I've been seeing Dr. Calva for a few years. It started when I was having back and shoulder pain. I started seeing Dr. Calva each week and when I got progressively a lot better, I kept my appts. Dr. Calva started helping me with other issues that I couldn't pin point, but he was able to tell when something was off. At each appt, I learn something new about myself and my body. Dr. Calva is one of the most effective, skilled, intelligent and genuinely kind/caring doctors of the very many I've ever met. It says a lot that 5 of my immediate family (who have had many experiences with great chiropractic care from Boston/NYC to Bay Area over 30+ years) have one by one been urged to meet Dr. Calva and immediately became regular patients for years to come. I saw Dr. Israel Calva-Rosales for only a few sessions and my condition got drastically worse. I went from having minor discomfort in the lower back to severe shooting pain. My experience here is negative overall. 1. This place is very overbooked. I always had to wait a long time for my appointment and the waiting time is always longer than the appointment itself. The longest time I waited was close to an hour. 2. I always felt rushed in my appointments. Likely because they always had the next patients waiting even before my sessions were started. When confronted, Dr. Calva said they are not a message place so the sessions can be as short as they need to be. Of course I know this is not massage. With massage, I would at least feel better and be seen on time. 3. My shortest session was about 10 min. And in that, Dr. Calva spent about 5 min chatting, and another 3-4 min writing up orders for X ray. So basically he had no time working on me to relieve the pain he started in the previous session. If he knew he's going to order me X ray before further treatment, why should I come in for this completely useless session? Just to see him write up the X ray order? 4. In every session, Dr. Calva did the same routines regardless of my condition and even said the same words. After his adjustment, he always imply I should feel something different but I really don't. After a recent session, I had severe and sudden pain in the lower back that lasted for more than two weeks now. This is a lot worse than the symptoms I started with. And he just keep saying people sometimes just get worse before getting better. Yes I get that. But the thing is I'm not getting better. I don't think I will be going back here again. I fell a couple of years ago and have been experiencing extreme pain every since. I was going to a chiropractor in San Carlos for the past two years but never really recovered completely. I've gone to many chiros over the years and have had both good and not so good ones. Dr. Heer is definitely in my good list. Having to find a new chiro after a move is hard and can be stressful specially when you already have a good one at your old place. At the first visit, he took a good amount of time getting to know me, looked at my posture, walk, habits etc. He has a great touch that is very reassuring and healing. His manner, friendliness and professionalism are just the right balance for me, giving me a great feeling when I visit him and the effects of his adjustment. Meh. I called to get pricing before setting up an appointment. I have Kasier and they offer a 25% off rate rather than insurance coverage. For some reason, I was informed by the secretary, despite a $55 cash rate, the 25% off only applies to the "full" rate of $175. So if I use my insurance discount it would cost $131 and some change VS. $55 without an insurance discount? That's seems like some shady pricing. I would have become a customer with the 25% off the cash price, but instead I'll take my business elsewhere. Besides, who pays the "full" rate if they offer a cash rate and take insurance/copay's? How much do I love this guy? More than words can express!!! I've had major back problems over the years and I can not tell you how much Dr. Heer has been the light at the end of the tunnel! He is a great person, great personality, fun staff (May is a hoot!) and really knows what he is doing. That is why over the many years I've been seeing him on and off I've never minded driving all the way from San Francisco just to have one of his adjustments. I've been going to Dr. Heer ever since I moved to CA. He's in Foster City and I drive from San Jose to see him. He's personable, won't give you a diagnosis he can't back up, won't force you to come back if you don't really need it - but will make sure you know if *he* thinks you should come back. Even if you're going to him for a specific problem, he'll take the time to make sure the rest of your spine is in alignment before he lets you leave (which is fantastic for those of us who don't feel the minor pain in one spot if there is a major pain in another!) May is great, and while you have to listen through her thick accent she will do everything she can to get you the appointment, the paperwork, the sympathetic ear, or the muscle stim you need! read more

Love Love Love my Dr Heer. He takes his time during your appt to find the knots in your back and massages them out before he "cracks" you. This approach is so much better than those Chiropractors that just go at it as if they are competing for Olympic gold. (In, crack, pay, out) Dr Heer makes sure that you are without any pain before you leave his office by either using his actuator or asking you if you want some time with those eletrodes that massage your back into submission. read more

