PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY!!!…read more I work near this facility and personally know several seniors who live here. Based on direct knowledge and firsthand accounts, I have serious concerns about how residents are being treated. One resident I know personally was not properly cared for after a fall. After that incident, she was reportedly not assisted with meals or monitored to ensure she ate for three days. Her room has flooded twice, and because of how often this happens, it reportedly smells of mold, which raises serious health concerns. After the second flood, she was abruptly dismissed from her room so it could be cleaned and was not allowed to gather her phone, shoes, or any personal belongings. She was sent out in the middle of December wearing only sandals and no sweater. This showed a complete lack of concern for her safety, comfort, or dignity. What is most disturbing is the lack of empathy. This is a facility entrusted with the care of vulnerable seniors, yet the focus appears to be convenience and profit rather than basic human compassion. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY!!!! Please choose another place. No one's loved one deserves to be treated this way.

The staff here is amazing, they don't just do their jobs (and they do them well) they are all very kind, supportive and loving toward her. This is a woman who would not leave her apartment, slept until noon, getting her to get dressed was a big task but her nature is social. She was famous in her youth and a singer / dancer. I could not believe that she was up and out of her room (DRESSED) by 8am and didn't return until after 5PM on day 2. EVERY SINGLE DAY she is kept active, she's singing with the pianist, playing bingo, watching movies, doing arts and crafts AND they told me she was participating in the morning walk! One of the ladies there sent me a video of her singing with the pianist today - she is in her element. Her Doctor comes to her every month (more if she needed him). I was weary that they would not be able to get her out of her room and get her dressed. AvantGarde has surpassed my expectations. I can travel without worry, I can visit her without me being the caretaker, I can rest easy knowing she is having a great time and in loving, capable hands.

We used a placement service that identified JH for us. We had several tours of other homes that were all in the same Valley area, and all around the same cost. What immediately stood out were the owners and the team on site. All friendly, caring, truly kind people. Andrei, who gave us our tour, was friendly, so knowledgeable and totally honest. He even brought up previous ownership issues the facility had faced and other issues that as a business owner, he had learned through and made specific improvements to address any issues. The care team that is on site is just amazing. They cook all meals in the kitchens right there so you know your family member will be getting home cooked meals that are nutritious and delicious (do NOT visit during meal prep time or you WILL want a plate!) These ladies bring a smile to Mom's face when they engage and I can tell just how much Mom has enjoyed getting to know them. The facility is also lovely. There is ample space with really nicely sized private rooms and bathrooms. The homes are in lovely garden surroundings and I'm pretty sure Jackie's Hideaway has turned my Mom into a bird watcher!!! While touring facilities in searching for a spot, Jackie's Hideaway was the only location that didn't focus on the glitz and window dressing of the facility. At one spot, the owner only focused on how expensive all of the decor was and how my Mom would be surrounded with luxury. I needed my mom to be surrounded by care and people who were going to be there to help her and not let her worry for a single thing. My mom chooses to hang in her room, but other residents are usually in the TV room or enjoying the garden when it isn't too hot outside. This freedom to do what makes you most happy...as odd as it sounds...is a big plus in these types of facilities. Many spots do what is most convenient for the staff...NOT for the residents. Jackie's Hideaway does not take that route. We are SO thankful we found Jackie's Hideaway and know that their care has lifted anxiety and worry from Mom...and from us. We hope to be a long-term success story!!!

It's not something I take lightly, and there are a lot of emotions and decisions involved. From the very first phone call, Gabriel showed a level of care and patience that I honestly had never experienced over the phone before especially before even visiting the facility. He answered all of my questions, and what really stood out was that he also asked thoughtful questions to better understand our situation. He helped turn what was a very stressful moment into something that felt calm, manageable, and reassuring. Because of that conversation, I already felt confident that my father would be in the right place. When I actually toured the facility, I was pleasantly surprised. It is very clean, very well kept, and you can tell there is real attention to detail. Most importantly, I truly appreciated how much care and compassion the nurses showed toward my father. That meant a lot to me and my family during such a difficult time. Gabriel, truly thank you. I couldn't have navigated this without your guidance and care. I can confidently say that if I or anyone in my family ever needs help with something like this again, you will absolutely be the person we call.

They are completely able list the cleaning woman who was to clean my mom or any patient that needed cleaning of their body or problems asked for money on the side and left my mom soiled for hours. The doctor from the facility did not show up for 12 days and did not even do an intake on my mom nor evaluate any medicine she was on. When my mom asked for someone to lift her up, a woman rudely told her no and through the remote that controls the height of the bed at her. Except for a few guardian angels that work at this place this is a bad institution that should immediately be shut down and investigated. I have zero faith in this institution in one day of my mom being released to the ICU hospital. She has a Will to live. She can talk normally she's not as sick and she feels better. Simply put an avoid this place by any means, and I would consider shutting the whole thing down. another issue was when attempting to get discharged from the facility due to the inhumane conditions and inhabitable conditions they would fight against me trying to keep my mom for extra days. The woman from social services on the phone told me that my mother did not want to go to the hospital, which was a lie. They refused to call 911 when my mom needed it and upon my arrival and calling 911 the paramedics immediately valued her evaluated her and said she needed to be in a hospital setting immediately and that I should report this place. They'll put you on the phone with Gabriel, they're fancy Schmanski business developer. I don't care about a business developer. How about a quality of life. Big ups go to the nurse that helped my mom escape this place and helped me because otherwise I would not know how we could've gotten her out of here short of escaping. They don't brush the patients who cannot brush their hair. Your loved one will have dreadlocks potentially and you better. Hope that you get a good nurse because if you don't, this might be your last place of life. Do not go to Tarzana health and rehab center and if management is reading this, you should be ashamed of yourself.

