We tried Four Daughter's tonight after a recommendation from a friend. I wouldn't go back. When we walked in we got in line to get a table. The host at the host stand seated the two ladies in front of us (though he looked lost). As he was working on seating them, a second host slowly walked up to the stand while looking at the iPad (I assume with the seating chart), set it down, didn't acknowledge us and then walked away. When the first host returned, he refused to make eye contact and I had to call to his attention that we were standing in front of him. I asked about patio seating and he said there wasn't anything available. I told him we'd be willing to wait and asked him how long he thought it would be. He said he had no idea (we were the first people on his written waitlist). After waiting outside for 40 min, hubby went back in to inquire about the wait time. They still had no idea. We were seated around 15-20 min later. Food: Smoked trout dip--the dip is delicious and creamy. Pita chips were ok. Guacamole--not good. It had no flavor and the tortilla chips were stale. Sausage and peppadew pizza--by far the best dish of the night! Lots of flavor! Wait service--very, very slow. I'm sure it doesn't help that they don't have a dedicated patio server. Each server takes tables inside and outside. Wine, loon juice--I had the red wine flight. There were two that I thought were quite good but the rest were average. And they ruined the Pinot Noir by making it sweet. Hubby had the loon juice flight. They were all pretty similar except for the strawberry and the mint. Overall--I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't go back. read more

What a great place! The food was fantastic from the pizza to the charcuterie boards to the salad. We loved them all, even my picky 97 year old Dad liked it. Disappointed Bride We had a small wedding on 09-20-2020. Initially, the process was wonderful and Justine, the wedding coordinator was fabulous. It wasn't until the day of the wedding that the problems unfolded. When my parents arrived to the Four Daughters ahead of myself and soon to be husband, they were notified the wedding coordinator was ill and left a note for the staff. Here's a copy of the email that I sent to Justine Vogt, the wedding coordinator and also one of the four daughters: Hi Justine, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and don't have covid 19. I understand that illness can't be planned for, especially during this pandemic. I just wanted to let you know a few things regarding our experience at our wedding. While the staff did a great job trying to pull it off, there were quite a few issues that I'd like you to be made aware of: 1. I was not contacted and informed that you were ill. This was haphazardly found out when my Mom arrived ahead of us and asked for you. That disappointed me quite a bit that I wasn't notified and I found it unprofessional. 2. The beverage stations were not set up at the ceremony site, the sand ceremony supplies were not put out on the barrel by the arch or the galvanized steel buckets with flowers as we had discussed...I had to quickly tell my mom via phone what to do. Her and my step dad ran around trying to set things up as you and I had discussed the previous week. 3. The runner was not put out per my request...given that it was windy, I'm ok with this, but just another example. 4. The speaker for the ceremony was not put out and was a last minute detail that had everyone scrambling and stressed out. 5. My niece had a dead fly in her salad and dried/caked on pink lipstick on her water glass. The poor kid didn't eat much after that due to being grossed out. All the water glasses were dirty with heavy water spots as well! Totally gross, especially during a pandemic. 6. My entree and my husband's entree were cold, but the food still tasted great...just wish it wasn't cold. 7. The sign for the sangria wasn't posted for families to help themselves to a bottle from the bride and groom. 8. The lemonade and ice water were set up inside and I don't believe anyone touched them due to having other options...these were supposed to be set up at the ceremony site. While we made the best of things, I was truly disappointed that my parents had to run around arranging/fixing things as I wanted them. I wanted them to be the 'parents only' at my wedding and not have any added stress. This was the main reason we chose your venue and not to do a backyard wedding at our home. I don't mean for this to sound like it was all totally awful or negative, but there were a lot of key things that weren't executed and for what we paid, I feel a bit cheated in that regard. We planned to book a reception only event at your venue after covid, but have since changed our minds. Sadly, I will have a tough time recommending your venue to others after our experience. Thank you for your time, A disappointed bride We have not received a response or apology and no response is a response in my book. We paid $3500 plus at this venue for a total guest number of 18 people. Save your money and go somewhere where you'll be treated like a priority regardless of wedding size. A fun experience with great wine, amazing food and sinfully delicious desserts. I came here with a large group and we shared many plates. All of which were great! My favorite small plates were the fried provolone cheese and the shrimp. I ordered the red wine flight which was a lot of fun. My favorite was the Itbrdx. It is an Italian Bordeaux, wrap your head around that one.... For dinner I ordered the Asparagus flat bread. It was decent, but nothing too special. We shared a bunch of desserts. My favorite was the Twix Brulee, but the oreo cheesecake also earned a lot of points in my book. The venue was gorgeous and the service was good. Definitely a place worth checking out! read more

