Great vibe. Good food. Terrible pricing. Before trying this new location, I dined at the old electric diner twice on George street - same thing. Immaculate vibe, but the food was always just ok, and I remembered it was always expensive. This time I got the chicken waffle. It's a sweet waffle topped with one fried chicken thigh & sweet tangy gochujang and a fried egg. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I wouldn't say it was a big portion like what you'd get from a traditional diner place. It was 24 dollars - so over 30 dollars after tax and tips. It's kinda wild just to think about it... My partner got the Electric Benny - same thing, it was a lot pricier than other diners with the same amount of food. I think 25 dollars for 2 eggs, a slice of fried French toast and some avocado & home fries was pricy. In addition, she got drip coffee on the side which was almost like 6 dollars after tax - that's a crazy price for diner drip coffee. Her basic, mid diner breakfast meal with a moderate portion size came down to almost 35 dollars. To me that's unacceptable. The service was fine. But yeah, I hope electric diner can adjust the pricing in some way...last time I checked, people in Hamilton were not millionaires. read more

Can't possibly understand why this place has a low rating. The food was fantastic. I came here on Father's Day, party of two. We were seated within 5 to 7 minutes. They have a pretty great cocktail menu with unique drinks for a diner. I got this one blue cocktail that had a piece of cotton candy on top of it, that's usually reserved for unique cocktail bars. They did a great job with its. The food was also fantastic. I took a risk and ordered the chicken and waffles and thankfully I was not disappointed. It was a substantial size of chicken and waffle. Love this place. It got that Ins-pink vibe with a creative menu. By the time we visited they were promoting the seasonal breakfast item - Pumpkin Pancakes. 3 fluffy pancakes drizzled with salted caramel cheese icing, candied pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips. A perfect warm and cozy start to the fall weekend. The Turtle Power Bowl salad I had was great too. My friends ordered burgers and loved them. Definitely recommend this place for brunch in Hamilton. Ordered the Turtle Power Bowl. It was utterly delicious but contained a comically small amount of food. There were. like. three brussel sprouts. there was a sprinkling of lettuce, as if it was roleplaying as a garnish. i had assumed the quinoa would make up for it, but rather than acting as a base it sat sequestered off to the side as a dainty roadside attraction. twenty dollars well spent. but hey, the coffee could've been colder. read more

Came in for a late dinner around 9:00 pm and was seated right away. Atmosphere was fun, neon lights, disco ball, 80's diner feel with music videos playing on big screen and a live DJ playing the tracks. Waited quite a while before our server came by to take our drink order but she did apologize. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was OK, chicken was a little dry and didn't have any spice. I upgraded to poutine fries and they were delicious. My husband had the Thai chicken sandwich which he enjoyed and my daughter had Dino nuggets with fries... she ate them all plus her ice cream with sprinkles for dessert. Amazing food and service! We ordered the cauliflower cake bennies and the feature pancakes- both were delicious. Though the pancakes came with lots of sauce it was surprisingly not too sweet! The only imperfection was the cocktail which was unfortunately a bit bland. This restaurant enforced safely measures very diligently so it was reassuring. I've been here several times, but today will be my last. Their service has always been hit or miss but today takes the cake. The service was horrendous. We were there for two hours and ordered one drink, breakfast and dessert. Someone came to apologize to us and explained they had a last minute take out order from a production company for 20 people. Well if that's the case don't take the order and prioritize your customers who came in or advise your customers it's going to be a wait. We sat there with nothing but water for like 40 minutes. The waitress then offered us a free dessert. So we thought, Ok maybe things will get better from here... no. It took forever for the waitress to come back to get our dessert order and way too long to get the dessert. We should have just left. Then, I didn't notice until after, but they charged us for the dessert. Unbelievable and never again. read more

A true hidden gem among all the bars and restaurants along Hess Street. Having seen this establishment and its iconic take on diner aesthetic on social media, I was apprehensive that perhaps the appearance was a gimmick to mask possibly substandard food. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing our meal was from start to end. We were seated on the heated patio, which was not superheated. We were pleasantly greeted by the super friendly waiters, who were very attentive throughout the evening. We started off with some warm drinks to heat up, which were amazing. I had the smores themed alcoholic beverage which was presented super well with two big marshmallows and a tall mountain of whipped cream on top of a not-too-sweet hot chocolate that masked As for the entrees - super underrated. For a steep $16-$18 per sandwich, I did have high standards which were met! The portions are pretty big, and the fries are truly stellar in terms of texture and taste. I had the Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich which wasn't at all spicy but had amazing flavour and fried breading nonetheless. I thought the sandwich had a great bread to chicken ratio; not an overwhelming amount of bread, and there was sufficient chicken for each bite. As well, we had ordered the cauliflower croquettes as a side, which weren't overly fried or oily, and had great seasoning on them - plus the pickled topping went super well with all the flavours. Such a cute and Instagram-able diner both interior and exterior! A great spot for brunch with the girls, date or bring the family. The food itself was good but nothing overly special. Absolutely in love with this restaurant!! The servers were really nice and helpful, and the food was DELICIOUS. Especially the fries, oh my god they were so good. The decor is adorable as well, with 80s-themed antiques, colours, and signs. Will definitely be returning soon! Checked out Electric Diner for the first time today with family and friends and here is what I found: 1) Customer Service was great, until it wasn't! 2) Was told that we only had 90 minutes to eat before the next group was coming in for their reservation (When I had a reservation booked at the UPSCALE LOUIX LOUIS in the St. Regis Hotel, I had to wait an additional 30-45 minutes and ended up in a secluded area just so they didn't disappoint; but with that came free champagne and other things); but at here at Electric Diner, we were told we would be asked to leave at 6:00 PM!!!! 3) The festive Milkshake (St. Patty's Day) was Lucky Charms themed, that just tasted like cereal milk 4) I was not asked whether I wanted fries or salad with my order and ended up with fries when I would have liked salad; but I was accommodated 5) I will say my order of the Philly Kim-Chi Steak Sando was fantastic! read more

Luckily we were not in a rush but this is the first diner I've been too that took over an hour to serve poached eggs. We were a party of 4 in town to see a concert with time to kill. Reviews looked promising and it was very close to our hotel. Neighborhood and restaurant look cute so again we had high hopes. Service was slow from the start but the delay from ordering food to its arrival was insane. Unfortunately by the time it arrived it was cold but we were all so hungry and disheartened we didn't complain. Food taste was good but for those of us who don't love cold food it really just felt like eating for hunger versus for enjoyment. We were offered a small discount of about 5% off for the delays. Maybe I should have spoken up and complained or asked for more of a discount because I might not be as upset. Perhaps it was just a bad night but I would suggest going someplace else. read more

Food was great, I had the Reuben burger and my partner had the fried chicken sandwich. What stopped me from giving more stars was the service. Absolutely terrible. Waitress was so rude! She had a miserable look on her face which was apparent even through her mask. I understand serving jobs have been made even more difficult in the present situation to which I'm completely sympathetic - but this was beyond.
