All I can say is.. why couldn't I come across Marisela a year ago??! We just had our appointment with Marisela yesterday for my son's first birthday yesterday and she already got pictures back to us so we can start getting them ready for his party in a few weeks. Besides being so happy with the results of our photos, Marisela went above and beyond when it came to my situation. I had booked both maternity and newborn photos, but I gave birth to my daughter 14 weeks early. Marisela was extremely understanding about rescheduling when it came to our NICU discharge. Wow! I just don't have enough great things to say about Marisela!!!! I spent sooo much time researching photographers in our area that had great style but at a reasonable price especially since we were in the market for maternity, birth and newborn photography and not many offer birth or they are extremely expensive. Thankfully my midwives recommended Marisela. I saw her work online and instantly fell in love but thought there was no way we would be able to afford her. I took the chance and sent her a message, she responded promptly and was able to put something together for us that worked with our budget! Her studio is sooo cute and family friendly! She even has a diaper changing station with all the necessities and in the bathroom you can find hairspray for final touch ups before your shoot. She instantly makes you feel so comfortable and you will feel like you've known her for years! My husband and I are so awkward with photos and she made us both feel so at ease! On top of that she is a baby whisperer and amazing with toddlers! Our almost 3 year old daughter is shy and hates taking pictures and somehow Marisela managed to get the sweetest shots of us with her. She totally understands because she has a toddler of her own! She even changed my baby's diaper one time! Talk about being treated like family! She is always prompt and has an amazing wardrobe you can choose from which makes it so easy especially when there's a newborn and toddler involved! She's creative, has an amazing eye for detail, she will pose you as if she was posing herself, she knows how to work all the angles! She has amazing equipment and I love that she will show you some photos as you are going along so you can see how things are going. I love that so much! The shots come out so amazing they look like they don't even need to be edited. But she works her magic on them and they turn out jaw dropping! I never had to ask for more edits, she just knows what looks great! Maybe it was the prego hormones but I cried when I saw our shots! I'm writing this review based on my experience with Marisela and the studio time. I haven't even gotten my photos back yet and I have to say just seeing some of the photos off her camera made me comfortable that she got some amazing shots. We booked her for newborn photos and she even got in sibling and family shots for us. We are so very grateful for her time and patience. I had planned for my 2 year old son to nap on the way to her and of course he didn't and my newborn, who normally sleeps for 3-4 hour stretches was wide awake during the shoot and was breaking out of her wraps. Marisela was incredibly patient and assured me that everything will be okay. She accommodated us pleasantly and her studio is incredibly clean and well kept. She has plenty of options for you to use and anything that's been used was put aside to be sanitized. She even has a changing table and extra diaper in the event that you'd need it. My daughter annoyingly spoiled herself frequently during the shoot and went through all our diapers! I had decided at the last minute to apply for a position that required a full-length photo so on the Friday before the application was due I looked for a photographer near Reston on Yelp!. Sure enough Yelp! came through again with a few five-star recommendations. I looked at their websites and chose Picture Moments Photography as the pictures there were just gorgeous. I emailed the company email with my fingers crossed that they would get back to me in time, and sure enough, Marisela responded within 12 hours saying she would love to work with me and we set up an appointment for Sunday afternoon. I walked in to our appointed place (a conference room) 15 minutes early so I could change into my uniform and she was already there with most of her set-up done. There was a black backdrop (I had the choice between black or white and chose black) and two white light umbrellas (sorry I have no idea what they're called) all ready to go. I changed and we were in business. Marisela is very easy to work with and friendly yet utterly professional. I had never done a photo shoot like this before and she made me feel comfortable right away. I had two friends with me and she answered questions between taking shots and was not flustered at all. I told her that her job was to make me look skinny and she managed to do that without using special lenses or photoshopping anything. She also had me take pictures in other areas nearby where she liked the color and lighting just to see what would happen. We were done within an hour and on our way to grab something to eat while she worked on the pictures. When we came back she had six photos that she thought were the best. They were all great. Later that evening she emailed me more options that she had worked on and they were excellent as well. The interesting thing is the one I ended up using was one she took without the black background as although it wasn't as professional looking as the others against the black, it did look the best. Marisela is a perfectionist and worked very hard for the amount she charged. I am fully satisfied and will refer her to anyone who is looking for a professional photographer. read more

My daughter, who lives in Brooklyn, NY, found Marisela Yelp and hired her to do a photo shoot as a gift for my birthday. I can't say having my picture taken is my favorite thing to do I but is did appreciate the gift. It has been many years since we had family pictures taken.
