(actually a rock in the summer would provide more warmth than this person). I experienced a horrific situation and explained that I needed to see a professional as soon as possible. I was blown off, discarded without an inkling of sympathy. All she could say was see your regular person, I don't have time in my schedule. Gee thanks! glad I was not suicidal and had my family next to me after her call.

The only exception is if the other parent is incarcerated or dead. It doesn't matter if one has full legal custody or not. This isn't my case but what if the other parent is abusive, addicted to drugs, MIA or not available to give consent? Well, you have to file an affidavit and await their board approval. This isn't court ordered therapy. I've had plenty of therapy for myself and my son and have never heard of such a ludicrous policy. In response to owner: The receptionist I spoke to said physical custody orders were irrelevant and didn't matter in the case of consent. Also, please tell me which law you're referring to as the laws were amended in 2021/2022. "In North Carolina, minors have the legal capacity to consent to receiving certain health services without the concurrent consent of a parent, guardian, or person standing in loco parentis. This authority is derived from G.S. 90-21.5, which is often referred to as "North Carolina's minor's consent law." North Carolina is not unique in allowing minors to access specific health services on their own consent. All 50 states and the District of Columbia permit minors to consent to health services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and numerous states allow certain minors to consent to other health services such as immunizations, dental care, contraceptives, prenatal care, substance use treatment, and MENTAL HEALTH CARE."

Billing refused to call me back and actually said in an email "I'm not in a place to call you". They incorrectly billed a claim and tried to blame the patient. Seek services elsewhere. I'm now out of $170 and will likely need to go to small claims court to try to get funds back.