The only thing I would dock points on would be that even though the wedding was an open bar, the bartenders still charged the guests for their drinks which is not cool. We visited this winery on July 9th. I prefer to Yelp positive experiences but after several days of waiting to write this review, I still feel the need to comment on the *toxic* behavior from our server here. This woman was so appallingly rude, mean, and downright hurtful that we felt completely blindsided. I understand that sometimes people are just having a bad day, but sometimes they're also just nasty human beings. This woman was repeatedly and blatantly mean and disrespectful without any provocation at all. This is what management at Four Daughters has chosen to represent their business. Had a gathering here as it was the middle ground for several of us and who doesn't like a winery. Plus we were teams in a grape stomping competition! Came a little early and enjoyed some food and some wine. We tried the red, white, special, and loon juice flights and were glad we did but wouldn't likely do it again. It started off with a rough start when our white wine flight came out rose as two of the glasses appeared a bit dirty with red wine drops on the stem and apparently they were not cleaned between uses. The server made a joking comment about it which made it worse as if that was okay. No telling where that glass had been or who handled it since it was handled last. Sitting on the patio though, the wind took mercy on us when it decided to spill one of the dirty 1 ounce glasses over. We told our server and she never offered to replace it. Unfortunately, all of their wines were sweet to the point they were all almost a dessert wine. I typically prefer reds but ended up liking their driest white, "Aphrogrisiac" of them all. It was the only one that wasn't overly sweet. Having just moved to the area from Oregon, I don't know if it may have to due with the cold climate but it isn't often that you try a dozen different wines and not really anything. The charcuterie board was pretty good, though they used a candied nut and a cranberry jam, which when combined with the dessert wines led to an overly sweet day. It could have used some mustard and a fresh vegetable. Would recommend the mozzarella appetizer as well. The burger was done well and the nachos were just as described. Kettle chips with sloppy joe meat on them. A couple bites were interesting but then it was a soggy mess on top of chips. For a $200+ bill for 6 people, I didn't split the bill up to make it easy on our server as we waited nearly 20 minutes just to get the check. It was a nice property and building, however the wine and food left a lot to be desired. I would probably go back for live music and the movie night but not necessarily for their menu. read more

We came here because there's no other good winery in this area, and this place is well-known among the locals. The experience has been quite disappointing. A winery it is, but good wine it doesn't have. Their sampling flights are okay but nothing to write home about. Their food is garbage. Depending on what you order they are either under prepared or over prepared. We had a large group and their menu was very short so we got a taste of everything. Just garbage. Another note is that they don't have anything kid friendly, not even food. Their bread and pizza are so overcooked that I could break my teeth biting into them. When we asked if they had anything softer on their menu for our kids, she said "well, it's a winery." They might as well put up a sign at the door saying "dogs and kids are not allowed". I'm pretty sure the four daughters were born with a bottle of wine in their mouth. How that didn't teach them how to make good wine is beyond my comprehension. At this point I can only hope for a project extension so I can eat through the menu. The restaurant owner greeted each table in turn -- on a Tuesday night. First time visitor here. Joined two additional couples for wine and a light meal. Not knowing what to expect except from other reviews on yelp, we were excited and a bit hesitant. We enjoyed the sampler of the whites and the reds. Not bad at all. The food was very good and a unique variety as well. Overall, the wine was nice. The food was very good. The atmosphere was a cool modern vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pretty good service as the servers all worked together. There was an acoustic singer and the sound just echoed. Better suited to play outdoors. The owner Gary, stopped by to chat for awhile and this was pleasantly welcome. Impressive a he literally just flew in from Germany with his wife. The wines we sampled of course were tasty but very disappointed they didn't offer more of a menu Covid or not as other places in the area were operating normal menus. Also, the service was practically nonexistent. We had to go up and get our wine samples, water and of course pay at the counter as well with no cheap prices on anything. Location is amazing - and obviously in the summer time I'm sure the views of the vineyard from the dining area is beautiful. The ambiance was nice, our waitress was fun and attentive, there was also live music, Fernando was his name and he was seriously awesome. The wine samplers were good, they had many options which was nice. The food on the other hand, I hate to give a bad rating because everything else was great BUT I'm sorry I have to be the food snob here. We ordered calamari and Charcuterie plate for starters - the calamari was like something I hadn't seen before perfectly cut squares, apparently it's made from a calamari "steak" - I'm not used to that and the flavor was subpar and presentation was disappointing.. now when ordering a charcuterie plate you'd normally expect a wood block with a plethora of meats cheeses and crackers and or bread(especially for $20!), this was NOT the case. Poor presentation, very amateur, 3 slices of gray no name meat - two other slices of meat small block of cheese a cookie, a piece of bread with a rosemary jabbed in the middle - very odd and not filling at all like we had anticipated. Great place for a romantic date night or for dinner with friends. Food: gets 5 stars! Food is delicious, I have been to Four Daughters several times and was never disappointed with the food. We went for dinner with friends and we shared the baked Brie that was divine. I had the scallops and my husband had the meatballs and they were perfect! The scallops come with carrot spätzle, which was a delicious surprise. Their chef is young and a pleasure to have a conversation with, if you are not there on a super busy night! Wine: I am fully aware that this is a winery. But I will give their wine only two stars because the majority of their wine is too sweet for my taste. Stopped at this cute, little vineyard on our way back from doing the Mystery Cave Tour at Forestville State Park. The rows of grapes, the cool building design, and gorgeous deck/patio overlooking the grapes draws you right in. Tasting menu is cheap (only $5), and the menu is mouth watering. We got a frittata and the baked brie. Both delicious. Our server was knowledgable and approachable about the wines we sampled. I tried the reds while my mom tasted the whites. Ultimately, I tried a bit of everything. My only disappointment was that I didn't actually care for any of the wines--they were all a bit too fruity and sweet for my taste. Loved their hard cider though. And they have an impressive event schedule--weekly dinners, tours, a grape stomping festival, etc. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. read more

