I was able to get in a cut with a same day appointment that I conveniently made online. Very friendly staff and Will did an excellent job with the haircut. The barber shop looks awesome so after moving to Fort Worth I gave them a try. First time I was happy enough, not stoked up not upset however last time I got just a decent hair cut. Not amazing but something that after a few weeks would look fine but my barber messed my beard up. I mean messed it up bad. I have spent weeks letting it grow and trimming in to attempt to get it corrected. I think another month of working on it I can get it back to something that can be fixed . For the price I was shocked that my barber casually said I have been cutting hair for almost 2 years now. Set up like something in between an old-school barber shop and a lounge, it is definitely a good place to grab a few of your friends get your hair cut and a straight shave, and perhaps watch some football too (I heard some patrons even brought a few beers for their outing). The interior is sleek and welcoming, with a couch as well as a table with bar stools running through the middle of the shop, inviting patrons to interact and enjoy the experience. As mentioned, this is at its core, an old-school barbershop. So expect a professional hair cut at a good price ($25) and you have the option to do the fabled straight shave as well. Raz did a great job with the haircut (The Girlfriend approved) and I scheduled an appointment to come back, so I can bring the old man and we can get straight shaves. This place is fantastic. I'm from Fort Worth but live in the Bay Area now. There are classic barber shops like this all over the Bay Area, but FW has never had one. I was happy to see when visiting for the holidays this year that Fort Worth Barbershop is now open! It was easy to get an appointment a day in advance, but you better plan ahead - they book up quickly the day of. The place is modern and hip with a Brooklyn/Portland kind of vibe. They offer a free beer while you are getting your cut. And there's a huge community table in the middle that kind of feels like a bar. Made me want to stay and hang out. The crew is really cool and laid back. Everyone is involved in the same conversation - great place to just kick it. As for the cut, exactly what I wanted. In fact, they did what I've been trying to get my barbershop in Oakland to do for months now. They have great stylists and I was really satisfied with my haircut. They offered me a drink upon arrival (beer, water) which was awesome. I just see 2 major downsides to this barbershop - there are no walk-ins allowed, so don't think you can just show up on a whim and get a haircut. Also, they're only open until 6PM at the latest...I don't understand why they don't stay open later in the evening to give working people a chance to get off work and get a haircut. Unfortunately, I did not read the review written by Owen S. before I visited Fort Worth Barber Shop on August 18. I had an appointment for about two weeks as I was leaving for a "working vacation" which was to, in part, to interact with clients in Colorado. Let me back up a bit; I had received a bad haircut in May at another place and had to let my (short) hair grow back to the point it just needed to be lightly trimmed to get rid of my "shaggy" look. When I entered the shop, I had to wait about 15 minutes for the person to arrive that I had a 10:00 appointment with. I wanted a hot shave and clearly explained about the haircut I needed -- just a light trim on the top and sides and clean up my neck and sideburns -- and "old man" haircut. First, Sacrennette, my barber had not arrived in time to properly heat the towels for the shave. The "hot" shave was, at best, lukewarm followed by a wrap with cold towels at the end. She used clippers to finish shaving my mustache area which I thought was unusual. I had never had a hot shave that included electric clippers. Next, she proceeded to give me the WORST haircut I have ever had including the one I had at Marine Corps boot camp. Simply put, it was a mess. She virtually gave me a "white sidewall" with a shark fin on the top. I looked like a teenager with a punk haircut ready to play pinball, not a business man that needed to have a professional appearance. When I saw it, she asked the barber next to her what she should do blaming everything on my cowlicks. My hair that used to lay down was standing up. She recommended some kind of hair grease she used to force it to lay down, but I passed on that one. If you are young and want that "punk look" maybe this is your place if you don't mind spending $28.00 for a haircut and $33.00 for a lukewarm shave. I won't be back. I just want to find a true barber shop that will give me an "old man's" haircut. read more

Upon arrival, my wife and I showed up together before going to her birthday dinner. Jennifer offered us drinks: ice-cold beer and hard root beer. That was a fantastic start. The vibe was relaxed, hip and retro. There's an old-school feel to this modern establishment. The open garage doors to the shop keep the weather out unless it's that magical time of year to let it in. And, my appointment was a perfect day to bring the outside in. Danny worked on my thick, coarse hair. He did a great job cleaning up my mop, thinning it out and the warm shaving foam on the back of my neck for the straight-razor shave was straight out of yesteryear. Danny is an utmost professional. He offered the perfect amount of conversation, inquisitive to learn about his client and shares great information about his qualifications and previous-life experiences. While this establishment surely has the right idea, I think there are some things missing before I would rate it 5-stars: What sets Barbers apart is their fine attention to detail. This is the difference between precision haircuts and work done by a salon hairstylist. Therefore, every aspect of the barbershop should apply this mantra. I love the traditional cuts and straight-razor shave. My haircut looks great! BUT, the tiny details did not completely add up to a "5-star" experience. One of the most relaxing parts of a barbershop cut is the end where the barber will do a straight-razor detail on the nape. I only wish my experience would have included a lather. My barber merely did a dry cut. This was slightly uncomfortable and was diminishing to the The service is definitely friendly. Complimentary beer is absolutely a great option. Maybe eventually draft beer will become available (I'm thinking kegerator!). Unfortunately, I wasn't greeted with a handshake by my barber. While this may seem minuscule, I find that an important component to the initial barber-guest interaction. I was disappointed with some of the atmospheric qualities of the shop as well. There was no music playing! Instead, I had to listen to the commentary and halftime report of a college football game. Not exactly what I was expecting. I also noticed small things, like dust-bunnies and old piles of hair that were just hanging out on the floor. Not unusual to see hair on the ground, but it looked like an easy clean that had not been attended to. Overall, Fort Worth Barbershop has the best to offer in the city. The concepts are there, but I would prefer better execution of them to be a truly great shop. Hopefully in the next several months they can make these changes. I showed up literally 4 minutes late to my beard trim appointment. Upon arriving I was told, "Well I got 10 minutes on your beard trim. I'll just try to do as much as I can." Not wanting to pay for half of a job I said, "No thank you. I want to make sure the job is complete." He replied, "I should be able to get MOST of it done." I left very frustrated and called the manager explaining that I had driven across town for the appointment and what had happened. She apologized, but did not offer to do anything about it. I figured they could have at least given me a discount on my next trip. After all, if you don't even have that authority why are you called a manager? I understand about respect for a schedule, but I was 5 minutes early to my last appointment and still waited 20 minutes. Awesome laid back place. I walked into the shop wearing the longest beard there, close to 5 inches. I instructed the barber to take off very little and to square off sideburns and to do very minimal shaping. What I walked away with was a 2 inch hipster beard and about an hour of work at home, trying to salvage the scalp job that I paid 18 dollars for. Luckily I had the barber keep his electric clippers far from my mustache. The barber was as nice and as professional as can be. But unless you are wanting a completely different look with your beard, I would stay far away from this place, especially if you have any kind of serious investment in your beard. After hearing I was less than satisfied with the scalp job, the shop manager offered the service for free but I paid anyway. I was put on a priority list for a hot shave the following day, but I will not take another chance at this establishment. I took a gamble and ignored the other review stating he got his beard scalped off, but I would strongly urge you to not ignore a second one from me. read more