Dale cares about the whole person, and has a real calming affect just seeing him. Chiros can be scary sometimes, there are a lot of shady people in this type of medicine. The office manager, May, is a total hoot and awesome with my 4 year old. I was very pleased with the care I received. Dr. Heer was very much like my much missed chiropractors back in CT and Spokane. He's very hands on, no hoodoo-voodoo, and I left feeling better than when I came in. Which is always a good thing in my book. He doesn't pressure you to set up regular visits (unless you want to) because you know your body best and most can sense when an adjustment is needed. Dr. Heer is a really nice guy. Super friendly and patient. He will give you a back cracking and you will hear all sorts of bones crack that you never even knew existed. I still can't get used to it every time I come in for a visit, every three weeks. Great doctor and the receptionist May is off the hook funny. I like coming here since it only costs me $15 bucks a visit and I can visit up to 30 times a year. I was a bit skeptical about seeing a chiropractor, but my husband recommended trying him out, so I did and I made a good choice in doing so. Dr. Heer will find out what parts of your back hurts and locate those points, then crack where needed. He makes you feel comfortable and not scared which is great. Note: They have moved to the location on Marlin Street where the Ranch 99 supermarket is located. Better office space than their last spot, that's for sure. Enjoy your bone cracking days! read more

Dr. Heer is very personable. He doesn't try and push appointments on you either, he'll work with you to figure out how often you feel comfortable coming in for adjustments. He is very informative and will answer any questions if you have any. I don't have any major issues except I have back and shoulder pain occasionally. Dale Herr, DC is an excellent Chiropractor and I highly recommend him. Amy, a claim clerk at this office submitted a wrong billing code for my treatments. Consequently, my billing claims were denied despite of my insurance coverage of 30 visits to Chiropractic services. I have chronic pains in my neck, shoulder, and nerve compression and I visited many times to the Chiropractic office in the past. My insurance always paid for all my chiropractic treatments. It took me about 4 hours to straighten Amy's mistake with my insurance staff. Please confirm with the front desk and Amy about your coverage when you visit this office. read more

I've been an on-and-off patient of Dale's for about six years. I can't recommend him enough. I went to Dr. Heer after (unbeknownst to me) straining two of my discs just above my pelvis. Until that point, I was one of those people that told you Chiros were quacks, no matter what kinds of benefits you told me you gained from seeing one. But I made a promise to myself: If my my PCP told me "take these pills", I would go see a Chiro. And Dale came highly recommended by a friend. I hobbled into Dr. Heer's office not being able to stand up for more than fifteen minutes, and needing to spend much of my day on the garage floor because it was cool and flat. No way to go through life, unless you happen to be either a mechanic or drunk. Dale took one look at me and said "you are having lower back pain, huh?" I knew right away that my opinion of chiropractors was about to change. After a warm-up massage to my back, he gave me a manipulation, watched me walk, advised me on what I could do and what I shouldn't do until the next appointment, and set me loose. I walked out of his office with half as much pain as when I went in - that may not sound like much, but I was able to stand up straight, walk with moderate pain, and go back to work the next day. A huge improvement. Dale's program is exemplary: He treats your immediate problem and assists you at strengthening your spine or adjusting your environment to combat any ergonomic causes for your pain. He explains what's happened to you, what he's going to do to help you feel better, and why he does it. I have recommended Dr. Heer to three family members, and many people at work - five people on the same floor come to mind. And they have all had good things to say about Dr. Heer. I'v been to a ton of different chiropractors and Dr Heer is the absolute best! First off, he has the greatest personality and is so fun to chat with during our sessions. He spends about 15 minutes per session. He massages out your knots for almost 10 minutes before he does his adjustment. The woman who works the front desk, May, is also very nice and friendly. She has stayed in touch with me about any cancellations in order to squeeze me in last minute. Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza they are located in. Awesome Chiropractor! I moved to the bay area about 5 years ago. I was sad to leave my old chiropractor because he did great work and was so personable. I found someone in Santa Clara (where I lived for a while) and was not impressed. I don't like chiropractors who rely on lots of machinery to do their job. Doesn't give me much confidence in them when it comes time to adjust my neck! Anyway, upon moving up the peninsula, I found Dr. Heer. I was worried that I was going to wind up with another chiropractor that I didn't like. I was pleasantly surprised! He's just like my old doc. He does a lot of muscle work before the adjustment so not only is the adjustment smoother, but it has a better chance of holding. I was so worried when my company changed insurance providers from Aetna to Kaiser (with a chiropractic plan, luckily). I thought I'd have to find another doc that I liked. I have been going to Dr.Heer for a long time due to my playing sports and few other things. I have moved from Foster City 6 years ago 25 miles away and still goes to him for my chiropractic needs. Dr.Heer is wonderful and their front office is very good at accomodating you the earliest possible. Dr.Heer has the same front office (May) for as far as I know. Dr.Heer is very caring and he wants you to feel good and healthy as soon as possible. This review is long overdue. Dr. Heer is a wonderful chiropractor and an all around nice guy. I have always felt comfortable and cared for. I have seen other chiropractors over the years, but Dr. Heer is one of the best. I have back pain and neck pain from old car accident and sport injuries.