Four Daughter's is a tasting room, bar, and restaurant combined. They don't really offer tours, except on special days; usually in combination with another event. The grounds that are open to the public are beautiful and very inviting on a sunny day. Their tasting menu is friendly for winery virgins, as you choose either red or white and you receive five samples. The wines are set-up on a place-mat that gives the names and a short description. Patrons then sample at their own leisure. We decided to try both their red and white tastings on our visit. To be brutally honest, we think their wines need a lot of work and more refinement. Their reds contained sediment and had prominent bitter aftertastes. In all fairness, we aren't fans of white wines, which seem to be Four Daughter's specialty. Yet, their whites need more cultivation too, as their Moscatos are undergoing an unanticipated increased secondary fermentation; this leaves them cloudy and prone to explosion. Our favorite product that Four Daughter's offers is their Loon Juice. Its a Hard Cider modeled after the European style of fermentation, which produces a crisper and less sweet version than the typical American brands. We are big fans, so if you prefer Stella's Cidre over Angry Orchard, you'll want to order a pint. We didn't try the food, as we were just visiting to spend time with family. The menu looked appetizing and their special events looked like fun. Overall, Four Daughter's WInery has the potential to be fantastic. Their Botique wines are immature, but with some love and time, they may become a great addition to Rochester's growing food culture. read more

Love that you can do wine or (and) cider tasting. Love the Loon Juice options. The food was good too. The french onion soup was some of the best- ever. The side salad was tasty. My friend loved her coconut shrimp too. I guess they used to have sloppy joe nachos but now have brisket nachos. Tasty but tricky to eat; my friends said they missed the sloppy joe option. Dessert was yummy- definitely not an afterthought as it can be at some places. The service was on-point and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended! I'm not a big reviewer, but this gem of a place needed to get some props. It has without a doubt the most creative menu within 50 miles of Austin, MN. The atmosphere is city mimimalcool inside and relaxing casual on the outside with views of the vineyards and the modern architectural elements of the building. Staff was friendly, but a little less attentive than I would have liked. The wine is decent for the midwest, which is not known for stellar wines. I tried both white and red tastings. As expected, the whites were better. I enjoyed 4 of the 5 samples. Now for the food. The first course I tried was the Chicken Fried Olives with Tabasco Yogurt Dip. Very tasty. Perfect crunchy batter. They are salty, but then again they're olives, soooo, yeah. B+ 2nd. Course. Crab and Watermelon Salad. A perfect blend of sweet watermelon large, fresh crab, with curry dressing, radishes, cucumber, cashews and micro greens. Perfect presentation. A+ 3nd. Course. Pork Belly Ravioli with Roasted White Beans, Garlic Scape Pesto and Maple Gastrique. Awesome. Great presentation. A 4th Course. S' mores Pot de Creme with Candied Bacon. The weakest of the 4. Too much marshmallow fluff, it overpowered the pot de creme. Menu mentioned graham cracker, but none was found. Bacon was good, but it was bacon, sooooo yeah. B- All in all 4 Daughters Winery is a great way to spend an evening with friends while sampling some incredibly good food. Especially seeing as how the closest city is 30 minutes away. Watch out when leaving card for specilty dinners. They're not good at recognizing or remembering cancellations (6 days prior) and will try to charge you. The whole thing is shady - when doing any business with them make them give you the information you'll need to prove anything because they will conveniently "forget" that you called. Also if bidding on a gift certificate for them at a charity auction...double check the parameters. For example a wine tasting for friends isn't what you think it is, it's something you can omly do on a Monday afternoon or crap like that. Bottom line this place screws people over. read more

