were dirty . The theater had popcorn on the carpet and during the movie two young girls came in to mop. The girl carrying the mop was holding it as though it was a rifle. NOT FUNNY. They ended up not cleaning thank goodness but they stood to the side and watched the movie for a short time. read more

This is a really great addition to the selection of theaters in the area. The prices are pretty much on par with the Regal Cinemas but with much better seats and shorter lines for the concession. You'll be surprised how large the lobby is and oh my gosh is that a do-it-yourself soda station? Time to experiment!! If only they had a do-it-yourself nacho station and candy you could buy in bulk. Any movie going experience not on par with Riverwatch Luxury Cinema (RLC) will just seem like a sad living room movie date. I am not ruined when it comes to the movie theater, thanks RLC! If I can't see a movie in a theater like this, I may as well wait for the Redbox. The tickets for GTX were around $17 so I was skeptical at first, but as soon as the preview started rolling I knew I made the right choice. Just pay the extra money and do it right! Visited here to check out a movie premier in their GTX theater and I was impressed. You buy tickets on the inside which is great(not sure why more theaters don't do this, and they also have a bar. We had previously purchased tickets online so using the kiosk to print our tickets was a breeze. After printing our tickets, we proceeded to the bar for drinks and took them inside the theater with us. The real star of the show here were the super comfortable, fully reclining seats. It was just as good as watching a movie at home, if not better. The seats here are going to make it difficult to visit the other area theaters now. I wanted to have a better experience than I had at this theatre. It wasn't bad but it wasn't 5 stars worthy. I arrived hours early for the last movie that was playing I think it was 9:15pm. I wanted to get there early to take in everything at this new location. It was a very crowded Saturday night. I had to park in the last parking slot in the parking lot. I like the fact that the box office is inside, so that you are not getting abuse by the elements. The attendant was very friendly and enthusiastic. I also like the fact that you can choose your seats in the theatre. I made my way to the lounge to sit and wait until it was time to see the movie. I like the fact that there was a tv there to watch and pass time. I don't think it's a great idea to sell alcohol in cups because I witness two spills the time I waited. Finally it was like maybe 20 minutes until the movie started, but the theatre that was playing the movie I was seeing wasn't ready yet. I don't like the fact that the restrooms are inside the theatre area instead of the lobby, so you have to walk passed the ticket attendant to enter the restroom. I went to the restroom before the movie. It was clean but there were no paper towels to wipe your hands dry only the device that you stick your hands in to dry them. That thing kind of freaks me out like it will chop your hands off or something. Weird but that's just me. I came out of the restroom and the movie theatre was still not ready. I waited by the restroom for minutes. The ticket attendant said the movie was ready so I gave him my ticket to tear, but once I went into the theatre the cleaning staff said it still wasn't ready, so I had to wait another few minutes. They didn't let anyone in until maybe 10 minutes before the movie started. I like to get in early and get situated. The theatre was smaller than I'm use to but nice. I loved the comfy chairs. I loved the sound and the picture was great as well. I think maybe they should not play movies too close together as far as time because it doesn't give them enough time to clean the theatre for the next patrons or have more staff to be ready to clean as soon as all of the patrons leave before the next movie.
