They shot our friends' weddings very early on and now they are our circle's unofficial wedding photographer. They are so good we choose them (LA-based) over many of the Bay Area photographers in our own backyard. Their work speaks for itself. It's hard to describe their work and style because it's really just awesome art. We also bought an album from them and it was spectacular. Yes, our wedding did cost an arm and a leg, but Apertura was one of the few vendors that was worth every single penny. We highly getting their album package... if you can afford it. They are a hot commodity now, but still maintain a level of humility that is admirable. People as good as them usually have big heads (we know, we've talked to many of them), so it's refreshing to see talented people get the recognition they deserve. But onto the real review... Apertura as a wedding photographer (they do shoot non-wedding events and commercial work as well): if we word to use one word to describe their technique it'd be "stealthy." And if there was second word, we'd use "intuitive." They shot our engagement session and wedding day so we know their technique pretty well by now. We also blog-stalked them for months before our wedding, hoping to take the best type of shots from every couple. In the end, it didn't matter. They shoot fast and furious, but with a genius eye. You won't realize how talented they are until you see them work. We were in San Francisco's Embarcadero Center and we moved from site to site without wasting any time. This is key during an e-session shoot and your wedding day. You want to spend the most time with your friends and family while still capturing key, breathtaking moments with a professional lens. It's still very hard to describe how great their work is. Their portfolio will speak for itself, but what differentiates the good from the bad photographers are technique and professionalism. These guys have it. It's no wonder they are fast becoming one of the most recognized photographers around. And we're so glad to be their first review on Yelp!

I cannot say enough positive things about working with Brian. From the moment we met him, we knew he was the right fit for us. He is a super nice guy and did a fantastic job photographing our special day as well as our engagement photos. He was very responsive, has a great eye for capturing beautiful moments and totally professional. He was really easy to work with and was quite affordable for someone of his high caliber and talent. I would highly recommend using his services for any occasion. In fact, we have continued to use Brian for other occasions, most recently, my pregnancy photos and will use him to take photos of our new baby. We have forged a great partnership with Brian and will have him capture all our special moments going forward. BTW, our wedding video and photographs turned out awesome. He seriously got every imaginable shot possible and we loved our video too!!

He didn't even have a booth at one of those hotel expos, I got his info from a friend whose wedding was shot back in the days when they actually used film (early 2000's) Needless to say, Brian uses high end digital stuff now & gave us thousands of great pics to chose from when making our albums. We did the engagement pics near his studio in Huntington Beach. I'm still amazed at how good the pics by the HB Pier of my then fiancee & I look. We have a giant framed print in our room standing in front of the Pacific w/super clarity. When we included several of those shots in our reception slideshow, you could literally hear the oohs & aahs. We also decided to go w/him because of the combo- package deal of making a dvd of the ceremony & reception hi-lights. Brian & his apprentice were totally cool to work with staying an hour later than in the contract for no extra charge since the reception hall was late w/dinner etc. (Hey, these things happen! : ) I've been to a lot of weddings & I can say I've never seen a photographer handle getting all the extended family shots after the ceremony w/the bride & groom as well as Brian. (there never seems to be enough time, Uncle Larry seems to have wandered off etc) This dude was able in the 15 mins the church gave us to get both sides of extend fam & wedding party posed & notice right away if someone was blinking & re-shoot it on the fly while doing some pretty cool artistic things to boot. A pretty great experience for us overall!

I paid pretty decent amount of money and quality of picture were just alright. Few things that i do not like: #1 Don Lee is only shooting Engagement photo. Usually, other studio main photographer shoots wedding day but this studio is not. #2 album quality - poor! When i receive album, proportion of picture is not even and it was part of the value that I purchase but seriously I can't even show it to anyone. I woke up to and email saying that he never heard from me. I kindly told him what happened and that it is easier to check my email so if he could just email me the info he needed. He said ok and asked one question which I replied to quickly on break. I check my email again 3 hours later and I have 3 emails from him getting frustrated because I'm not replying to him. He literally sent me an email just saying "hello?" Because I wasn't replying fast enough for him. If he acts like this just for a quote, I don't want to know what it would be like to use him for my wedding. If I were you, I would look elsewhere if you want someone to treat you with respect and understand you may work during the day. Update: after the owner posted a comment to my review. I decided it is best that everyone sees how rude his messages were to me. I had told him I was working and that I would reply when I could. His responses are very rude and unprofessional. I would not want to work with someone like this on my wedding day.