Pricey but unique. Our group arrived early for a pop up boutique & fashion event, which was fortunate because we easily got a table for 7. (Later the wait was hours doe to the turnout). It's truly a beautiful place. We all started by sharing cider flights. The samples were large enough for two people if you don't want to over do it. Honeycrisp, Pear, Tea, ginger mojito, strawberry and caramel apple. Favorites in our group were the Pear, strawberry and caramel apple, although one of us didn't like caramel apple and several did not like honeycrisp and ginger mojito. They were all palatable... just a matter of preference... the honeycrisp is dry, and the caramel apple dark and sweet. We shared the cheese and charcuterie plate and an order of guacamole... they were surprisingly small. It was a struggle to share with seven people, but we all took tiny portions. The guacamole was excellent. A few in our group loved the pimento cheese and grilled focaccia. The lavender jelly was not a favorite but fun to try! Also came with a tasty white cheese, a blue cheese, chorizo (Smokey not spicy) and jagerwust plus a few almonds and strawberry slices. For lunch, I shared pork tacos (4 on an order) and smoked chicken pesto flatbread (4 slices). Both were tasty. Dessert - we shared blackberry crumble ala mode and creme brûlée cheesecake. Come for the wine, stay for the food. Took my wife here for her birthday and she did a wine flight. We ordered the baked brie which a pecan pie topping for an appetizer. The sweetness of the topping was a perfect accompaniment to the soft, savory brie. I ordered a Moroccan flatbread topped with ground lamb, onions, goat cheese, aioli, arugula and a spicy tomato sauce. While I didn't taste the spiciness of the sauce, it was fantastic. This place was busy on a Sunday afternoon. I arrived with a group of six and found table. I think it was a good 30 minutes before we even had a glass of wine in front of us. This is not okay in my book. Hire some help! No water was offered with our meal! Not acceptable! Did not like any of the wine---and the food was overpriced and skimpy in portion. We had at our table a cheese plate for 14.00. I am a cheese lover and the pairings were weird...the cup of jelly/sauce had no flavor at all. The crackers were deep fried and you could taste the oil which overpowered the cheese. We all got an entree I got the eggs bene on flat bread-my eggs were still raw and for this I paid 15.00. The wine sampling is 5.00 and they do not offer a deal if you want both the white and the red. We all did both and ordered a glass after also. The waitress forgot to ring up one of the tastings and two of my honest companions told her so---so we had to wait for her to correct that and in my opinion she should have just let it go. This is a communion sized glass of wine! It is loud and busy on the weekend so not very peaceful and relaxing. I will probably skip this and just go to a restaurant and have myself a truly good glass of wine if it is mentioned again. It was like hiring a hooker and not having a climax. read more

My sister and I spent a relaxing weekend afternoon at Four Daughter's which is located south of Rochester between Stewartville and Spring Valley. Atmosphere: delightful. The inside was beautiful and they have a nice porch overlooking the vineyard. If only the sun had been out... it would have been perfect! Wine: we were pleasantly surprised. We decided to each do the tasting ($5 for 6 wines... can't beat that!) and enjoyed each sampling. Sure, some we preferred more than others, but all in all a good experience. If you're looking for full glasses of wine it'll run you ~$5-$7. I believe they were also offering sangria and cider. The full bottles are a little pricey in my opinion, but not outrageous for a local winery. They seemed to be between $15-20 for most bottles. Food: acceptable, but not great. Disclaimer: we just got a cheese plate and bruschetta, not full meals. They do offer a Thurs night gourmet dinner and tour of the facility, which I still really want to try. But I felt that the cheese plate was bland and was disappointed that the waitress did not identify for us what the cheeses were. There were also a few jellies on the plate... made of some unnamed fruits. The cheeses themselves (whatever they were) were lacking in flavor in our opinions. The bruschetta was good though... interesting spin. It was made with an asparagus pesto topped with proscuitto. Will definitely be back. A great way to spend a summer (or spring or fall) afternoon. And am very interested to try other foods on the menu (which was quite extensive!) but will probably not go for the cheese plate again (which is a shame b/c what goes better w/ wine?!) read more

