This company has taken me for $8500. Company closed without any work done or a refund. I've contacted customer service several times as well as the sales associates that I worked with no satisfactory response. They weren't willing to provide the owner's contact information. No ethics, no integrity. They have the money of so many customers. Company requested and received full payment for a set of kitchen cabinets. I'd worked with them before on a different project and had no reason not to trust them. Two days after we paid they closed their doors, no contact, workers left standing at the locked door and empty building. Owner is David Earl Sizemore of Gig Harbor. Founders Choice is a Shady business by my opinion. Beware!!! Condescending staff criticizing my use of Visio to provide initial measurements of my small kitchen remodel after a dishwasher leak destroyed my kitchen. They are by appointment only to visit show room, and they require a $500.00 design deposit on receipt of copies of designs. They have a 7-9 week lead time after ordering cabinets. We wrote a check for design deposit as we need our kitchen operational ASAP. We have never received a copy of design and they would only show it to us on a tv screen in the show room. They provided a quote and said someone would contact us within a day to come do final measurements. They are more than double the price of multiple other similar businesses in the region for similar products and quoted us just over $33,000 for our small galley style kitchen. After the weekend and 2 business days of not hearing from anyone to schedule to come measure and us still not receiving copies of the design we emailed to say we would not be working with them. They immediately cashed the check for the design deposit without providing copies of design which was what they told us the deposit was for in the first place in case we wanted to take the design somewhere else. Our soft close drawers are constantly breaking. The paint is always chipping and rubbing off. They repainted some of them at 2 yr mark but within 6 mo it was already chipping and rubbing off. They gave us touch up pens however the colors don't match and it looks horrible. For the amt of money we paid the quality is not there read more

I recently had Founders Choice build and install cabinets in my kitchen. I had been on the phone recently to have them build me another cabinet for my laundry room with plans to go in and talk to them this week about this cabinet. I noticed last night that one of my kitchen cabinets needs a hinge adjustment. I called and left message to only recieve an email back saying Founders Choice is no longer in business as of March 7th, 2024. So I have no one to adjust the hinges and the Lifetime Warranty for my kitchen cabinets is null and void. read more

We worked together to replace my kitchen cabinets. I wanted to get all wood cabinets (no MDF) even though I had a tight remodel budget, and loved the idea of working with a local cabinet builder. Now the cabinets are in, and they're absolutely beautiful, well-made, with soft close doors and drawers- I feel like I've not only improved the aesthetics of my kitchen, but have made a real investment in the home by getting quality cabinets that will last. There was an issue with the measurements on one drawer set being too long, but the company was responsive and re-made the drawer set to the right size. I'm so happy with my kitchen now. The worst experience we had with a sub-contractor as part of an entire down-to-the-studs house remodel (we worked with a total of 20+ subs). Should have seen the signs early in March when our designer was late to our first meeting (she blamed the "system") followed by a scattered design approach where details were overlooked and design reviews were done while we sat by her computer as she read through our emails from two weeks prior. Defensive. Always an excuse for the process. Then, when our cabinets were delivered for installation in July, upper cabinets had been mis-measured by more than 3" (despite their "technical measure" expert's visit in his snazzy Founder's Choice Technical Measure car). Large gaps were left our microwave oven and dishwasher drawer, despite them having all appliance specs since March 2022. One of three refrigerator panels weren't ordered, but not caught until appliance installation occurred (three weeks after part of the kitchen cabinets were installed. Finish on all the stained cabinets failed, though when we brought this to their attention we were told to "just clean them again." Three months after the ongoing installation process, they asked us to remove everything from the cabinets so they could take off all the cabinet doors and return them to the shop for respraying. Then, to respray the cabinets that remained in place, they came out, tented the entire kitchen, ran air-circulation vents to remove fumes and told us "not to use the stove for 48 hours (this after limping along with partially completed kitchen cabinets for the better part of three months). Double drawers were made where single drawers were specc'd and that we'd signed off on (we have the drawings), so drawers were remade. A run of cabinets on the stove wall was made 2" shorter than approved drawings, leaving us with an awkward gap at the end of the run. The range hood was made without consideration for the thickness of the backsplash, so when the stove vent was installed, the appliance installer had to rip through the back wall of the hood cabinet to be able to install the vent (FC had the range hood specs since March 2022). Drawers that were supposed to have finger pulls did not have them; rollout drawers wasted tons of space when standard drawers could have been specc'd (we wonder if FC makes more money on roll-out drawers behind cabinet doors); appliance installer had to come back out to the house to remove the refrigerator panel so that FC could respray it to fix the finish (he will come out again to reinstall the panel, which FC has agreed to pay for by "deducting $150 from our final bill." There are more problems that we could list but suffice it to say, this company is a disaster (and we have remodeled five major kitchens previously, so we know what to expect.). After being reassured for more than three months that "the owners are fully aware of the problems and are working to rectify the situation," I finally spoke with the owner, David, on October 14, 2022. He told me that "he was made aware of the situation yesterday (October 13, 2022) and was only aware of a finish problem that "they were taking care of." I told him that I was surprised that he had not been made aware of all the problems that we had had starting in July. When I asked him if he'd like me to send him a list of everything so that he could understand what we had been through, he said, "Well, only if it would make you happy." When he asked me what would make me happy, I said that we would like to pay 80% down for three additional cabinets to be made, and then pay 20% at the completion of installation. (Some people might say, "why would you even continue to work with FC if your experience was so bad, but we needed addition upper cabinets built to complete the kitchen.). He said "our policy is 100% payment to start the job." When I asked for the 80/20 concession, he said, "let's just get the final cabinet finish fixed and then we are done working with you." His comments were snide, dismissive and totally unapologetic for this drawn-out process. Along the way, employees complained to us about the management (our designer said that her boss wasn't up-to-date on the type of wood that should be offered to customers for cabinets and pulled us into another room out of earshot of the manager to tell us ) and another employee said that "the bad experiences that we were having during the process were not unusual from other jobs that he'd seen done by FC." Look elsewhere for cabinets. We started this process in March 2022, paid for and had approved drawings the end of April 2022 and it's October 14, 2022, and we still don't have a completed kitchen. read more

I was quoted $4000-6000 consistently at five other businesses for the same small residential kitchen cabinet measurements. Founds Choice quoted $26,000: Same layout, same style, same soft-close doors/hinges, same six-way adjustable hinges, same plywood and I-Beam construction and warranty. Maybe they get plenty of attraction right next to Home Depot and the Dump. I understand some price difference but twenty thousand-dollar difference seems odd. read more

I previously had a bad review for founders choice due to misinformation one of their employees gave me, their manager Rhonda reached out to me after I left my review and helped me get all my cabinets ordered and my design perfected after going through one of their retailers and having a bad experience. I am so impressed by their customer service and punctuality, I'm very glad I went through founders choice! The quality is top notch for a great price! I will definitely be using them again if I need to order cabinets in the future. read more
