4.5 stars. I'm amazed at the incredible thought and meticulous detail the developers took to execute such an incredible anchor to the revamped Gas Lamp District of downtown Cambridge. So many details of this once thriving textile manufacturing mill have been preserved while allowing for a modernized, elegant, and enticing dining experience. There's a rich history worth discovering here. The ambience is bright and airy yet perfect for special occasions and date nights. Take a moment to be curious about the surroundings and their rich history and marvel at the historic pictures that gracefully adorn every wall. The outdoor seating is expansive and perfect for the warm weather months. Menu contains a wide variety of shareable small plates, nibbles, large plates, and sandwiches. If you find yourself dining between 3pm - 4pm, you'll only be offered the limited late night menu while the kitchen turns for dinner service. We got a few items from the small bite menu to start including short rib bonbons and the soup of the day which was homemade chicken noodle. All I can say is this isn't amateur hour at the Foundry. The short rib bonbons consist of tender braised flavorful shredded short rib meat gently coated and fried GB&D in a delicate tempura coating. Served with a beer mustard and ponzu dipping sauce. An absolute flavor bomb I consider a signature must have on every visit. The chicken noodle soup just blew me away. To just call it homemade from scratch doesn't do it justice. It's everything you want your soup to be when making it at home, but would spend years perfecting it to this degree. These two dishes will not soon be forgotten. The local beetroot salad was one of the freshest and inspired beet salads I've had in a long time. Served with pumpkin seed tahini and goat cheese puree. Excellent. Entrees were very impressive. Roasted steelhead trout with smoked fingerlings and citrus beurre blanc was executed to perfection. Every detail was right from the expertly crisped skin to the hint of roe that adorned the top like a crown jewel. Savored every bite and was reluctant to share! The linguini aglio e olio was an interesting spin on an Italian classic. With green garlic, cured tomato, and Italian olive pesto. Excellent. The Foundry fish & chips was an excellent choice as well. Line caught cod lightly battered with creamy slaw, charred lemon, and tavern fries. The full service bar has some interesting finds as well including some classics like the Paper Plane and Dark and Stormy cocktail. Can't decide? Get a sample flight adventure choice of three for $16. Not of age? The Zero Proof section has some unique offerings. My niece loved the hibiscus chill. Service and staff are professional and friendly and our waitress Monica was outstanding. If my next visit shows the same level of consistency and execution, I'll upgrade to 5 star. read more

I arrived at 11 pm on a Friday night. They directed us to the bar. Fine. They took our drinks order and brought them in reasonable time. We inquired about food but only after they brought our drinks did they telling the kitchen was closed. Not a big issue but we would have liked even some bar food. Would have been nice if they'd told us when we sat down. Then, considering there is no food and only drinks, it was impossible for us to talk because the music was as loud as a disco dance floor. I'm used to loud music but we couldn't even talk at our table. Don't know what they're thinking. I will avoid this place in the future. read more

The hostess was very rude and inconsiderate to a disabled 90 plus year old person. Refused to give us a table close to the door, instead sat in the middle of the restaurant on a stupid bench The appetizer we wanted to order they were sold out of. So we decided to try the steak tar tar, it was the worse we have ever tried. The salmon was delicious. Then they sent out a burnt creme Brule which you had to get a magnifying glass to find the custard. Since our visit I have tried to call the manager Joey. However after 30 attempts to get a live person we are going to thrown in the towel. The voice mail is full. The one time I finally got a live person on the phone they put me on hold for 15 minutes and never came back to the phone. Totally unacceptable customer service. We were in Cambridge for work and decided to pop by for dinner! The outside seems to be still under construction (I hear they're building a fine dining restaurant called Bellflower!). The atmosphere was lovely, I had no expectations for this place and I was pleasantly surprised. It's quite big inside, plenty of seating but we came when it just opened for the day on a Monday so it was a lil empty. I heard it gets super busy and crowded over the weekends, so make sure to make a reservation if you're planning to go then. We weren't too hungry so we ordered 2 apps and 1 main: the daily bellflower soup, the composed heirloom carrot salad and the pasture raised lamb. The soup of the day was a cauliflower and roasted garlic soup, very creamy and quite heavy but yummy! I was absolutely OBSESSED with the carrot salad. It was perfectly seasoned and the chimichuri vinaigrette was SO GOOD and refreshing. I would come back just for the salad. We got the lamb for our main and it was so so tender, the meat fell right off the bone! we finished each and every plate. We skipped on dessert but my partner got some coffee as we needed to make the drive back to Toronto. It was around 60$ for the two of us, but we also ate on the lighter side. 2 months ago 15 seniors from Hamilton made reservations for Sunday Brunch for 12:30 on June 16th. We were very much looking forward to it. I received an email this past week confirming our reservation that stated that there had been some changes with brunch. No other explanation. I tried to phone numerous times to find out about the changes. No one ever answered the phone. Today I left 2 messages but still received no response. I finally called again and spoke to a young lady who said that instead of $21.00 for seniors for brunch the price was $40.00 with a 15% discount. Quite a substantial change. I told her that was not acceptable and I would get back to her. After speaking to my friends we decided to cancel our reservation. I called to cancel but as usual no one answered the phone. The link on their website for brunch was gone. I could not get any information there. Unfortunately if we had shown up expecting to pay $21.00 there would have been a big problem. I am totally disappointed with their lack of consideration and cutomer service. That is no way to run a business. They obviously do not care about what their customers think. On Sunday, September 3, 2023, my family and I had the complete displeasure of dining at this establishment. We were seated and then proceeded to be completely ignored for 20 minutes. My husband then approached a young lady who was bussing tables to ask if there was a server assigned to our table. The young lady was able to locate a server who came to take our order. The server mentioned that she was covering for her colleague, Che, and would take our orders on his behalf. Che then approached our table and said he "was very busy and his colleague would bring us our drinks, but he would serve our meals". We did not receive our drinks. Our entrees were served by another staff member and my husband did not receive what he ordered. As the staff member was bringing my husband's dinner back to the kitchen, my husband inquired about the status of our drink order. The staff member said "I am sure they are on the way." I was half way through my meal when my husband got up from the table to venture to the bar to ask for an update on our drinks himself. He noticed them sitting at the bar and asked if he could bring them to our table. Yet another staff member said they would grab a tray to bring our drinks. When the staff member arrived with our drinks, those of us who had our meals were three quarters of the way through. My husband's correct meal still had not arrived. The staff member went to check on the meal and only then was his meal brought to our table. We did not see Che again until the end of our meal when we asked for the bill. We also noticed the table seated next to us was ignored for just as long as we were. I have never experienced such horrible service at a restaurant and will never return to this establishment. read more