I've been a fan of Four Daughters Loon Juice for several years. I've been inside the venue a couple of times, but I didn't have the food until recently. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. My daughter and I shared the 4D nachos and a Korean barbecue pizza. Both were spectacular. This place is great. The outside seating is worth the drive from Rochester. It's a fun place to hang out on a summer afternoon. The menu changes day to day which is nice because you know the food mush be fresh. It can be a little annoying when you see something online that you want to try and they don't have it when you go. The road is a little close and can be loud but isn't too bothersome. The portion sizes can be quite small. The food itself is pretty good. Most of the items are tasty but there is a few items that don't seem to really hit the mark, such a the Lollypop lamb. I would recommend the Tacos of a main and the bread&butter of an app. After your meal it can be nice to walk around in the field of grape plants. read more

Rochester is so lucky to have this place just a stone's throw away. Wow, wow, and wow. The architecture is chic and modern, with private party spaces in the back. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I had a white wine "flight" where I received a placemat with circles for the real-glass miniature wine glasss along the top and a description of each wine's properties in the columns under the circles. It's so nice to have detailed information of what you're enjoying! Outside is a set of real grape presses, and all the grape fields. Ample parking. EASY to drive to & find. One criticism: the evening we were there, there was a private event going on that was too large for the private party room they had booked, so they were "bleeding out" into the hallway and part of the main room. This was a problem because I had to squeeze by many people to get to the bathroom -- much like at a house party! read more

I'm biased, because my sister just held her wedding and reception here, but this was a lovely surprise. You're not expecting a lot, with the way it's tucked just around the corner from the motor speedway, but you get a surprisingly picturesque site, smelling of rich earth and the growing vineyard. The winery itself is beautiful, very modern and well laid out, and the wines we tasted were lovely. I really enjoyed the sparkling Moscato. The catered brunch we enjoyed at the reception was also a nice touch, but I don't know if it's featured on the regular menu. If it is, the almond french toast was fantastic. read more

Tasting menu here is fabulous and very affordable! We always seem to prefer the whites (the nude etude and Brianna are must-tries but are also frequently out of stock). If you are a fan of bold reds the Big Boy is delicious. The sloppy joe nachos are always on our agenda; they are the perfect balance with crispy chips and deliciously goopy topping. They make my country farmer dad happy as well as his city dwelling daughter! The noise inside is quite loud though, so we only go in summer when we can sit outside, as otherwise you can't hear the person next to you. Tried wine samplers, pizza, and pot roast tacos. Absolutely nothing bad to say about Four Daughters. Great atmosphere, service, and food (and I do not give out those compliments to restaurants easily!) A vineyard this highly recommended is a great surprise tucked away on a county highway. Stopped on our way home during a long road trip. It was an unexpected stop and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine!

I was visiting my girlfriend in Rochester during her internship at Mayo this summer, and we drove out to this amazing winery! We both ordered wine flights. She did reds and I did the whites and of course we shared to save a few bucks and enjoy ourselves. The Wine: As a fairly new wine drinker, I was very happy with the white wines. Reds I'm not a huge fan for yet. Tannins don't like me much;) Though my favorite white wine was Brianna, and we purchased a bottle to take home for dinner. Good to the last drop! Brianna was $19.95 and I believe most other bottles were that price. Our two flights were $10 together. Each flight came with it's own paper describing the white and it's aroma or taste notes. Atmosphere: The building is very neat and modern. From the outside you see a very sharp design with weird angles that just works for it. Building sit on a beautiful landscape and the grape vines are very close. During our visit there was chair setup in a part of the vineyard for a wedding, nicely so because the area is beautiful. From the inside you see a whole wall of bottled wine with a cool design. Plenty of seating and a bar fairly in the middle of it all. And the ceiling lights are really cool because they look like wine glasses hanging at different heights. It was busy when we were there so be prepared for noise. Food: Sorry didn't try any but the service was good and very attentive. Every time we finished a wine glass someone was there to pick it up. I'm going four stars for four daughters because I wished the price for a bottle of wine was a bit cheaper. Being on a budget prevented me on taking a bottle or two back to my family. But overall a five star experience! read more

Great first time experience over lunch. The menu is full of really well though out dishes that came out perfectly executed. The cheese plate is quite good and the short ribs poutine and lamb meatloaf entrées are delightful!
