    Viewing area closed. COVID?

Enjoyable morning at the Fort Worth Aviation Museum. It's a small place - one room indoor space and then the planes and helicopters outside - and the affordable admission prices reflect that. We snagged a groupon on sale and were able to get our whole family in for $7.00, but the regular prices are pretty reasonable. Last year we visited the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum in San Diego and I'd say this is on par with that. Small, but still very neat to see the aircrafts up close. The docents were all very friendly and engaging, not only answering questions but also volunteering answers to questions we didn't think to ask. A few interactive parts appeared to be closed due to COVID, but you still could walk through the CH-53 Sea Stallion. There was also a bare-bones helicopter open to kids for playing. Otherwise, it was mostly just looking and picture taking. I think the museum could be improved by adding stairs to some of the aircrafts so visitors could climb up and view the inside. The hours are extremely limited - 9a to 2p Saturday's only. With young kids, plan to spend about an hour to an hour and a half. Without kids, you'll probably want to spend a little more time inside and at each aircraft, so I'd plan for a 2 hour visit.

Seeing all the History and Work of the men and women in our nation. Sharing with me Children and Grandchildren has been great

Wow...! My 17 yo and I went in (early) to check out the museum. Mr. Akers took us around on the most amazing tour of our country's planes and artifacts. I'm so grateful to meet the crew at the museum who showed us what pieces meant to them and how they impacted our country. Super hot day. Wear sunblock and bring waters. There are at least 30 aircraft and it's hands on!

This plane was actually in the movie Top Gun! Neat!

We've now been to 4 aviation museums, and this place ties for best. This place has docents, and if one is available, your visit will be so much more enjoyable. Gib was our docent, and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He was a military pilot, and a commercial airline pilot after that. Quite a career! We spent about 45 minutes inside looking at displays, which was extremely informative. There's a lot of history inside that building. Next, about 1 1/2 hours outside looking at planes. Gib knew the history on a lot of them. They also repair and restore planes here. A whole LOT of volunteers spend a lot of time here. One of the volunteer mechanics was checking out a Harrier Jump Jet, and he took the time to talk to us. SO informative. Thank you sir. We had to leave because of our time frame, but it would be easy to stay longer. Gib, thank you for your time. We certainly enjoyed our visit.

What an amazing collection of aircrafts and pleasant staff. I spent 2 hours with the knowledgeable and fun Sherry! Thanks for all you and the other volunteers do at the Museum!

We came here yesterday for a birthday party and really loved it! Such a different idea, and it's really interesting to learn about the planes and their history. John gave us a tour and he was great, very knowledgeable! We want to come back when the weather is cooler so that we can take more pictures with all of the planes!

First trip out there. Wide range of military aircraft that I had no idea existed here in Fort Worth and so close by. Took some great shots and uploaded them for you all to view. Got a change to talk to some of the volunteers and docents and what a great job they have done to put this place together and keep it going for the public. You have to check it out. Great place to just hand out and enjoy the aircraft up close and personal.

Just simply a cool place to go for adults or kids that are into aircraft. You're probably only going to be able to spend an hour or two max, but it's worth it for the low cost.

Well worth the trip. Jim was very friendly and informative. Also he has a lot of knowledge and experience to keep you intrigued. I myself was an Air Force crew chief. This visit made me appreciate more about where we live and it's history with flight and the way we changed the future of aviation. Great place for kids and adults.

I would recommend going elsewhere to learn about the history of Ft. Worth and/or the Stockyards. Everyone behind the counter is far more interested in rushing people through doors and selling them all the chotchkis than welcoming visitors. Lesson learned. Back in the day, this building was known as "The Wall Street of the West" as so much money exchanged hands buying and selling beef. I recommend any first time visitor here to go through this museum to learn more about the history of this place. A suggested admission fee is $2 and well worth that expense. The museum also includes a gift shop of reasonably priced souvenirs. The most famous part of this museum is a light bulb that has been continuously burning for over 100 years and is the second oldest continuous burning light bulb in the world. There are also many other interesting artifacts of the old Stockyard to view. Budget about 15-20 minutes inside and it's a great place to get away from the heat outside too. Closed Tuesdays.

There's plenty of room to explore without feeling crowded, and the overall atmosphere is calm and welcoming. That said, the museum does feel a bit dated in places. Several of the hands-on exhibits designed for kids -- especially the ones with buttons and interactive elements -- weren't working, which was a little disappointing since that's often what kids are most excited about. On the positive side, it's still better than the science museum in Houston, in our experience. The planetarium is one of the better ones around, and the absolute standout is the Omni Theater helicopter ride -- you simply cannot beat it. That alone is worth the visit and completely captivated our child. Overall, while some updates and maintenance would go a long way, this is still a strong family-friendly museum and a great outing for young kids.

I love that it's an interactive museum with many exhibits. You can take your kiddo/s here, and they can be entertained for hours. It's perfect for rainy days, or unfavorable weather days instead of just bring at home with your little one/s. This is a great spot to take them, and they will definitely let all their energy out. My little one enjoyed the Marvel section, especially since he got to wear a cape, the grocery store they have for the kiddos, as well as other interactive play areas within the museum. They have a café inside, and I'll have pictures of their menu. Oh, and you have to pay for parking, but if you're a member you're able to get a discount. My son had a good night's sleep after all the walking around. I highly recommend it to anyone who had little ones. They can run around or crawl for hours here.