We spent a long time searching for the right senior living community, and nothing ever felt quite right... until we found Ivy Park at Woodland Hills. From the moment I pulled up, I had a feeling. The landscaping is beautiful, the property is immaculate, and before I even walked inside, it already felt like home for my mom. I actually walked in unannounced and happened to meet Elizabeth Zaharian, the Regional Sales Specialist, who was there that day. She graciously took the time to show me around without an appointment. I saw two units that were clean, beautiful, and clearly well cared for. I was so impressed that I immediately drove to Thousand Oaks, picked up my mom from her previous community (which we were not happy with), and brought her back that same day. After one tour, we both knew this was it. Since then, everything has only reinforced that decision. The team is incredibly responsive texts, calls, emails are all handled quickly and professionally. Jennifer Smith helped us get settled and personally delivered a welcome amenity to my mom's room, even giving us her personal cell number in case we needed anything. The community itself feels almost brand new furniture, finishes, landscaping, everything is maintained at a very high level. It genuinely feels more like a luxury property than a typical senior living community. What surprised me the most and where most places fall short is the food. I've been in the restaurant business for over 30 years, so I don't say this lightly: the food here is excellent. Not "good for senior living" actually excellent. The ingredients, presentation, and flavor are all there. We've had multiple meals now, and every one has been impressive. Whoever is running that kitchen is a real chef not a glorified cook. Another thing that stood out is the leadership. The Executive Director, Lilit Mnatsakanyan, is clearly very hands-on. We saw her walking the dining room during both lunch and dinner, checking in with residents. We invited her to sit down with us for about 20 minutes after dinner. She's warm, present, and genuinely cares. You can tell this place runs well from the top down. The service overall is warm and personal. Staff remembered my name, and residents went out of their way to welcome my mom on her very first day. People seem genuinely happy here, which says a lot. We've seen several other communities, and I can say without hesitation this one stands above the rest. For what they offer, the value is actually surprising. Honestly, they could charge more. If you're looking for a place for a parent or loved one, don't overthink it. Go see it. Once you experience it, you'll understand. And this may sound crazy, but I'll say it anyway if I were looking for a place myself, I would absolutely consider living here. That's how wonderful it is.

It 'takes a village' to meet the many needs of loved ones facing social isolation and challenges around daily personal care and I have found that village in the supportive community at Savant Woodland Hills. Among the 18 memory care facilities I contacted in greater Los Angeles, Savant's dual commitment to both quality care and affordability was unmatched. From the first introductory meeting to my brother's move-in five weeks later, senior staff member Jeanette Hernandez provided kind and expert assistance at every stage. Six weeks have passed since my brother moved in and he is visibly more cheerful, peaceful, conversational and actively engaged with his world than he has been in months. And I am more relaxed, secure in the knowledge that he feels at home and safe in the midst of such a caring and supportive community and is receiving the 24/7 monitoring needed at this stage of his life. Moving our mom from her home in Northern California after retirement to a place close to us, her children, was a dream. Quite frankly we had been planning to have mom move into our home. Ater interviewing friends and extensive research, we considered looking for a retirement community where mom could be surrounded with a cross section of community that truly had commonality. After all mom is active and enjoys daily interaction, stimulating challenges, going to events, and of course people of all ages. Did I mention having fun and activities. Ideal isn't always ideal This was a very difficult decision but our primary driver was mom's welfare, quality of life, enjoyment, and care. This approach was our guiding principle. Aging-in place We realized that mom is independent today and as we would want to fill her days with every opportunity, we would definitely try. When it came to helping mom, in the event of her needing care, though that may be years from now, we would need help. We also were not home 7/24. Mitch, that masked man (Covid mask), with a kind demeanor and great heart, shared the concept of having all the facilities and care in a dial-up or dial-down option, should mom ever need it. And did I mention the beautiful community filled with wonderful residents who have multiple activities a day... ok, this was hard to believe. I've quickly learned to be a believer. I was clearly on a quest to find the best for mom, focusing on her independent nature and flexible life style. Fast forward to researching 37 establishments including multiple Brookdale communities, Aria, Sunrise... we decided on three finalists, two Brookdale and another. Yes, by now you guessed it Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana became my decision and I met with the family, on both coasts, to share my findings. Your community has many offerings that we considered, cleanliness, beautiful and spacious environment, caring and seemingly nice residents, great meal options, great services, great age-in-place options, and more. There was a very clear differentiator, you and your team. It's been almost two months since we met Mitch and your staff and mom moved in March to her beautiful new home at Brookdale. Which by the way, Ethan ensured everything was beautiful and operational. He also installed a TV, electronics, power, drapes...he's a one man construction force. Simi, I, and the entire family are very impressed at the beautiful and caring community you attract and nurture. We humbly thank you for making mom and all the residents so welcome and comfortable. Warmest Regards, VJ Singh and family
