Our group's second time lunching here. Cook is amiable and prices very reasonable (Lunch specials, $7.49!) When we arrived, he was just taking down a sign that he was late arriving, so the restaurant was very cold, but food was hot, plentiful portions, and delicious. Calling in your order is usually twenty minutes or so. The selection of food will satisfy everyone in the family. They have set out food tastes as the standard to other Chinese food places. The food is good, i've ordered here about two times now. but it seems as though every time i order it takes longer then they say, the first time i ordered they didn't even give me a time, ordered two meals and it took at least 40 minutes. The second time they said 10 minutes and it ended up being about 15-20. The crab ragons are so incredibly small that they are about the size of a 5 year olds palm. but they were good so i guess im not complaining. the atmosphere is ok, they are a little messy, there is unopened cans of soda on the counters, and just junk on their side of the counters. I questioned the crab rangoon about red sauce I was told it comes with it... well it didn't luckily I have it at home!!! The best Chinese food in the Red Lion area. Portions are large. I have to agree about the General Tso it can be a bit dry sometimes. I think it may be to the fact they may precook chicken pieces which with dry it out even with the sauce. They adjust heat to your liking. The Wonton Soup is very good lots of Wonton and flavor. Great house fried rice. I have had pretty much everything on the menu including some of the sushi but prefer San Sushi restaurant. Prices are good value. The whole family works there. Great spring rolls. Although there is a dining area, the place was a donut shop years ago so the table booth bench seats still in place. I always do takeout. We have been loyal Fortune Garden patrons since moving to the area two years ago and trying the other Chinese food places in Red Lion. I am not saying the food is on par with big city Chinese food, but it's definitely good. The reason for dropping a star is the girl who answers the phone is never very nice. I get that it's a family business, and I think it's valuable that their daughter is working alongside her family, but I wish they would emphasize being more personable on the telephone. I was in the restaurant one night when she was working the counter (I usually order for takeout), and what doesn't translate over the telephone is her dry, sarcastic humor. We would have given this place a zero rating, however that's not possible. We placed our order for delivery by phone. I was told my total order had to be $15.00, I was about .45 cents short. So I ordered enough to bring the total up. After being told it would be 45 minutes, I had to call after 1 hour. We were told " it's on the way." Well the food was cold. The wonton soup was so salty we couldn't eat i!! My shrimp lo Mein was a game of not only were was the shrimp? What is in this? It was so dark and salty it couldn't be eaten. My husband had ordered Beef with mixed vegetables. He said it was the worst he ever had. At that point we decided to take the entire order and throw it all in the trash!! This is our go to Chinese take-out in Red Lion. Fast, affordable, down right delicious. Some of our house favorites are the Seafood Lomein and the Hot and Spicy Lomein. These are the two best lo meins I have ever had. Period. The Hot and Spicy Lomein is something I have never experienced outside of this restaurant. We also love their Shrimp with Garlic sauce, Japanese chicken, and Hawaii-five O. My kids never complain and devour the standard favorites such as sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli. I agree with the sentiment that the General Tsos was dry, but now that I learned you can ask for things "extra saucy" (as I did with the Japanese chicken) I might venture to try the General Tso's again. However, there are so many other yummy things to eat, I don't really miss it. read more

This restaurant is my go to place in the area for Chinese. Excellent General Tso's chicken and Sesame Chicken. Their Sweet and Sour was good too, but as I always take food home it came with the sauce separate which was a little different. I suppose if I was storing it (as I always do with half the portion as they are so big) I'd appreciate the chicken not getting soggy in the sauce, but the others come with the sauce on them. I tried their Szechuan Steak but I'm not a fan. Other places where I've gotten it do a twice fried version that leaves the steak ALMOST crunchy, which I really like. Although I have driven past here for years I just have recently been stopping in and been impressed. Their egg Foo young is great, the Happy Family is some of the best I've ever had. My fiance has loved the food here since he was in high school (almost 10 years) however when we ordered food today it was too dry-maybe it was an "off" day. (Hence the 2 stars). However, we called in our order. The girl who answered the phone didn't really say anything besides "yeah?" When she picked up. She also didn't know how to answer any questions I had in regards to the menu (I.e. if they had a specialty sushi roll). Not only did she not have the answers but she was rude. So we placed our order anyway. I had to ask her how long it would be since we had to pick it up. If the phone call wasn't enough of a doozy, when we brought the food home, there was nothing but food in the bag. No napkins, no chopsticks, no fortune cookie, and no sauces! Besides the bag lacking the "extras" that every other Chinese restaurant gives, the crab Rangoon didn't have any dipping sauces either. When I called back and asked, not only were her replies short and rude, but her answer was "it doesn't say it comes with a sauce" yet on the menu, they picture the crab Rangoon with duck sauce, as it is served anywhere else. Maybe I am a bit biased since I worked at a Chinese restaurant as the hostess for 3 years. But all I know is that was by-far the worst customer service from a restaurant that I have ever had. I will be the first in 2018 to review Fortune Garden. It is my favorite take out Chinese Restaurant in York. I have not had any dish that I did not like. Just some better then others as I like to try different things. Their California Sushi is great and always fresh. I know that tastes differ and people do not like to wait for orders to arrive ....but bottom line is over all this place is GOOD. Had dinner there 2 years ago. Excellent. Had dinner there last week. Wonton soup was bouillon cubes. Wontons had to be cut with a knife. Egg roll was bland. Couldn't find anything but cabbage. Moo goo Gui Pan was not edible." The chicken had the texture of slimy jello. The white sauce was nothing but water and starch. Giant Food Store in Cape Horn has the best Chinese Food in Red Lion.
