My husband and I were so excited to come check out the Foss State Park because the water looked so nice in photos, and they have a sandy beach for swimming. Being from Florida and somewhat displaced, we thought this would be a great chance to experience a bit of home. We brought our puppy to see how he would do with a lake and sand, because everything we saw on the Travel OK website said pets were allowed as long as they were on a leash. We decided to try the Panther Creek area where the map indicated a start to the Great Western Trail and a boat ramp. Well, we got out and searched around and there was no trail to be found, just lots of long grass overtaking a few picnic areas looking like they hadn't been used in years. Next, we decided to try the Sandy Beach Area to see what the camping areas looked like and also see if we could find the hiking trail there, it looked like it intersected with that place. Nothing! Couldn't see anything. No trails, no markers. The camping areas looked great though, lots of space and a few shady areas with water view and a little dock for boats. So we decided to head over and check out the beach at last. We found a spot to park and by this point all 5 of the cool "Palapas" or tiki huts were taken and every three feet by the parking area signs were posted saying "no alcohol, no pets, no glass..." we were extremely disappointed to see these signs which contradicted what the website said. In addition, we didn't feel like being spoken to or told to leave because of our pup and so we just left. Water did look nice, but the beach was so much smaller than we expected. There weren't any restrooms in the beach area, and no place to change into a swimsuit. So, a sad visit for us but I'm sure if people didn't want to hike and arrived earlier to the beach the experience would be great read more
