I think Smokey is one of the few real heroes out there, who have made their way into pop culture. I also think that everyone has had a Smokey the bear t-shirt at some point in their life, maybe a hat? Coming here, I learned about the origin of fire towers and controlled fires. There is reference to firefighters and firefighting, so this may also pass as a fire fighter museum. But the real reason I came here was to admire and look at the memorabilia of Smokey the bear. I really enjoyed seeing all the toys and items collected by the museum. I am really happy to have made it here.

Lots of interesting items on the inside and the grounds and views from where the museum sits is worth the stop in. There is quite a bit of information about her life throughout. I especially loved the Native American jewelry exhibit. There are many exquisite (and probably expensive) pieces on display, most donated to the museum by Anne Stradling. Cost: $7 for adults. Nice short video to give you some insight into what happened during the days of the activity at the Fort. Some of the buildings are being renovated to help the structure and preserve what damage was done due to time but that doesn't make the area less amazing. They had a few fun photo opportunity spots as well that we had fun snapping photos at & if you have smaller children, they have some space themed old ride on toys upfront. The woman who was working at the counter when we arrived was very friendly & great to chat with for a few minutes while we were buying our tickets, she helped add to the experience! I think this is a great spot not just for families with kids, but all the adults in our group had a great time looking at everything here as well. The winter landscape was not terribly bad though, as I saw the iced pond and the snow on the pine trees (were they pines?). I also walked by the statue of Smokey, and the grave.