It took him over 3 months to get up to 20 photos and a very TERRIBLE VIDEO to US! Of course, his CONTRACT is so POORLY WRITTEN it doesn't state how long he has to get your work to you! We paid for 2 videographers and 1 photographer for 10 hours! We got 4 hours or so of an often empty dance floor video and 20 photos!! They missed SO MANY IMPORTANT MOMENTS we had a photo list, we had a coordinator, BUT his CONTRACT states he isn't responsible for any CERTAIN PHOTOS NO MATTER WHAT!!! Of course, he'll tell you otherwise! DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE PROMISES only TRUST THE CONTRACT. He writes it so VAGUE and unclear even the Judge had to get clarification from HIM on a meaning!! His CONTRACT also states HE DOESN't NEED TO TAKE ANY CERTAIN photos and NO GUARANTY that he'll get the special picture! HE'll verbally promise you hundred's of photos but will ONLY DELIVER VERY FEW in ratio to the number taken!! When you question him about it he'll refer to the POORLY WRITTEN CONTRACT! Meaning you are SCREWED! We sadly learned all of this in Los Angeles County Superior Court! Can you believe he sued me for a BAD REVIEW!!! Of course, he lost but the Judge sad whatever he PROMISED you OUTSIDE of the CONTRACT DOESN'T MATTER! We learned a valuable lesson in COURT! Don't TRUST what SAM MEDIA Yashir Basheer says! Very unprofessional and super slow with getting our photos back…read more We booked them for both engagement and wedding package and that was a mistake. After our engagement shoot it took him 1 month to give our photos back. His editing is very basic, he just did lots of sepia and black and white filters. He asked for 60 photos to design our album and I sent those back to him. It took him another 2 months to give us a proof of the album. Now let me tell you, the proof of our album looked nothing like their samples in their studio. It was a terrible design, it looked super lazy and very little effort. I had to make notes and edit each and every page of his proof. And i sent that back. We waited for a few weeks and didn't hear back and we had enough. Not only was his time management terrible and incredibly slow, his work sucked!! Totally felt catfished. We decided to let them go as our photographers for the wedding and he said we had to pay a $500 fee for cancelling. Keep in mind we gave them a $1000 deposit already. No where in their contract does it state there is a fee and he said doesn't matter there is a cancellation fee. He held our album and large canvas print hostage. (Not sure if he even got those done because he works so slow) We didn't feel this was legal, so we spoke with our lawyer and he agreed they legally couldn't charge us a fee. When we mentioned we spoke with our lawyer he immediately told us he doesn't feel comfortable working with us anymore and ghosted us since. So we paid him $1000 for a photo shoot with no product except the digital photos that had terrible/basic editing. We ended up doing another photo shoot with another photographer for only 1 hr and we loved every single photo we got from her!! This guy spent like 5 hrs with us and we barely got like 5 photos we like. You definitely get what you pay for, so be careful booking him if you want to cherish your special day.

The worst service I have received in at least the last 3-4 years in any place…read more I think this story can summarize how terrible it was. I work in the service industry, I never, EVER disrespect anyone. I did not raise my voice and I remained patient and I believe patience is what can kill horrible service people. 1. Our photos are shot but they do not inform anyone that the photos are available 2. I come back and ask for the photo. There are 2 piles of 30-50 photos in each. 3.She gives me 1 of the piles and instructs me to GO ACROSS THE HALL. There is a 2nd pile FYI. 4. I go across the hall and my photo is not in there so I ask for the 2nd pile and she says NO. 5. I ask to have a reprint and she says IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. I look on her screen and I see my digital photo! I ask her to print it and she finally concedes. 6.She tells me I have to wait... as she does absolutely nothing. Checks her phone. I still remain calm. 7. By this time my family has taken 2 rounds of shots and I realize it wasn't worth it to make a point so I tell her to have a nice night. If you love this service, go ahead and book them.

I picked up a LivingSocial voucher for Dacy Nottingham Photography as he was local to my area and…read morewilling to drive to my home for a foto shoot of my girls. I recently had some issues that prevented me from using the voucher before it expired but Dacy was very patient and accommodating at scheduling the shoot past its expiration date and still honoring the full value of the voucher. My girls (4 and 1.5) were the subjects of the photo shoot and he was very patient with them as shooting little kids can be a bit touch and go. He got some really great informal candid shots of them that were very sweet and he was very accommodating in Photoshopping some background junk out of some fotos for a minimal charge. The pictures ordered and produced are of good quality and promptly delivered. Arriving in time for Fathers Day - the grandparents, god fathers and uncles who received them love them. They were a surprise Fathers Day gift for their father who enjoyed them as well. I am very happy to recommend Dacy for other families and event photography.

Fast forward to a few years down the road.. My cousin couldn't find the info for his videographer when I was finally planning my own wedding. I was so bummed! Some friends, family and I went to the Pala Casino bridal expo. I told my Mom I really wanted to find a great videographer like the one my cousin Brian had. I passed a few videography booths that I just didn't care for. Finally, I turned the corner and out of all videos, Dacy was playing my cousin Brian's wedding video at his booth. I was beyond excited! I knew I needed him for our wedding. It was meant to be. I booked Dacy that day and have no regrets whatsoever. Our video came back and is more gorgeous than I even expected. I cried watching it.
