We emailed back and forth and agreed upon a date price and location of the Huntington Beach pier. He did not show. When I contacted him to get an ETA when he was late for the shoot, he said he never confirmed with us. I sent him a screenshot of the email where he said he would meet us and stated if I have questions to call him. After I sent the screenshot he did offer any apology, but rather replied back asking if I wanted to reschedule. This was a huge inconvenience for us since we had already paid for parking and were already at the location. A little backstory on this, we were visiting from Florida and my sister came down from Lemoore that morning just for this photo shoot so rescheduling was not an option. Book Mr. Wong with caution because if he finds a better gig he will leave you high and dry.

Pros: Skillful photography. Reasonable pricing…read more Cons: On location fees pricey. Our company has been using Steve for a few years now. It all started out when I couldn't book our former photographer for a half-day of shooting about 5 or 6 headshots at our offices. I booked Steve instead and haven't regretted it. Steve does everything he can to get the best shot. That includes telling the people he's shooting exactly how to pose. His subjects don't get to just sit around and say "cheese." He treats them like models, telling them things like "move your head to your left...right shoulder down...rotate your hips to the left..." If he sees wrinkles in the clothing he'll go right up to tug them and straighten them out. Our executives often come back whining--they thought they had it easy for the afternoon, but Steve made 'em work for that picture! He recently did our company group photo shoot. The previous photographer only brought the camera the day of the shoot. Steve came out the day before and scouted the area to find the best light. The day of the shoot he arrived an hour early to set up lighting and risers, none of which the previous photographer brought. When photo time came he climbed a ladder and shot us from the middle of a somewhat busy street. After that he reviewed all the photos, chose the best overall picture, and did some headswapping (which was undetectable). One of our executives was busy on a phone call, and Steve even shot him after the fact, but did some Photoshop work to put him in! I was pleasantly surprised our fee included the scouting, setup, photography, and post-production work. Steve doesn't just accept the setting and subject matter of his photo the way they are. He brings proper equipment and modifies his environment and subject matter to make the photo the best. The only negative I've run into so far is that on-location shooting fees for headshots can be quite pricey if you're only shooting one or two people, so unless you're getting several executives done at once, they'll have to go to his studio.
