Would have recommended before showing up tonight. After 3 years of using the Kingston location, I…read morewas really disappointed to find out that Planet Fitness Kingston removed the 30-Minute Express Circuit room without consulting members. That room was the only reason I kept my membership after moving to Kingston--it offered a fast, structured, and accessible workout option that fit into my schedule and aligned with what Planet Fitness claims to stand for. Now it's been replaced with a giant tire and heavy free weights, catering to a completely different crowd. This shift moves away from the "Judgement Free Zone" philosophy and turns the gym into just another generic fitness center. For people who are new to fitness, short on time, or looking for a welcoming space to work out--there's nothing left for us here. If Planet Fitness wants to make changes this significant, they should at least ask their members first. Otherwise, they're just becoming the next GoodLife--and losing what made them different in the first place. Adding to this, I attempted to do the survey that was provided on how the new equipment is, and the survey only allows you to select the USA locations such that there is no way to provide feedback on the changes or impact.

This club is great, if you don't ever plan on moving. If you might move at some point, read on…read more What a nightmare trying to cancel my membership after I moved to a location that didn't have a facility. For clarity, I signed up in Abbotsford, moved to Kingston, ON which has a club, but then moved to Calgary, AB which doesn't have a club. It has been months of being given the run around, and having my cancellation letter and emails to Abbotsford ignored. Despite the  Kingston staff saying I had to cancel through my "home" club, Abbotsford decided I needed to cancel through Kingston. Which I would have done but Kingston wouldn't process it. Even after I sent the sent registered mail on my dime as requested, the company continued to take 4 months of dues from my bank account. This is because Abbotsford ignored my registered letter instead of doing the "reasonable" thing and looking into it or passing it along to Kingston. Further, the staff members at both clubs were horrible to deal with, saying this was on me, neither of them ever apologizing for the confusion. In fact, they refused to refund me the dues they took after I sent in my cancellation letter, and said they were doing me a favour by cancelling my membership over the phone, which is against their policy. What a disgusting attitude to take with me when I was doing what the Kingston staff told me to do.

The gym itself was pretty nice--well-equipped, spacious, good locker room. However, the customer…read moreservice was terrible. I was in town this past Monday, Feb. 4, and only needed to use the gym once. I called earlier to seek options and was told that I could either do a one-time drop-in or a 14-day trial - the latter was cheaper. When I arrived at the location, a woman named Sam received me. When I explained that I only needed to use the gym once and was told that the trial was recommended to me, she told me that I must sign up online (which was true) and must go to somewhere else to connect to wifi and sign up. She didn't offer to help in any way, nor did she mention any other options. It was only minutes after I walked out of the gym did I recall I could after all simply do a one-time drop in, so I went back and paid the $15 drop-in fee. I told her she could've reminded that there was this option as well, she simply, rudely answered back, "you didn't ask me about it." As a customer service staff member, she had the job duty to consider and introduce options for a new customer who might not know the situation well and was not familiar with the different plans available (not to mention that the slightly more expensive one-time drop-in could help the sales more, though not much). That I did not ask her about one-time drop-in was not an excuse to not do her job and reject a new customer. She was rude, inconsiderate, unhelpful, and unsympathetic. This kind of bad customer service would eventually ruin the reputation of such fitness establishments.
